The result of the move request was: Moved to Snake (1998 video game). There is consensus to move. And there is a consensus to move to Snake (1998 video game). The current title will be redirected to the dab page. – robertsky (talk) 02:36, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Snake (video game)Snake (mobile game) – This article is exclusively about the Nokia mobile phone version of Snake as invented by Taneli Armanto. Having this article at Snake (video game) gives the impression that Armanto invented the entire Snake game concept, while in reality he only invented this particular version, and the Snake game itself precedes it by decades. Checking the list of incoming links reveals dozens of incoming links referring to the concept of the Snake game itself, not to Armanto's version. I think even a brief read through of the opening paragraph will make it clear he did not invent genre, but I have little argument against the re-name regardless. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:48, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, and move Snake (video game genre) back to Snake (video game), undoing an undiscussed move from 2018. 162 etc. (talk) 16:57, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose This would appear to be correct, as it's talking about an individual video game called "Snake". It certainly doesn't give the impression that he invented the entire Snake game concept. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 08:53, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose on the grounds of the proposal: I'm just not seeing how "Snake (video game)" reads as anything else than talking about an individual video game. Also strictly opposed to moving "Snake (video game genre)" to "Snake (video game)" - if anything, the current titles are less ambiguous than what is being proposed. -Ljleppan (talk) 09:42, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to Snake (1997 video game)Snake (1998 video game), since we prefer year over platform for disambiguation per WP:NCVGDAB. Even per the list at Snake (video game genre)#Nokia phones there are other video games named only Snake. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:43, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note there is also a snake game disambiguated as Snakes (N-Gage game). Perhaps Snake (Nokia 6110 game)? IgelRM (talk) 10:48, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Was this meant to be addressed to me? That's just even more evidence in favor of "1997 video game" - the more specific a platform you have to use the harder it is to get right and the more confusing it becomes. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:09, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Kinda, I was just pointing out that we then have one Snake game disambiguated by platform and one by year. IgelRM (talk) 10:31, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It appears the correct year is Snake (1998 video game) - I have no idea where I got 1997 from. Pppery (alt) (talk) 19:12, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support doing something to disambiguate. It is not the only snake video game. Per 162. No objection to using the year per Pppery. — BarrelProof (talk) 05:16, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Commment: When I heard this game discussed when I was writing about Blockade or Surround, they usually quickly just referred to it as the game that appeared on old Nokia phones. I think something like "Snake (Nokia video game)" might solve this issue. Kind of like how I did with Golf (Atari 2600 video game) or Space Invaders (Atari 2600 video game). These games are not quite known as a game from a specific era as pin pointing old games releases is difficult. I feel like people were playing Snake long after the year 1998, but they probably remember it best as being on these pre-smart phone phones. This would probably clarify what is needed. • Support (Nokia 6110 game) or (Nokia video game) and move Snake (video game genre) back here. There are too many games called Snake for one to hold the (video game) disambiguator. Axem Titanium (talk) 03:11, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(Nokia video game) is still ambiguous - there's an entire section listing snake games on Nokia phones. I still prefer the year to the platform, but am fine with (Nokia 6110 game) - although shouldn't it be (Nokia 6110 video game)?
I see no reason to move the genre article - it is about a genre rather than one specific video game so the disambiguation is correct as is. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:33, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to Snake (1998 video game) per Pppery. Nokia 6110 sounds too specific, it may have been on a few other models too, while others are too general.  — Amakuru (talk) 19:58, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
