Waller of Allenstown and Waller of Rookwood[edit]

Breda Scott's PhD dissertation has some clear errors on the family history side, but it seems that Anna Maria Allott, Richard Allott's sister, was a second cousin of Louisa Beaufort. Based on [1] from the 1899 Burke's Landed Gentry, the relationship can't be first cousin (Burke has Samuel August Beaufort where it should be Daniel Augustus Beaufort, Louisa's father).

Burke says that the issue of Robert Waller of Rookwood (born 1701), married Jane Ormsby, elder brother of William Waller (1710-1796 of Allenstown), grandfather of Louisa, had (by 1899) failed. This looks to be plausible: it seems that Richard Allott junior did not marry, and had two sisters (Jane? and Anna Maria), so that the line may have been extinct by 1860. Scott gives Anna Maria's report about her great-aunt Jane who married Colonels Eyre and Congre(e)ve; and that fits Jane the sister of Robert and William Waller (who is d:Q75892246).

So the information on Geni.com[2] about Anna Maria Allot (Waller) seems to be correct for Richard Allott senior's wife. Charles Matthews (talk) 16:41, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
