Hey ![edit]

Hey man, I was quite busy with a few things in real life. But now I am back. Yeah, some of those Maratha-related articles are in a real mess. Someone is now adding extreme Hindutva-links and views in Shivaji article. Looks like POV will keep on pouring in these articles. I saw the new article on Battle of Patan. You've done a magnificient job. Why not nominate it for DYK ? I will also try to work on it and a few more articles. Keep rockin' --NRS | T/M\B 04:39, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to WP:India[edit]

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
  • Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!

Deaths in 2007[edit]

I'm sorry, that edit was made whilst I was unsigned in. However, I stand by my edit. It was added by an anonymous editor. Upon search for an "Alan Pinette", I came up with nothing. Also a gay pornstar dying of AIDS, at the young age of 21, is surprising. Due to the care taken to keep STDs out of the porn industry, as well as the age of the pornstar, I don't see it happening. It's possible, but unlikely. I stand by my edit. I would, after commenting on your talk page, revert the edit myself, but someone else has already done so.

My guess is that it was someone vandalizing the page, putting the name on that page of someone they know (And dislike) in real life. Cheers. --Scorpios 01:23, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hindutva propaganda[edit]

It's a funny article. 58.178.172.75 03:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Well, if you can point to me some references that make clear distinctions between the NAIT and Hindutva ideological writings on that matter, I would be interested. Presently, it would be difficult for you to deny that some "Hindutva related publications", like those of VOI, are strongly pro-NAIT (Danino, Elst etc.). If NAIT revisionism is unrelated to Hindutva, I will make the corrections, I will reckon my mistake, and I will thank you. Presently, the only point I can notice in favour of your opinions is that Savarkar was very likely initiated by Tilak, the author of "Artic pole in the Vedas". But may be you are right, so feel free to tell me. Also, please, don't call me "uninformed". Thanks. TwoHorned 13:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hindutva propaganda[edit]

What is your opinion on this, it's a phenomenon ripping Wikipedia apart from the seams, with fanatical supporters of Swami Vivekananda and his RSS revising history to make people believe lies. Think of all the children that enter Wikipedia and see this revisionist history and will need deprogramming in the future. I commend our maintsream admins. I support the neutrality and common non-OR sense of our admins. By the way, did you know that Swami Vivekananda himself used to write propaganda and publish it in Voice of India. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.178.139.138 (talk) 23:54, 3 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Reg: Goa Inquisition[edit]

Please be civil in your discussion. I knew that you and others who have been involved in the recent disput reg HKelkar issue were either blocked or couldnt edit the article. I could merrily have changed entire portions given their absence, but I did not. I prefered waiting till you got back from your problems.

And what do I get in return? You come along and make silly alegations. "Moronical tag"?. The tag I have put was a valid replacement for two tags that existed earlier.

You aren't the only one in the world who feels that his sources are credible. I have recently read a book which is about the entire history of Konkanis and in particular Mangalorean Chrsitians. Akhileus has said that he is reading Priolkar's book and I am willing to wait until he has fininshed before we make any discussions or changes. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 08:51, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In case of any doubt please see WP:CIVIL and WP:AGF. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 08:51, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. I put that comment about Bakaman very well aware that it could be used against me anytime, and I am prepared for the consequences (I have been blocked twice for 3RR violation and on one occasion it was deliberate).I wrote it once and didn't save it and then put it again. Sometime you just have to let go and I did just that. I have been really pissed off by POV pushers and even the most patient of men slip up and I admit i did it with full consciousness. OK with that out of the way let me get back to the Goa Inquisition Article.

I think the tags are fully justified. And although there is no guidline on removal of such tags I believe there should be a good degree of consensus before such tags are removed. I dont know why the mediation cabal left it halfway. PS: Please wait I will give the rest of my reply soon —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 09:41, 27 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

OK!Now let me come to the IDONTLIKEIT bit. I first read the article 6-7 months back. I beleived much of it then. it was only when I read up more deeply on the history of Goa that I found that there was much difference between the accounts. I revisited this article maybe 3-4 weeks back and found that it had really degenerated. I vowed to keep of contentious issues for a long time but saw that this article wasn't just biased but it was wholly inncaucrate! Just how can the events in 1510 be included in the Inquisiton which started in 1554. I put a comment and waited some time before removing the section. First Dboy then baka reverted it. They are experienced users and I am sure they know enough to read the talk page and see if someone has commented on the change. In fact Baka reverted the change even though I had explained it in detail within the edit summary. It shows that he wasnt interested in being encyclopedic , he was interested in pushing his POV. That is why I made that comment about him on ANI.

I have just gone through the history of the article. You haven't made a single edit or discussion before today. Yet all of a sudden , you removed tags calling them moronic. No discussion! nothing!. Your behavior shows the same pattern as DBoy and Baka! I wonder why?

Lastly let me reply to your statement that the article has "slight exaggerations". That statement itself is oxymoronic! isn't it! :-)

If I could I would rip the whole article apart and rewrite it again!. The article isn't just slightly exaggerated it is wholly trash! Why? True that the Portuguese massacred the Muslims. True that they heaped such banal laws and forced the Hindus to convert(That is why I am writing to you as Deepak D'Souza instead of Deepak Nayak). But the inquisition never had anything to do with Hindus. It was directed at Jews and Christians who still continued with Hindu practices. The only Hindus who came under the purview of the Inquisition were those who were accused of preventing a Hindu from converting or tried to get a convert to revert to Hinduism(which itself was not possible). The pressure tactics applied to the Hindus started before the Inquisition and continued regardless of it till the late 1700s or something.

Want to know why I am so against this article?: Because the sufferings heaped on Goas Christians during the Inquizisao have been appropriated by some "historians" and converted into the sufferings of Konkani Hindus and hence all Hindus. Goas Christians, unwilling converts themselves have been made to look like Portuguese-supporters. Their travails have been ignored to make it look like only the Hindus suffered.

And it still continues. Want an example?:One article by the Goa Marathi academy which hasn't digested the fact that Goa rejected merger with Maharashtra and that Konkani became the official language of Goa in 1987 has derided Konkanis as "purtugezdarjinya" meaning Portuguese-supporters or Portuguese slaves. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 10:18, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, I started that article. Second, it's well sourced by a peer reviewed book. third, we've had a christian fanatic repeatedly vandalize the article. So you what you need to do is chill out, show us your primary sources and maybe we can reach a concensus on the matter. Think about it. What would jesus do in your situation?--D-Boy 17:58, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Replied on DBoys Talk page --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 05:02, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Atleast I did it in the open. I knew you were bound to read it someday or the other(in fact I expected you would reply sooner!). I could have sent him an email or something(like this little ArbCom thing you are involved with). I dont stab people in the back. And the statements are your own, so be prepared to take responisbility for your statements. You may have been here for 2 years or 10 . That doest make a difference . No apologies. If you feel I have done something wrong ther ANI is always available. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 04:46, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dont delete talk page content[edit]

Please don't delete talk page content. Except in the case of vandalism serious or serious PA it is not allowed. ALs please see WP:AGF. Calling someone a troll just because you may not lie what he/she says isnt good. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 11:32, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who is stalking your edits. Is there any rule that prevents a user from editing pages that naother user has? No! There are a lot of pages on my watchlist and if your edits show up is that supposed to be stalking?

Agreed that a lot of his edits have been lousy and he has rightly been blocked. But in this case he did not express a POV but merely asked about an article that presented a different version as compared to what was written in the article. How does that constitute trolling? Anyway the article was not written by him. Just becasue he presented an excerpt from an article which may not be of liking to you it does not constitute POV.

As far as being on Wikipedia for two years that does not necessarily make you greater than anyone else. Please see WP:CAI. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 05:02, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You should be nicer. You're negative energy isn't helping the fresh start, deepak. I recommend a wiki break! :-D--D-Boy 07:37, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stalking[edit]

In the Shivaji page you mentioned that you are being stalked. This is my 2 cents. Stalkers usually also violate other behavioral related wiki policies. Stalkers are stalkers because there is a character flow in their personality which is obsessive manic behavior. You can use this weakness to your advantage. Initially, when ever you see the stalker editing right behind you, you warn him in the talk page or his user talk page. Be bold in your warnings; let him/her give you the excuses. Once you have warned him/her long enough, say five times. Then you set a trap for the moron. You create an article that you know will inflame the bugger without any categories or links. It is an encyclopedic article following all the wiki rules. That is, it is a legitimate article. (look negative conflict can lead to positive results) Once he/she edits it furiously, you got him/her to take ANI. You do this 2 times and next time you are in Arbcom and the stalker is kaput. But remember the stalker is also most potentially violating other policies such as civil, attack, agf, and attack. Keep track of all of them so that it will help you in the ANI and Arbcom. But mostly by then the stalker knows your game plan and decides to do something else with his/her irrelevant life. Don’t allow a nut case to drive you out of Wikipedia or modify your behavior. But do take care of you’re A/Levels, that is more important than Wikipedia. CiaoTaprobanus 13:25, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
