Sarah's Real Name[edit]

Guys, Jenny Burton is NOT SARAH'S REAL NAME. Graham makes that COMPLETELY clear that the name on her birth certificate is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. It's an Alias. A-LI-AS. Stop changing the fricken' page. Ambaryer (talk) 04:35, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could Burton be her real last name? --Boycool42 (talk) 23:27, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No. Graham already made it clear that "Burton" is another alias. Ambaryer (talk) 12:36, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why is "Sam Lisa" listed as alias and "Sarah Walker" as her real name?--Boycool42 (talk) 19:56, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Because someone didn't like having unique character infoboxes for Chuck, and she's known primarily as Sarah Walker on the series. The way the generic InfoBox is set up doesn't allow the same sort of setup. Ambaryer (talk) 00:50, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Could we add a "born" option like on a real person's article, and put Sam Lisa under it? --Boycool42 (talk) 11:15, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is inserting it in the correct location. There's generic data points, but these all appear at the end of the infobox. Ambaryer (talk) 12:31, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why did we get rid of the infoboxes again? --Boycool42 (talk) 21:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Because self-described defenders of the Wiki Universe decreed they didn't belong. Ambaryer (talk) 03:25, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't add to the generic character infobox? --Boycool42 (talk) 11:20, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As I said: it's possible to use the generic data points, however I don't think you can insert them higher into the infobox. The position in the box goes by how you number them, and the generic data points start at something like, line 20 or 21. Ambaryer (talk) 12:34, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why can't we edit the infobox template and add a DOB higher up? --Boycool42 (talk) 20:33, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that's possible without creating a completely new infobox. Ambaryer (talk) 20:40, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sara's Childhood Aliases[edit]

Just how noteworthy are Sarah's other childhood aliases that they need to be included on the infobox? They were only ever mentioned once in the series, as opposed to "Jenny Burton," which she's been showing using as an "alias beneath the alias" around Chuck where her family is concerned. The others are mentioned within the body of the article, do we really need them in the infobox as well? Ambaryer (talk) 16:37, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since it keeps coming up: her childhood names, other than Jenny Burton, are definitely not notable as of the end of Season 2, and I wouldn't suggest including them even in the body of the article. Mrs. Anderson is more debatable; she used the alias on multiple missions with Bryce, including a full on-screen mission. DurandalsFate (talk) 02:24, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah and Episode 3x08[edit]

Supposedly in episode 3x08 we're going to learn Sarah's real name. This poses the question: Once revealed should this article be renamed to use her real name instead, (such as the "Captain Awesome" article being renamed to "Devon Woodcomb") or should it just be noted in the article and Infobox and leave the article as "Sara Walker" since that's how she's primarily known up to this point in the series? Ambaryer (talk) 22:26, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(Wish I hadn't just read that spoiler, but...) Unless everyone starts using that name regularly, her Sarah Walker alias is her continuing identity on the show and will remain the only really notable name for her. Just make a note of it in the Infobox and somewhere in the article.--DurandalsFate (talk) 05:36, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's what sucks about Wikipedia, no spoiler tags. I had to be careful when Chuck Versus First Class aired because Canadian viewers got it a day early and started updating the pages before it even aired in the US. Keep in mind that right now this is just what the scuttlebutt is (combined with the episode title: Chuck Versus the Fake Name). I don't know if there's any official statement from JS and CF that confirm it. The most recent *I* know of from the Bobs is that we WOULDN'T ever find out, and that not even Strahovski knows what it is. So take it as you will, but it's still best to be prepared because it IS going to come up if the rumor mill is true. Ambaryer (talk) 05:51, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, cool--agreed on all counts, and thanks for the update.--DurandalsFate (talk) 22:41, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, we now know for certain Sarah's real first name, and it DEFINITELY belongs in the Infobox. The question is: Where? I was putting it under "Nickname" with her known middle name. Now someone moved it under "Aliases." Obviously it doesn't really belong under either, but because the name "Sarah Walker" is how she is predominantly known it probably also doesn't belong as the "main" name on the Infobox (that, and we ONLY know her first and middle name, not her last name).

One thought I had was to create a new Infobox Template for Chuck characters. That way we could add an additional "Real Name" field as well as adding/removing other fields that are more relevant to Chuck characters (something similar was done for the House Episode templates).Ambaryer (talk) 02:08, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Like the idea of a Chuck-specific Infobox Template, though a "real name" field would only apply to possibly two characters, Sarah and Casey. Also, I do see speculation that Sarah might be playing Shaw, and using yet another fake name (fitting for the title of the episode), so we might want to qualify claims that it's her real name by saying that's what she claims her real name is.-DurandalsFate (talk) 03:39, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The issue with the later is that we do have statements from the crew that indicate this is, indeed, her real name. Additionally, it doesn't hurt to have the option for Real Name. Even if it's only used for Sarah, it doesn't hurt to be prepared. I've created a Chuck character infobox, I'll start updating the character bio pages.Ambaryer (talk) 05:28, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganizing[edit]

The article on Sarah is starting to get rather long. It may be a good idea to start breaking the article up into section. I would propose:

  • Biography - As it is now, providing background information prior to the beginning of the series.
  • Series - Focus on episode plots only, remove her personality and relationship development from this section. We MAY consider further breaking this down into:
  • Season 1
  • Season 2
  • Season 3
  • Season 4
  • Development - Main section as it exists now; casting and other behind-the-scenes information
  • Personality - Move all information on Sarah's personality development over the course of the series here.
  • Relationships - General heading on Sarah's relationship history. Any relationships that don't have significant amount of info (IE, details of her relationship with her father, Bryce, Shaw, etc) would be discussed here
  • Chuck - Move all development of her relationship with Chuck here
  • Casey

This ought to help the article be a little less unwieldy in the same manner as that for Chuck has been further broken down. As this will lead to a pretty significant rewrite/reorganization it may be best to discuss it here first before actually making changes. Ambaryer (talk) 05:24, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Considering how much Sarah's place in the series revolves around her relationships, it may be difficult to separate them from the Series section, and might be made unnecessary if the whole article were pruned down of so much detail. The Personality section could be limited to just the notable aspects and overarching changes in her character, instead of rehashing many plots. -DurandalsFate (talk) 18:10, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sam?[edit]

am I the only one who doesn't think that Sarah would reveal her real name to Shaw but not to Chuck, whom she admits that she fell in love with before he even joined the CIA, long ago? it doesn't fit with her character at all and it's bugging me.. thoughts? 202.0.50.193 (talk) 10:01, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, but your own research and hardly relevant. For what it's worth, I agree, but I don't know how it relates to the article. --Boycool (talk) 12:54, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas at the Burton household[edit]

Did they scam the Salvation Army? I always thought they put on Santa suits and scammed donations out of generous givers. --Boycool (talk) 16:09, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah Bartowski[edit]

Now that Chuck and Sarah are married how long should we wait before moving the page to Sarah Bartowski? In the case of Ellie this wasn't done until partway into Season 3. Ambaryer (talk) 22:59, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As of the wedding, I don't think Sarah Lisa Bartowski is really an alias. Sure, it might not have been her birth name, but given all of the documents and legalities about being married, wouldn't it technically not be official unless her legal name was used? Though we are not given any overt evidence of this on the show, given the circumstances, I would think it is safe to assume that Sarah Lisa Bartowski is now her actual, legal name, rather than an alias. I propose that we change the part stating that Sarah Lisa Bartowski is an alias and change the description of Sam Lisa to "birth name" rather than "real name" Coreymon77 (talk) 05:58, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a different case than Casey, who as Alex Coburn was legally dead and was given a completely new legal identity. Nothing has specifically said Sarah had her name legally changed, so it's completely speculative and would fall under original research. It's just as likely that prior to Chuck, Sarah and Casey being fired, the CIA had already accounted for this and was exerting its influence over the respective agencies to arrange the cover identity (after all, they would have HAD to do it when Chuck and Sarah went undercover as newlyweds in Chuck Versus the Suburbs to ensure their cover held up under scrutiny). All of Chuck's friends know her as "Sarah Walker," so if all the legal documents were suddenly turning up as "Sam Bartowski" while Chuck and his family continued using her cover name, it would arouse suspicion.
I'll admit that this falls under original research as well, but as the fact "Sarah Walker" was an alias is already established through multiple sources, I think continuing to call it as such is preferable until some source establishes conclusively that she had her name legally changed. Ambaryer (talk) 14:12, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another possible sister[edit]

In Chuck vs. the Wookie, Sarah mentioned that she had a sister. It was never made clear if she made her sister up, or whether her sister did exist. Should this be mentioned in the article at all? GouramiGirl (talk) 03:04, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I would say not. There's a very good probability Sarah was talking about the baby she rescued and left with her mother. Ambaryer (talk) 13:46, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I know, but she wasn't nine when she rescued Molly. She said that when she was nine, she and her sister put on baby oil instead of sun screen. GouramiGirl (talk) 04:55, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Aliases/ Names.[edit]

Should there be a separate section or little box thingGouramiGirl (talk) 05:05, 25 May 2014 (UTC) for all of these? I know she has a lot, like Elana Truffaut(Chuck vs the Helicopter), some childhood nicknames, he and a bunch of others that she uses in missions. There have been a few things on here on whether her aliases should go in the info box, or mentioned at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GouramiGirl (talkcontribs) [reply]

One-offs aren't notable enough for inclusion, but aliases that appeared in two or more episodes can be included. gsk 05:23, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
