Release date[edit]

Any believable source for the release date of the single? Josh (talk) 05:52, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. I've seen March, but I have no idea if that's right; it'll likely be sometime around the release date of the move The Last Song. At any rate, promotion has begun for it, and it's charted well on a national chart. Liquidlucktalk 02:32, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in When I Look at You[edit]

Anomiebot comment

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of When I Look at You's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 01:50, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I collapsed Anomiebot's comment above because of the length of the list. I figure the bot won't mind. Liquidlucktalk 22:12, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fake cover removed[edit]

Even Rolling Stone was confused. The real cover is this one; the blog calls it the soundtrack cover, but the words "When I Look at You" and "From the original motion picture" are visible. Liquidlucktalk 01:28, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It looks real, there are other pictures like that, inside the CD and back cover. I guess it's real.Josh (talk) 03:49, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. The old one, the one Rolling Stone posted, must be a fan cover. Liquidlucktalk 04:59, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why changed the cover into The Time of Our Lives EP cover?Josh (talk) 07:19, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored the image. liquidlucktalk 23:56, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, the current artwork looks very fake. What proof do you have that is the official single cover? Are you even sure a cover for the single exists? All sites only use the artwork for the EP to represent the song. That link to that blog you posted states "And thanks to MileyPhotos.org, we have the cover for the soundtrack." That is not a reliable source. The file should be removed from the article until a more stable source can confirm it to be the true artwork. –Scarce 03:05, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the blog isn't a reliable source, but it was enough to cast doubt that the old cover, the one Rolling Stone posted (and the one we were talking about above), was the real cover. In fact, the old cover turned out to be made by a person under the name "Miles Cyrus" trying to pass off his work as Miley Cyrus'.
The new cover wasn't added until I was able to find a reliable source hosting it. The source I found was this website, the official website of the radio station KDND. Hope that clears it up. liquidlucktalk 03:48, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject[edit]

I am proposing a WikiProject for all matter relating to Miley Cyrus. There are many articles for topics of her music and acting career so having an organized system with proper editors and collaborators would be great. To sign up or support the project please go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Miley Cyrus. Thank you. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 18:07, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cover versions?[edit]

The song was edited into a duet version featuring Miley Cyrus and David Bisbal (singing in both Spanish and English). A music video for this was also released, should this be included in the article? I heard somewhere that it will be included as a bonus track in La Última Canción soundtrack (The Last Song in Spanish) Josh (talk) 07:46, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well written[edit]

  • 'Composition' section: "Jocelyn Vena, also of MTV News, interpreted "When I Look at You"'s lyrics to be about her dream boy." should be reworded to avoid the use of an apostrophe after speech marks. Maybe "Jocelyn Vena, also of MTV News, interpreted the lyrics of "When I Look at You" to be about her dream boy."
    • Likewise, the 'Music video' section: "When I Look at You"'s music video was directed by Adam Shankman, producer of The Last Song. should be reworded to The music video of "When I Look at You" was directed by Adam Shankman, producer of The Last Song.
      •  Done
  • Heather Phare's quotes doesn't need square brackets around the elipses "When she lets her [...] ballad-singing diva..."
    • If you are removing some of the text, does it need brackets? Because that is the scenario here. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 21:56, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • No, the elipses (...) represent remove text. Brackets are used for added or implied text. Adabow (talk) 09:07, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
        •  Done
  • Music video section Two alternate versions of the music video were later released: one replaces the cut-scenes of Cyrus and Hemsworth with clips from The Last Song and another for the song's remix featuring Bisbal. needs a comma, ie Two alternate versions of the music video were later released: one replaces the cut-scenes of Cyrus and Hemsworth with clips from The Last Song, and another for the song's remix featuring Bisbal. A rearrangement of references is also needed, see below.
    •  Done
  • 'Live performances' section: Cyrus is then emerged from the bottom of the stage while playing a white grand piano, sitting on a bench. Midway through the song, Cyrus stands up and continues performing while the video screens are brought down to Cyrus' height. should be written in past tense
    •  Done

References[edit]

  • The first sentence of the 'Background' section (about writers) needs a reference.
    •  Done
  • The plot of the music video needs a reference.
    • Actually, it does not. That would be like referencing a plot in a book or film. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 21:51, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Two alternate versions of the music video were later released: one replaces the cut-scenes of Cyrus and Hemsworth with clips from The Last Song and another for the song's remix featuring Bisbal.[20][3] - these references should be re-organised so that citation 20 is placed after its relevant point (ie Two alternate versions of the music video were later released: one replaces the cut-scenes of Cyrus and Hemsworth with clips from The Last Song,[20] and another for the song's remix featuring Bisbal.[3]), or put the earlier reference first (ie Two alternate versions of the music video were later released: one replaces the cut-scenes of Cyrus and Hemsworth with clips from The Last Song, and another for the song's remix featuring Bisbal.[3][20]
    •  Done

Broad[edit]

Detailed and descriptive, yet not too long.

Neutral[edit]

No bias or unfair representation.
