Professor of Latin American Literature at the University of Michigan, has published a number of works about Spanish and Latin American novels of the XIX and XX centuries. The contributor has also taught at UCLA, Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University, plus has been Visiting Professor at Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad Autónoma de México and Universidad Central de Venezuela.
