English translation of this case and some commentary. I acme across it because it's mentioned as an EU-wide issue here: “As an industry [telcom] we are waiting for the European Court of Justice to decide the SABAM Vs Tiscali case." Suits by and againt SABAM

This paragraph is very unclear:

"In October 2007, the copyright association study by a Brussels court on suspicion of falsifying financial statements, the abuse of the confidence of its members and the laundering of misappropriated funds. Following the investigation, which lasted three years, was a complaint by the Walloon composer Philippe Delhaye."

I was able to glean from a Google translation of http://www.tijd.be/nieuws/ondernemingen_media/Sabam_verwezen_naar_strafrechter.9161380-3120.art that the case (not "study") against Sabam originated due to a complaint by Philippe Delhaye (it wasn't followed by the complaint.) That original complaint, according to the article, was followed by a variety of further accusations.

I don't know if Tijd (Time, right?) is a well-known and respected publisher, but it's about the only article I could find that had this much information about that particular case. Considering I don't know who they are, and I don't speak Belgian, I won't change the paragraph myself.

Reuters, however, has some articles on the other suits -- those filed by Sabam. http://www.reuters.com/search?blob=sabam --- good for references?

SABAM also monitor the Internet to check illegal supply of art. In 2004 SABAM filed a complaint against ISP Tiscali because of the illegal distribution of music over the Internet. A restaurant owner from Brussels was fined because he had a picture of the Atomium on his website.

SABAM and every other author society monitors the internet and helps people to get a permission to use its works. This is not neutral.

Please give prove and facts. It was not about an annual fee and it was not only about libraries. Please look up the tarif on our website.

Hello Mr. Bakelants. As community manager for SABAM [1], you should be aware you fall under the conflict of interest guidelines at WP:COI. In short, please do not edit the article yourself, but you can suggest changes on the talk page. In doing so, please be very specific about what problems you have with the content; for example "not neutral" should be more elaborate. In March 2012, it wasn't clear in the (international) press what fee SABAM asks allowing volunteers to read books to small groups of children.[1][2][3]

In December 2012 SABAM made a deal with Google. Google is now licensed for the music repertoire represented directly by SABAM and will pay SABAM directly the royalties for its digital music service of songs in the whole of Europe, and even beyond the European Union’s borders.

The part about the reading books to kids I have slightly changed, but your proposal is a whitewash that conceals what the uproar was about. As for the deal with Google, I would be willing to include that, but could you consider re-writing it to make it more understandable, and provide a source from outside your organization?
