Confusion[edit]

There is apparently a father-son confusion in the account of the founding of the school.

Frederick William Stephen Price was son of the Rev. Edward Henry Price, and was baptised 1852. He graduated B.A. at St John's College, Cambridge in 1875. He was ordained deacon in 1881, priest in 1883, and went on to have a clerical career. If he taught at Philberds, it would make sense if it began in the period 1875 to 1881.[1]

Edward Henry Price was "Master of the Philberds School, Maidenhead, between 1854 and 1879." He became vicar of Kimbolton in 1880. He had further sons.[2]

Maybe the source quoted has them scrambled, but this Frederick Price did not have a son who could take over in 1876 - not married by then. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:26, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the Leinster-Mackay ref as given has no page number, but [3] at note 27 gives facts consistent with the above, so I shall rewrite. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:33, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
