The Sims 2 IKEA Home Stuff

It was officially announced at the EA store —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.247.125.69 (talk) 00:23, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

It seems this SP was cancelled, visit the BBS topic -Iblis Trigger (talk) 16:46, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
So even if the SP was cancelled, should it still be mentioned somewhere in the article that it was going to be released, though was later cancelled? If it gets mentioned as being cancelled with a source it may cut out the constant edit wars over trying to add it in again. Swanny92 (talk) 04:50, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps but to be quite honest it doesn't exist. The people that keep readding it to the article are just quite simply morons who have nothing better to do than add non existing stuff packs to the list. Jammy (talk) 11:14, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
The thing is though it has appeared on the EA store at one point or another though people on the Sims 2 Forums have said that they ordered it though was later cancelled. I don't know what's real and what's not though the EA Store did appear to be an official site so I'm assuming that it was existent at one point, and there has been realistic box art floating around the web as well. Swanny92 (talk) 12:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
It wasn't the official boxart though, it was just one that was put together to be shown in the EA Stores. Jammy (talk) 13:26, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Finally it will be better if only the Stuff Pack from the official "The Sims 2" site is here, because without no Maxoid confirmation we're not really sure if it was cancelled or will release later. -- Iblis Trigger (talk) 02:11, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/sims-2/307984-rumour-sims-2-ikea-stuff-2.html Will be released at a later date, confirmed by a mod on the official forums. 82.10.93.65 (talk) 16:29, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Finally, it was officially announced @ The Sims 2 site -- Iblis Trigger (talk) 18:00, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Zombie in FreeTime

Well, the zombies are available in the EP1 University and in the EP7 FreeTime. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.247.125.69 (talk) 23:34, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

You can get zombie from the genie resurrection wish. -- Iblis Trigger (talk) 13:38, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Me again finally it was confirmed by Numenor @ MTS2 (Post #21)(Full topic) -- Iblis Trigger (talk) 18:16, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Genie?

Should the genie be counted as a creature, considering you can't control him as a sim? 69.136.91.226 (talk) 23:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I think you're right, but it's the only thing close to a expansion creature. So I think it's best to leave it as it is. --Jammy (talk) 19:57, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Genie is a NPC like Grim Reaper, and Zombie is the FreeTime creature. -- Iblis Trigger (talk) 21:36, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Would you just stop editing the genie as the creature? It's NOT! Zombies are the creatures, Genie is JUST an NPC! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.65.142.34 (talk) 19:31, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Zombies were already introduced in University though. I personally think the Genie should count if only because it's the only thing that comes close, despite being an NPC. I'm pretty sure previews for the expansion mentioned it as being the "creature" too. --81.158.147.41 (talk) 23:50, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Inclusion of EP details?

I was just wondering whether we should include, in the relevant sections, all the additions made by the EP's. For example in needs should we put how Plant People's (from Seasons) needs are affected? I have noticed that we have done this with a few sections, such as Relationships (information from Nightlife), but should we do it for all?

If you think so then I will begin immediately to update all the sections. MasterOfHisOwnDomain (talk) 11:28, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

No, not really. The article is already quite long and we have the individual pages for a reason. The only things we should really be including from the EPs are a brief description of their content and any changes they make to the base game. So the Nightlife relationship stuff effects the entire game, while plant people really only effect planet people which are EP specific.--Crossmr (talk) 14:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Kk, so you're suggesting using my disgression when adding bits and pieces of EP-related info, only the bits which affect the entire game. That's going to be difficult, but I'll see what I can do.. MasterOfHisOwnDomain (talk) 19:22, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Is This New Picture Okay?

Image:Sim Family Watching T.V..jpg‎. Does it violate any rules of uploading photos to Wikipedia? Because, surely EA doesn't care that Sims videos are constantly being published on YouTube, Photobucket, blogs, etc. I created this picture, but didn't ask EA if the picture was okay, because they never listen to my questions. If it does violate any rules, please delete it. I have no idea how to delete articles.

Why this picture is a good one.

  1. 1. High Quality
  2. 2. The whole family is gathered, showing the diversity that can be created. (Parents, Teen, Toddler, Pet)
  3. 3. They're doing something that most real people do and can relate to.

I have another picture of the same scene, but it has a few things cut out of the shot. Tell me if you'd rather see that one, or just delete this scene and never bring it up again. Rj1020 (talk) 06:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

The Neighbourhood characters

a while ago there was a list of the premade characters and ther own pages, can we bring this back!!!i would but i dont know how!!!!(¬¬¬¬) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nedk16 (talkcontribs) 09:48, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it was removed because it was deemed "trivial", "superfluous" and "fancruft". If you did restore it, it would just be removed again. — Frecklefσσt | Talk 19:05, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

New suggestion for the Resources section

Is it okay to add the Sims Resource (www.thesimsresource.com) to the list, as it contains quite a lot of custom content and tutorials? Thanks. --Marianian (talk) 14:04, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

No, if you look at the archives for the talk page I think the decision was not to include fansites unless they'd been written about in a reliable source and thus count as notable. It's not very difficult to find fansites, especially ones as large as TSR, and that's not the purpose of wikipedia. Kuronue | Talk 19:21, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

The Sims 2: Apartments

Excuse me, but are websites the only valid reference for information? It seems to me that if an EA product (Free Time) comes with information on a new product, that should be a valid reference. The information on the upcoming Apartments expansion was removed because it isn't mentioned on their website. Who knows why EA hasn't announced it on their website yet? But they did announce it in their latest expansion. I understand a Sims resource site isn't reliable. But can't we just use the flyer as a ref and use the resource site for a visual until EA announces it on their site? Or is the image just a Photoshop job? — Frecklefσσt | Talk 17:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

SnootySims has been a well-known site in the Sims Community for more than five years. It has been a reliable source for the new flyers in the past. There's always a risk that a source is inaccurate, but the same can be said about any non-fiction book and those are usually accepted as excellent sources. If we're at a reasonable level of certainty that the flyer is real, then it is a publication by EA of an upcoming expansion and therefore a valid reference. Having thought about this, I'm going to take the risk of reverting Jammy0002's edit and I'll also invite him/her to discuss this with us in the talk section. Ariadne55 (talk) 18:07, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
My apologies, I didn't realise there was a reference. Well at least I am right in saying that EA would have one last surprise for us before packing up Sims 2 altogether. Jammy (talk) 18:33, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

It now appears on the official site index as "Apartment Life". .:Alex:. 07:18, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

The official BBS forum have an Apartment Life subsection in the Expansion Pack Discussions section ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.247.125.69 (talk) 00:17, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

There already is an article on this. —C. Raleigh (talk) 16:49, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Who keeps adding?

Who keeps adding landlord as the creature? I remember from and old thread on thesims2.ea.com's bbs from EA games that there isn't going to be landlords as a creature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.121.0.194 (talk) 18:04, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

After a quick scan of the history in the last week, I didn't find anybody who keeps adding landlord as a creature. Landlord is mentioned in the NPC section as that was clearly revealed in the flyer that first announced the game. Jammy (talk) 22:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

The flyer does not mention the landlord as an NPC, all it says is that "Sims discover apartment living - from getting along with new neighbors to meddle-some landlords". While landlord(s) may be an NPC, they may also be a new player-controlled interaction .... let's leave the speculation out until EA confirms one way or another. Article reverted to TBA. Fanx (talk) 22:47, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

"Getting along with … meddle-some landlords" implies that they will not be playable Sims. The flyer never mentions the possibility of controlling a landlord. —C. Raleigh (talk) 17:09, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

But he does have a point, we don't know what the landlords are until we get official confirment or the game actually comes out and we find out for ourselves. Jammy (talk) 17:52, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay then. —C. Raleigh (talk) 02:43, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
While I agree that the Landlord is probably an NPC (and while I hope playable sims can be Landlords) Wikipedia is not the place for speculation of this nature. I removed "Landlord" from the NPC column again and added an HTML comment in (probably futile) hopes of discouraging people from adding it back without proof. I'll give it, oh, 5 hours before it's added back. Aylad ['ɑɪlæd] 21:24, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I would not call it true speculation in this context, considering that the source does essentially imply it, but if you still feel it should not be there, that is fine with me. Like you, I still wish some people would pay attention to edit histories and hidden comments more often, but some people just ignore it anyway. —C. Raleigh (talk) 01:32, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

The Sims 2 Apartment Life Witches .... & Zombies

The new creature is a witch, confirmed here http://www.edenstyle.it/TS2_ExpansionPacks_Apartment_ENGL.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.242.63.65 (talk) 16:43, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I admit that I am just a casual The Sims 2 player, not a hardcore player, so I don't really know how reliable EdenStyle.it is. But, from the looks of it, it just looks like the 5000 other Sims 2 fansites out there, so I doubt it's really reliable. — Frecklefσσt | Talk 18:04, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I see that Jammy0002 added this information to the article. But I still think that EdenStyle.it is not a reliable source. It's just a fansite. Surely we can wait for confirmation from a reliable source. — Frecklefσσt | Talk 18:07, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
The screenshots provided on the website clearly show enough evidence for it to be reliable. Jammy (talk) 19:00, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Double-check me, since I might be wrong, but I think I remember Sims fansites being promised exclusive previews of upcoming expansions and stuff packs. This would make statements like "just a fansite, not reliable" somewhat harder to argue, since information from the programmer is reliable no matter where they post it first. On the other hand, I might be thinking about a different game entirely, so... Aylad ['ɑɪlæd] 04:35, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Developers

I just added the listed developer for each EP/SP because it's been causing quite a frenzy on the BBS and other sites about when the quality declined in relation to when Maxis stopped being the developer. I added this based on the links below and what I've also read elsewhere, notably about Maxis being the developer for Apartment Life, and if anyone has any other sources which content mine lets sort it out here.

Sources, in no particular order: http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p22138.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p35588.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p29073.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p32215.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p35419.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p34523.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p26198.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p25224.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p33151.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p31753.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p34261.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p30191.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p31070.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p28305.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p30337.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p31160.htm http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p33721.htm

Where it says developer was EA Games, EA, Electronic Arts, I put Redwood Shores in the table in the article because they are interchangeable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.96.70.197 (talk) 19:19, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

I disagree with the addition of the developers as the source is probably not accurate. I have participated in the forum discussions and we have reached the conclusion that there are errors in the sources. For example, take a look at the The Sims Life Stories page:
http://pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p31161.htm
The page shows EA as the developer, but it is Aspyr Studios who develops the Stories line of games.
http://www.aspyrstudios.com/games/featured/1
I would advise removing this addition since it is (1) not accurate and (2) not significant enough to warrant its addition to Wikipedia.--Funnykidrian (talk) 08:33, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
It's useless because Maxis doesn't work on The Sims franchise because they are focused on Spore ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iblis Trigger (talkcontribs) 21:56, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

ModTheSims2 redirects here?

ModTheSims2 and The Sims 2, while related, are completely different sites/games! ModTheSims2 provides custom content, mods, hacks, etc, as opposed to The Sims 2, which is a computer game. Can anyone tell me why this is redirected? Emilynkaylee (talk) 20:10, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

ModTheSims2 is not notable enough to warrant its own article. —C. Raleigh (talk) 17:39, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
ModTheSims2 is just a simple fan site, out of many fansites.75.49.7.84 (talk) 23:27, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Mansion & Garden Stuff

where is the source? I think we should remove this from sims2 wiki. There`s no confirmation taken from EA. Only from rumors they said 203.99.237.138 (talk) 05:05, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Removed, a lot of people add fan-made stuff packs to the list. People should never add new expansions or stuff packs without a source or it will always be removed. Thanks for bringing this stuff pack to my attention. Jammy (talk) 11:30, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
It's announced unofficially at VideoETA on November 5, 2008, but even if this SP9 will be certainly released, it isn't confirmed by EA yet. (Maybe early October) -- Iblis Trigger (talk) 21:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Careers in the Sims 2 and EP's

I was thinking about putting in more information about the careers in the Sims 2 and expansions but I am not quite sure which sources are recommended and which ones are not. Also, I could shorten the section about careers and add a new article that lists all of the careers in the Sims 2 and expansion packs and talks about not only the careers in general but gives a little bit of info on each career tract. Azemocram (talk) 17:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Mansion and Garden : SP9 and EP9

Well, M&G is labeled Sims2EP9.exe so that's meaning SP9 is also the EP9. -- Iblis Trigger (talk) 21:51, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Social Worker

I deleted the bit about the Social Worker being able to be killed/transformed/etc using cheats/hacks because information about hacks is not really useful and more important mods/hacks than those have not been mentioned in the article.Ruby.red.roses (talk) 00:34, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Wow...

Removing this from the article: "When the evil witch comes, talk to it. But it might poo all over the floor, then explode into millions of pieces. Collect the pieces, and you'll get a prize. (Hint: It's more poo on the floor!)"

until someone gets a creditable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.190.50.210 (talk) 01:40, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Minigames section

Only the first paragraph in the minigames section appears to actually be about minigames. The rest is information about neighbourhoods. Is there a reason for this? Jozal (talk) 12:19, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Death Seaction

I removed a fairly large list of the colours the ghosts of sims are when they die in different ways, (Gameplay section) It seemed very fansite-ish to me. Ruyter (talk) 23:43, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

New section?

Should we include a new section about all the game designers and engineers and everybody who currently works for The Sims? We can simply get the info in the Credits section in the game.75.49.7.84 (talk) 23:31, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Exclusive Collections from The Sims 2 Store

Seeing as how many of the collections include more than 60 items, which is the amount of items included in one stuff pack, I think we should add them back to the article. Perhaps under the add-ons section. --Funnykidrian (talk) 06:21, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Homebrew mods

Should something about the homebrew mods used for teen pregnancy have some sort of reference (if not briefly covered) as if it was included in the games code, it would be a world wide controversy (remember Hot Coffee?). UnknownThing (talk) 21:38, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Added more info to game customization section

I have beefed up the Game Customization section as I felt it was a bit lacking in info. It now has more information about the different methods and types of custom content, and about the paysite vs. free site debate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Greenhplover (talkcontribs) 06:54, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I removed your "reference" as the links of this type are not allowed. -- GSK (talkevidence) 06:57, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

It's not meant to be used as an argument against paysites, or proof that paysites are illegal, it's just meant to verify what the article says the opponents' argument against paysites is. Where in the rules does it say that that type of source is not allowed? I'm putting it back up until you or I can find that. Greenhplover (talk) 01:26, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
