Sonic the Hedgehog article?

It strikes me that when people search for Sonic the Hedgehog, they are either looking for the character or the series. I purpose we change one of these to Sonic the Hedgehog (with nothing in parenthesis). Of course, this would require a massive change in many articles. We could still keep the information on the current Sonic the Hedgehog article, but it would be renamed Sonic the Hedgehog (disambiguation). Any thoughts on this? Has anybody suggested this before? The current Wikipedia guideline for disambiguation has a section addressing this issue. It says that if there is a primary meaning for a term that should be the article with nothing in parenthesis, otherwise the disambiguation page should be there. I don’t think that any of the articles meet the criteria of the being the primary meaning. I can also tell you that while disambiguating the links to this page, I have not found that most links were meant for one article. Making the switch actually would not take a massive change. Once this article was moved to Sonic the Hedgehog (disambiguation) and another article was moved here, a redirect to this article would be placed where the moved article had been. The SOnic the Hedgehog article already includes most stuff about the series. Besides, if one were to make an article about the series, he/she could just entitle it "Sonic the Hedgehog (series) right? Why is the information getting deleted?

Just to avoid any further confusion this is technically not a disambiguation page. Even if the page was disambiguation it would still require the see also box. It is much more preferable to keep all sonic the hedgehog related media on one page rather than creating multiple disambiguation pages with small lines of text.

Also, the user Silver Edge is deleting all information on animation but keeping the "Sonic the Hedgehog (TV series)" information still available, what is the reasoning for this?

Please leave the See Also box alone, or if this is unnacceptable, I can edit the page to remove the See Also box and place the information in a more suitable location on the article. Jezstar (talk) 10:12, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Two quick notes:

1. WP:MOSDAB allows having a "see also" section
2. we shouldn't be using {{main}} when we can just place a link in the way indicated by the style guide.

Sonic 3 and 4

Is there any reason why Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and 4 (by the same full name) aren't on this list? I'll add them if there aren't any objections. There is no reason a possible title shouldn't be on this list. The purpose of disambiguation pages is to... well, disambiguate a term. When one searches for "Sonic the Hedgehog," they could be searching for any Sonic game, the character, the series, the TV shows, the movie, etc. etc. etc. Feel free to add any titles that may relate to this subject. Ok, my previous understanding of disambiguation pages was a bit flawed. Per WP:PTM, we should only list the articles for this disambiguation page that specifically have the name "Sonic the Hedgehog" with no add-ons. So Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3, and 4 wouldn't have been appropriate for a disambiguation page about just "Sonic the Hedgehog". Readers wishing to get a list of Sonic games should instead head over to the cleverly titled List of Sonic the Hedgehog video games. The page has been redefined as a set-index article, rather than a disambiguation page, so I don't think there is any action needed for this page as of now. Just wanted to clarify this.
