Own Goal[edit]

Does anybody know when this occured? BigBen212 17:02, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Googled it, but there's not much info: during Anderlecht's 3-2 win over Germinal Ekerken in the 1995-96 season, all three of their goals were scored by the hapless Ekeren player Staf Van Den Buys. --Yago Stecher 22:22, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's true there's hardly any info on this player. I created the article and what is there is all I could find (i.e. very little). There's no question about him being notable enough to be on wikipedia however. If this match was a league game then he was obviously playing in the Belgian Jupiler at the time. "Van Den xxx" is Belgian, "van der xxx" is Dutch. So he should be Belgian (given that he played in the Belgian league). Chanheigeorge 00:42, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
From footballen.eu, here's a citation, at least:
Flest selvmål/Most own goals in 1 match Staf Van den Buys -Germinal Ekeren -3 goals (Lost the game 2-3 to Anderlecht..)

I want this page to be deleted, the player whom we're talking about is named Stan van den Buijs and not Staf. I created a new article about him. He's my uncle :-D and the own goal info is correct. Denniske84 00:40, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Own goals[edit]

Hello, please note that the player did not score the three goals as own goal, the third goal was scored by Johan Walem, who touched the ball before it crossed the goal line despite it being converted into a goal by Van den Buys. In addition, there are many sites that do not consider the third goal as a subjective goal, such as worldfootball.com. You can see the three goals here. --Mishary94 (talk) 18:44, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
