Wrong common name[edit]

I think this page should be moved to Paerata massacre. My reasons for this are that the criteria for an article title is that it be not only recognizable but also precise. Thorp, in his list of mass killings, refers to this event as "Paerata, near Auckland (Schlaepfer)" and the websites gunpolicy.org and crime.co.nz says this event happened in Paerata, too, While NZHistory says "south Auckland farmer", Stuff clarifys this by saying "Paerata, south of Auckland," The NZ Herald says "in the rolling hills above Pukekohe" but also says one survivor is "still living in Paerata". A couple of the overseas sources refer to Auckland as a reference place but are not specific. While the AP News source uses the dateline of "Pukekohe, New Zealand" it doesn't even mention where the event happened. Given 4 sources, including Thorp, refer specifically to "Paerata" and at least one more implies this location. The other sources are less specific, merely referring to south of Auckland. While Pukekohe and Paerata are nearby to each other, and are now being developed as urban areas, in 1992 they were distinctly different places, Pukekohe being a rural town, and Paerata being a small rural settlement. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 22:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Dunutubble for your prompt response. I am aware of the background history of this article and participated in the deletion discussion. It wasn't until I reread Thorp that I realized that an authoritative reference use Paerata to refer to this event. Subsequent investigation of the other sources lead to my discoveries noted above. However, I can also see how the current (mis)naming might have happened as some sources are a bit vague with the location and the area has been developed and grown since 1992.
