Going to the Dogs[edit]

Wim T. Schippers, 1999

* ... that Dutch television writer and director Wim T. Schippers (pictured) wrote and directed Going to the Dogs, a play for six German shepherds, Ronflonflon, a radio show full of jingles, and TV shows for the VPRO including De Fred Haché Show, Barend is weer bezig, Het is weer zo laat!, De lachende scheerkwast, and Op zoek naar Yolanda?

Created by Drmies (talk), Yngvadottir (talk) (for Ronflonflon). Nominated by Drmies (talk) at 02:22, 27 August 2013 (UTC).

  • All 7 articles are long enough and were created between August 19 and August 23rd. That sort of makes some of them too late for this August 27th nomination. Since we have been having trouble keeping 3 queues full per day, I will let this slide. I also think some of the lateness may also have been a result of Template:Did you know nominations/Wim T. Schippers which included these articles and was entirely timely on the 23rd.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:40, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Which citation are you referring to, Tony? Drmies (talk) 14:24, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Well, as far as I'm concerned it's common knowledge that he created the show and played Jacques Plafond, but I found another reference to support it. It's also verified, BTW, in the show's website. Drmies (talk) 02:47, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Goed to go! Well, I've gone over them all (for my sins). Obviously not a patch on the UK's sublime broadcasting but then again, what is?
ps. The third sentence in the 'DVD release' section of De Fred Haché Show needs looking at. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 09:08, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. Sorry I missed that. Drmies (talk) 04:08, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
  • The hook is technically overlength (209 prose characters, by my count, after eliminating all but the first bold link from the count), and I think having "writer and director" and "wrote and directed" is repetitive and thus should be avoided. Two possibilities I can see:
  1. Delete "Dutch television writer and director"
  2. Change "Dutch television writer and director" to "Dutch artist" if you want to retain "Dutch", since he's also an artist
Thoughts? Preferences? I think doing one or the other will be an improvement, or you might have another idea entirely. BlueMoonset (talk) 13:56, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
I reckon 'artist' covers it nicely. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 14:19, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
Hey now, it was peanut butter, not piss. BlueMoonset, let's go with option two. Honestly, I don't really see the need for a separate reference for "artist" since in my book that covers TV productions as well, but I expanded the background section for Going to the Dogs with a phrase that makes sense and reference to his Pindakaasvloer. Does that do the trick? Also, zeugma type 1. :) Thanks, Drmies (talk) 04:16, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Restoring approval per Hillbillyholiday's earlier tick and the following shortened hook, preferred by Hillbillyholiday and Drmies, listed as ALT1:
Note that as Going to the Dogs premiered on September 19, this is going to be a special occasion hook for that date. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:18, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
