Who Playable?[edit]

I've just seen all the characters on the list and I was just wanting to know who is playable in the game and does each game have a different characters from each other like if PS2 had two characters that are playable that the PS3 didn't have or are all the characters the same on each version? Please tell me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.154.85.201 (talk) 10:47, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have the list of characters you can play online with and here are the following:Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Breakaway, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Aerialbot, Protectobot, Megatron, Starscream, Grindor, Long Haul, Seeker and Sideways. There is rumors that there might be some downloadable content as in more characters to play as online.Xmotox (talk) 01:55, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The DLC is confirmed, just type in "revenge of the fallen DLC" for several sites linking to that. Although these DLC packs are 50/50 on being G1 skins or new characters, expect them to take the easy route of a reskin though. Is Sideswipe playable at all? I see conflicting reports on this.ThadiusCole (talk) 23:55, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sideswipe won't be available for online play, but he might be in the story mode. I'm not really sure on who is playable for the story modes. And if it is confirmed that there is DLC, we will be playing with other characters from the movie like Sideswipe or The Fallen. I want to play as Demolishor, he just looks threatening lol. But yeah back to my point, if they do DLC it will be other characters from the film. I'm just disappointed they didn't put The Fallen as a character for online play.Xmotox (talk) 03:23, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you think about it then it is the perfect way to get more money, by keeping characters out of MP. I hope the DLC will be new characters and not reskins since that would change the multiplayer aspect a little. A point on the character list on the wiki then should make two lists? Those who are playable in MP and those who are not. Since it mentions Sideswipe but not what mode he is playable in.ThadiusCole (talk) 13:51, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok folks, I just saw some footge of the game being played online. It looks awesome from what I am seeing, I really hope the DLC is not some characters that aren't even in the movie. If they do that, I will be disappointed, I think it should definitely be characters from the movie. But so far, this game looks 10 times better than the first game from the first movie. I am definitely getting this game and I'll se you all online on xbox live.Xmotox (talk) 17:54, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember this is for discussion on how to improve the article, and that Wikipedia is not a forum. Please move any non article-improving discussions elsewhere, (Such as this game's forum at Gamefaqs.com). Thanks --Teancum (talk) 20:59, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Am I reading that username right? If I am, then its a little wrong lol. Gamefaqs it is then totenkopf kommandant.ThadiusCole (talk) 23:04, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you click on my name you'd find out that it's not what you so crudely mentioned it is. I would appreciate you growing up a bit. Also, this isn't a forum, take comments like that elsewhere. --Teancum (talk) 23:31, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I already said I was kommandant, no more forum chat here understood 100% you made it very clear and I won't be posting here anymore mr.cum sir. Also the church of mormon, hmm nuff said there. I would really like to see those golden pages one day, if non mormon's/scientists/historians were permitted to.ThadiusCole (talk) 14:04, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no!!!! I see reskins in the game, I just hope they dont bring anymore out. Other than that, saw the movie it was awesome and I've been playing the game. I'm playing the decepticon side and I'm almost done, online is friggin awesome. I love the way they have everything setup on there. Lord I just hope the DLC is other characters from the movie. NO MORE STUPID G1 SKINS!!!! ALL HAIL DECEPTICONS!!!!!Xmotox (talk) 02:32, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I saw the G1 skins and al it is, is the colors change so don't worry no old versions from the cartoon thank gawd!!! But yeah it's just the color of them changes to what they were in the cartoon. Can't wait for some DLC so hurry up Activision.Xmotox (talk) 22:01, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ok who put rampage as playable cause their stupid he is not playable yet —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris56o (talkcontribs) 06:06, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would try and edit the character box on the article, but I would probably mess it up. Anyway the list needs sorting by console rather than who is available. Since the PC and PS3 and Xbox versions don't have sideswipe, skids, mudflap and arcee in them at all for the autobots alone. Until the DLC is explained it would be more efficient to list the characters by console.ThadiusCole (talk) 20:48, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, they should be listed by console. If not, it'll just create more confusion about who really is playable.68.9.241.197 (talk) 21:19, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that Jazz and Jetfire are playable, why is Jazz playable when he already died in the first one?Dinonerd4488 (talk) 20:25, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can download him as extra content on the Xbox 360 and PS3. --Teancum (talk) 21:02, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Table[edit]

Here's a table for list of playable characters. I was only able to fill in the table for Xbox, as that is the console for which I have the game. The PC and PS3 games are grouped with the Xbox in most circumstances, so I assumed they would also have the same character list. If anyone has further information, feel free to edit the table. Kev565 (talk) 14:43, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thx for that Kev565, I modified the Breakaway line to mention he is also a singleplayer character, and that Sideswipe isn't on the PC version.ThadiusCole (talk) 20:25, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the characters playable in both singleplayer and multi-player, i just put 'yes'; for those only playable in multiplayer, i put multiplayer; for those in the game but not playable, i put featured, and for those not in the game at all, i put 'no. hope that clears the system up a little, I should have included some explanation. 00:29, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I've added the playable decepticons for the PS3 that I know of so far (Only about 1/2 way through the campaign), will add more if I come across them. 11:57, 7 July 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.124.64.142 (talk)

I did add Omnibots (which includes Tracks for some reason) and the Combaticons to the Character list but Teancum stats that "grunt" characters are not notable" and undid it. Well the Aerialbots, Protectorbots and the Seekers could be classed as Grunt characters all be it playable ones. There is nothing to stop them from unlocking the Omnibots or Combaticons later, or even the other Aerialbots/Protectorbots and Seekers (color change, ala Gold Prime, etc), which is what I thought they would do with the new DLC, of which I have complained to them about. The Fallen, Devastator and Demolisher are all featured in the game and are non playable so why are they on the list then? Why not list the Omnibots and Combaticons on the list too. 17:24, 24 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.103.168.21 (talk)
But the table is to specifically state whether a character is playable. The featured template is just for convenience. The Aerialbot and Protectobot are playable in multiplayer, making them notable. It's also been confirmed that the Aerialbot will be playable in single player via DLC. I will remove The Fallen, Devastator and Demolisher per your note. --Teancum (talk) 17:50, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't the Aerialbot simply have "Yes" as opposed to "Multiplayer", since the character is playable in the single player autobot campaign? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eff One (talkcontribs) 21:51, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • He's only playable via a cheat code, which is not considered notable by Wikipedia standards. --Teancum (talk) 23:37, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cheat code? The only cheat codes I have entered in the game are the ones that unlock the gold Optimus Prime & Megatron and I have the choice to play Aerialbot on certain missions. Unless one of those aforementioned codes also unlocks Aerialbot in campaign mode?

My mistake - I was thinking Protectobot. But Aerialbot is covered with the ± symbol next to his name, which leads to the note "Character is available in campaign via downloadable content". We can't simply list him as playable because not everyone has the DLC. --Teancum (talk) 12:39, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah right that makes sense then. I missed that. Didn't realise he would not have been playable in campaign mode had I not downloaded the character pack. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eff One (talkcontribs) 09:39, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Teancum, Sorry if I came across slightly angry before, I just thought that the table should list all Transformers that appeared in the game, but I can live with all those that are playable and I can list those that just appear elsewhere.15:51, 27 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.103.168.21 (talk)
No problem -- it's just that listing everyone that appears ends up being rather "crufty" and it's really more for something like GameFaqs. I like to think of Wikipedia as a place to get an overview of something, and then you follow links at the bottom to learn more. --Teancum (talk) 15:13, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Large plan of characters for this game have been confirmed. There are screenshots of Sideswipe and G1 Starscream.Xmotox (talk) 02:41, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good, do you have a link to information about the late fall/winter releases? I have only heard of the first pack with Sideswipe and G1 starscream.ThadiusCole (talk) 17:08, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I got confirmation on 2 more characters of the ten being released. G1 Optimus Prime and Soundwave. Screenshots are available on gamespot.Xmotox (talk) 02:40, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Revenge of the Fallen received mixed reviews on the next-gen systems,[edit]

Hello, i believe the next gen systems term is very outdated already (xbox360 4 years old, ps3 3 years). instead of talking about current gen or next gen consoles i think we should instead just name the consoles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GBK2010 (talkcontribs) 16:03, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prose issues
  • Proper names of websites:Green tickY
    • Gamespot → GameSpotGreen tickY
    • Gamepro → GameProGreen tickY
    • Playstation → PlayStationGreen tickY
  • You missed some titles which need italics: Smash TV and Cannon Spike are examples. Go through again and italicize video game titlesGreen tickY
  • "Luxoflux" is a game developer (should be wikilinked, even if a redlink) and should not be italicized.Green tickY
  • Quotes are normally not italicized, like you have at the end of the 1st paragraph of the Autobots subsection.Green tickY
  • "Deathmatch" should be quoted and not italicized.Green tickY
  • In the Development section:
  • A two player survival mode allows players to select their characters and survive as long as they can against waves of enemies. → So two player survival mode allows players to survive as long as they can? When read like that, it doesn't necessarily make sense. Can that be tweaked?Green tickY
  • Reworded
  • The robots in both versions each have a special move which involves that character transforming temporarily. → sounds a bit wordy. Can you tweak it and make it more concise?Green tickY
  • Reworded
  • In the Audio subsection: Most notably, Frank Welker,... in both live action films. is a bit long of a sentence. Can you split that up into two sentences or portions?Green tickY
  • Reworded
  • In the PS2 and Wii subsection, The game ends with the destroyed pyramid being rebuilt by the Autobots, and Megatron and Starscream observing the creation of a massive Decepticon army now under their control. → Try to avoid instances of noun plus "-ing". A better way to write this (and similar instances) would be something like At the end of the game, the Autobots rebuild the destroyed pyramid, ....Green tickY
  • Reworded
  • In the same above subsection, Jetfire then goes to the desert, where he finds a weak energon signal, made by Optimus, who flew the escape pod to Egypt. → It sounds like the energon signal flew the escape pod to Egypt (when you mean Optimus). Can you tweak that to clarify?Green tickY
  • Reworded
  • In the same above subsection, Optimus and Megatron battle, ending with Megatron and The Fallen seemingly killing Optimus. → Same "noun plus '-ing'" problem.Green tickY
  • Reworded
  • In the Autobots subsection, Upon his defeat and before Optimus destroys him,... → sounds a bit redundant to say both. Can you combine that or perhaps cut out the "upon his defeat" part?Green tickY
  • Reworded
  • In the Gameplay section, you used the second-person "you" (the objective is to take out the enemy leader (Optimus Prime or Megatron) while protecting your own.), which is a no-no. Needs to be third-person.Green tickY
  • Reworded
MoS issues
  • Per MOS:PAIC, inline citations go after the end-punctuation. Please correct those instances where they are before the end-punctuation.Green tickY
  • That 1st paragraph in the Reception section may be a tad over-cited. Normally I would place this under the "other things to remember" section, but I'm afraid that the overabundance of citations there may put off readers. Along with eliminating redundant citations (see below), move those inline citations that are mid-sentence to the end of the sentence or after the nearest end-punctuation. For the ones in which you have multiple citations, try to only use the one (or two if absolutely necessary) references that are of the highest quality.Green tickY
  • Removed a few references that exist in the reviews table. --Teancum (talk)

Some citation issues:

Verifiability issues
  • The 2nd half of the 2nd paragraph in the Development section is not sourced. It also sounds like it's original research.Green tickY
  • Altered paragraph and sourced what remained. --Teancum (talk)
  • That very last sentence in the article is not sourced.Green tickY
  • A few of your quotes, especially in the Reception section, do not have citations afterwards. You need to have a citation after every quote, even if it may cause redundancy (as I said below, unless quotes are involved).Green tickY
  • In the Development section, The game involves heavy shooting action, and no transforming whatsoever. is not supported by the source given.Green tickY
  • Removed - there's not much out there on the PSP version, so I just cut the sentence.
  • In the lead, The PS2 and Wii versions combine the Autobot and Decepticon stories into one campaign that alternates between factions, similar to Halo 2. → The end, similar to Halo 2, is not mentioned in the article body. It needs to be sourced or alternatively removed.Green tickY
  • Removed

Image issues
  • Some of the captions have end-punctuation where they shouldn't. Per WP:CAPTION, if the caption is not a complete sentence, then it doesn't get end-punctuation.Green tickY
Other things to remember

Note: this is not counted against this GAN, but the following are recommend to correct, especially when this article approaches FA.

  • Unless quotes are involved, you only need one inline citation at the end of what you're citing. For example, in the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs in the Development section, you're using the same quote redundantly. Just have the one citation at the end of that information and remove the preceding ones.Green tickY
Conclusions

still reviewing, will eventually place on hold. That's what I have for now, in which you can get started. I'll comb through the prose later on and place above any other prose issues that I see. –MuZemike 00:08, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Rather than the good ole' strikeout, I'm marking anything addressed with a checkbox, (Green tickY) and then if you feel it's truly taken care of you can strike it out if you wish. --Teancum (talk) 02:34, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Latest batch of fixes have all been completed. --Teancum (talk) 14:08, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On hold pending the last few improvements. –MuZemike 20:32, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blackout/Grindor[edit]

So it says on this article that Grindor might be the same character as Blackout, however this is arguably just fan speculation considering the fact that Blackout died in the first Transformers. The only difference I've found between the two besides the name is that they're two different helicopters.

That is, unless it's trying to suggest that "Grinder" is actually Blackout resurrected since he has rust on his body (similar to how BO's body was dumped in the sea, where metal would usually rust), him being named Blackout in the junior novel and the fact that he doesn't appear until AFTER Megatron's resurrection.

So should we put the speculation aside or actually to try confirm that Grindor is actually Blackout but named differently in the toyline, for reasons?

However, the characters is called Blackout in the game's internal files.
