"To be determined" number of players.[edit]

Please discuss this here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.236.63.92 (talk) 19:04, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What you're trying to do here isn't how Wikipedia works. First off, you're adding unsourced rumors. Second, the infobox simply lists that the game is single-player (which it is). Once a source confirmed multiplayer support, then we will additionally add multiplayer. It's not an either/or thing, the infobox will ALWAYS list single-player as a mode. It may or may not additionally list multiplayer. Additionally, the infobox has guidelines for the use of the mode field. The only acceptable values are single-player, multiplayer, or both together. We do not put "To be determined", we do not put "co-op", etc. Doing so actually causes the article to be listed on reports of pages using invalid parameters. -- ferret (talk) 19:18, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm citing the offical website for the game, which tates "To be determined". Take a look for yourself: https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/super-mario-maker-2-switch — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.236.63.92 (talk) 19:32, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We know the game will have single-player, that is not disputed by anyone or any sources. So single-player goes into the infobox. Whether or not the game will ALSO have multiplayer is yet to be determined. Until it is proven, the infobox does not list multiplayer. If it is proven, the infobox will be updated to say "Single-player, multiplayer". That's all there is to it, the infobox documentation does not allow "To be determined" as a value.
As for "unsourced rumor", what I am referring to is the prose you added as follows: "but many fans have noticed multiple details in trailers and promotional art hinting at the inclusion of multiplayer" This is literally a rumor, with no source. Or are you claiming that the official Nintendo webpage says that fans are noticing these things and believe it means multiplayer is happening? -- ferret (talk) 19:37, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You did not make it clear you were talking about that part. The main point of this discussion is whether the number of players should be "To be determined" or "Single-player". The official website says "To be determined", hence why I made these edits. I now understand what you mean about the multiplayer rumour though, and I do apologise about that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.236.63.92 (talk) 19:42, 25 March 2019 (UTC) (off-topic edit: what is going on here? I'm pretty sure I'm signing my comments but this "SineBot" keeps signing them and when I look in the history it looks like I never signed them. 92.236.63.92 (talk) 19:49, 25 March 2019 (UTC))[reply]
As multiple editors have tried to tell you over the last 2-3 weeks, the infobox has guidelines (See Template:Infobox video game) on how to use certain fields. The only values allowed for mode are Single-player, multiplayer, or both together. "To be determined" is simply not allowed. We know it will have single-player, so we go ahead and put that. When we know it has multiplayer, we will add that as well. -- ferret (talk) 19:46, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think I must of missed that, I don't remember anyone telling me that but you are an administrator so I'll take what you say as the truth. I really must apologise, I didn't know that. 92.236.63.92 (talk) 19:49, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He is talong about co-op editing. That is limited to 2 players as clearly shown in the Direct controller screen. RedBlocks (talk)

Is "Super Mario Maker 2" part of the "Super Mario Maker" series?[edit]

Discuss this here Corinal (talk) 14:30, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We typically don't treat two games as a "series". This is especially true if we cannot link to a "series" article. It's a part of the broader Super Mario series, and series articles typically don't exist without at least 3 games and 1 non-game entity. -- ferret (talk) 15:12, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There are three games and an online comic. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also counts Super Mario Maker as its own sub-series. Scrooge200 (talk) 18:58, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What's the third game in the series? -- ferret (talk) 03:35, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think Ferret is referring to the 3DS port. --BrianGriffinTheDog (talk) 14:15, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You mean Scrooge. The 3DS port is not a separate entry the way I see it. -- ferret (talk) 15:49, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also agree. Besides, what would a Mario Maker series article currently offer that 1 and 2 couldn't? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 16:43, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just ask netendo?

That would be original research, which isn't allowed as per WP:OR. Stefvanschie (talk) 09:54, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Super Mario maker 2[edit]

How do I get started with the game and how do I help my son to figure it all out Samantha1977 (talk) 23:45, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Samantha1977, Wikipedia is not a forum; you are better off asking on another dedicated Super Mario Maker community, like its subreddit. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 00:11, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
