Wikipedia Ambassadors update

Hi! You're getting this message because you are or have been a Wikipedia Ambassador. A new term is beginning for the United States and Canada Education Programs, and I wanted to give you an update on some important new information if you're interested in continuing your work this term as a Wikipedia Ambassador.

You may have heard a reference to a transition the education program is going through. This is the last term that the Wikimedia Foundation will directly run the U.S. and Canada programs; beginning in June, a proposed thematic organization is likely to take over organizing the program. You can read more about the proposal here.

Another major change in the program will take effect immediately. Beginning this term, a new MediaWiki education extension will replace all course pages and Ambassador lists. (See Wikipedia:Course pages and Help:Education Program extension for more details.) Included in the extension are online volunteer and campus volunteer user rights, which let you create and edit course pages and sign up as an ambassador for a particular course.

If you would like to continue serving as a Wikipedia Ambassador — even if you do not support a class this term — you must create an ambassador profile. If you're no longer interested in being a Wikipedia Ambassador, you don't need to do anything.

Please do these steps as soon as possible

First, you need the relevant user rights for Online and/or Campus Ambassadors. (If you are an admin, you can grant the rights yourself, for you as well as other ambassadors.) Just post your rights request here, and we'll get you set up as quickly as possible.

Once you've got the ambassador rights, please set up at a Campus and/or Online Ambassador profile. You can do so at:

Going forward, the lists of Ambassadors at Special:CampusAmbassadors and Special:OnlineAmbassadors will be the official roster of who is an active Ambassador. If you would like to be an Ambassador but not ready to serve this term, you can un-check the option in your profile to publicly list it (which will remove your profile from the list).

After that, you can sign on to support courses. The list of courses will be at Special:Courses. (By default, this lists "Current" courses, but you can change the Status filter to "Planned" to see courses for this term that haven't reached their listed start date yet.)

As this is the first term we have used the extension, we know there will be some bugs, and we know the feature set is not as rich as it could be. (A big wave of improvements is already in the pipeline. And if you know MediaWiki and could help with code review, we'd love to have your help!) Please reach out to me (Sage Ross) with any complaints, bug reports, and feature suggestions. The basic features of the extension are documented at Wikipedia:Course pages, and you can see a tutorial for setting up and using them here.

Communication and keeping up to date

In the past, the Education Program has had a pretty fragmented set of communication channels. We're trying to fix that. These are the recommended places to discuss and stay up-to-date on the education program:

  1. The education noticeboard has become the main on-wiki location for discussion of the Education Program. You can post there about broad education program issues as well as issues with individual courses.
  2. The Ambassadors Announce email list is a very low-traffic announcements list of important information all Ambassadors need to be aware of. We encourage all Ambassadors (and other interested Wikipedians) to subscribe to the list; follow the instructions on the link to add your email address.
  3. If you use IRC regularly, or need to try to reach someone immediately, the #wikipedia-en-ambassadors connect IRC channel is the place to find me and fellow Ambassadors.
Ambassador training and resources

We now have an online training for Ambassadors, which is intended to be both an orientation about the Wikipedia Ambassador role for newcomers and the manual for how to do the role. (There are parallel trainings for students and for educators as well.)

Please go through the training if you feel like you need a refresher on how a typical class is supposed to go and where the Ambassadors fit in, or if you want to review and help improve it. If there's something you'd like to see added, or other suggestions you have for it, feel free to edit the training and/or leave feedback. A primer on setting up and using course pages is included in the educators' training.

The Resources page of the training is the main place for Ambassador-related resources. If there's something you think is important as a resource that's not on there, please add it.

Finally, whether or not you work with any classes this term, I encourage you to post entries to the Trophy Case whenever you see excellent work from students or if you have great examples from past semesters. And, as always, let students (and other editors!) know when they do things well; a little WikiLove goes a long way!

Bavarian TV Awards

Hello. I noticed that you recently tagged this list for translation. However, this is basically just a list of names of actors and film or series titles in German, so I'm not sure what you would like to see translated. If you meant to have all the German titles translated to English, please let me know. De728631 (talk) 17:08, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Alright. I guess the list needs a general, thorough cleanup, so I'm going to take a shot at it. De728631 (talk) 10:12, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
Yikes, amid this massive wall of text I first hadn't even seen the many German phrases in the lower part of the list. So I hope I caught them all. De728631 (talk) 12:58, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Politics of Piracy Class Wiki

Hey. Thanks for your help, and I'm glad you're following the class. The text on all of those pages was the same, as I was just trying to figure out the correct place to put it where the students could easily post their responses. This is all very new to me, and even newer for them, so i'm glad to have some guidance. Thanks! Atavel (talk) 20:36, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Great, thanks for adding that link. Yeah, I'd also like to post my ppt presentation to the wiki also. Do you know a way to do that? I'm using Microsoft PPT....which I'm a bit ashamed of... I also, want to start recording my lectures and post that...and maybe put that on the Wordpress site for the course (which I was previously using). Slight concern over one of your student's pages

Hi Geniac. I've tangentially come across your students' project whilst sorting out some AIV issues with one of them (all dealt with, no blocks, don't fret!). However, I'm a bit concerned over their selected article - I actually ended up creating the page on Laura Widyanto‎ myself, to stop their repeated addition of placeholder text, but I'm really not sure she's going to meet WP:GNG or WP:PROF. The only sources in the article are primary ones (including LinkedIn, of all things), and although I dug up one just-about-usable source at creation (since removed), I've located nothing else since. You might want to take a look and offer some assistance; speaking with my admin trousers on, if I saw that tagged with a {{db-a7}} in its current state I wouldn't have to think twice before hitting the bye-bye button. Still, kudos for getting your pod up and editing; both my classes are all still at the sandbox stage, so you're ahead of the game! All the best, Yunshui  23:21, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

I appreciate your help; I know a bunch of students have been hitting the Teahouse pretty hard and I've seen consistently good advice from you there. I agree that Laura Widyanto‎ doesn't currently appear to meet GNG or PROF. I've added a refimprove tag and restored the ref you added. I'll post to the article talk page later with some specific info about notability and sourcing. --Geniac (talk) 02:38, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
Grand, good to know you're on top of it. Cheers, Yunshui  08:06, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Releasing an article to the Public

Hello Geniac, You have recently spoke to us on my talkpage regarding our Wiki project on Evelyn Ellerman for the university of Hull, Scarborough Campus. As you maybe aware we get marked on engagement but we can't get engagement marks without releasing the article to the public. And that requires notability. I am incredibly confused about the whole process of Wikipedia along with the project. Is there any advice you could give us regarding this matter. It would be very appreciated. Feedback on talk page proposal

Hi there Geniac. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post a message to you, but you recently gave me some feedback on a proposed article change that I have on my talk page. I edited the article's talk page (found here) and added the "Determination of Damages" section, discussing what I would like to add. Does this seem like an appropriate way to discuss my proposal? Additionally, it seems the last edit to the article was almost a year ago - does this mean that I probably will not get a response from the other contributors? Thanks for your help! The article Kelly Shibari has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails PORNBIO, listed awards are insignificant and/or not for individual performance, marked by a thorough absence of independent reliable sourcing

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 16:13, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

So, did you have this page Speedily Deleted while I was still trying to improve it? It's apparently your page to do with as you please, but I was just wondering... Guy1890 (talk) 01:02, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Amit Kumar

On what basis you say Amit Kumar article contains rumours and is not neutral? The ones I added were details of the songs which he sang and were in particular famous. If a song became popular/famous/rage/hit then what word should be mentioned? There is no other alternative other than mentioning the same words.PrithviSanju (talk) 06:51, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

None of the above. Those are unprovable, subjective, vague peacock terms. Instead of saying a song became popular, use facts and figures to demonstrate it. For example, "this song was listed in such-and-such magazine on their annual Best Songs Of The Year list, has been covered by dozens of other singers and sold 20 million copies." It is then up to the reader to deduce, "wow, that song was popular!" --Geniac (talk) 13:35, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

At present i can only say those songs need to appear in wiki. just suggest a word which is non-peacock. the sentence can be modified - with words replacing the terms like popular/rage/famous.PrithviSanju (talk) 18:10, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

No, it's not a matter of me suggesting an alternate word for you to use. The point is to not use any such word. All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view. --Geniac (talk) 19:01, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

For Binaca I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaca_Geetmala_annual_list_1980 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaca_Geetmala_annual_list_1977 in wiki itself.PrithviSanju (talk) 14:55, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Ok, that's good! We can't say a song was popular, but we can definitely give the fact that a radio show deemed them popular. I've reworded the two mentions of Binaca Geetmala to directly reflect what those lists are for. Now we just have to find external sources to verify those lists. --Geniac (talk) 15:47, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

http://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/2003/jul/59102.htm - this source can help to prove 2 songs tu rootha toh and roz roz ankhon tale continue to be popular till date and http://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/2013/jan/050113-bollywood-amit-kumar-talks-about-his-association-with-the-late-rd-burman.htm has a para on the first song he recorded after his father's death - Rama O Rama and mentiones Jeeva was flop. Infcat this quote needs to find a mention in wiki. - "My song Roz roz aankhon tale with Asha Bhosle which is so popular today, was a flop when it was composed in 1987. It has gained popularity in the last five years. Destiny, I guess. Today we have fabulous technology to support film music. But listen to the clarity he brought to the sound of the 1960s and ’70s. Absolutely clean recording. I sang for him till his end. I remember the title song in the film, Rama O Rama was my first recording after my father expired. My father died on October 13, 1987 and on January 1, 1988 I recorded the song in Rama O Rama."...That would be great.PrithviSanju (talk) 05:51, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Sure, we can quote people where they talk about their opinions of films. --Geniac (talk) 11:14, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Amitabh

There are 2 kinds of mistakes happening in wiki. One is Over Glorification (or complete wrong information listed out) of articles related to people from Film industry(Amitabh) and other is very less information about their successful careers (like in case of Amit Kumar).

Can you help out rectify the various errors in Amitabh article? Overglorification of Amitabh - as even disasters at box office are shown in wiki as hits!! Following films were disasters Saat Hindustani Gehri Chaal Bandhe Haath Mili (1975) Zameer (1975) Faraar (1975) Alaap (1977) Immaan Dharam (1977) Besharam (1978) The Great Gambler (1979) Jurmana (1979) Manzil (1979) Do Aur Do Paanch (1980) Shaan (1980) Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (1981) Silsila (1981) Bemisal (1982) Pukar (1983) Nastik (1983) Mahaan (1983) Inquilaab (1984) Geraftaar (1985) Aakhree Raasta (1986) Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswathi (1988) Main Azaad Hoon (1989) Toofan (1989) Jaadugar (1989) Agneepath (1990) Ajooba (1991) Indrajeet (1991) Akayla (1991) Khuda Gawah (1993) Insaniyat (1994) Mrityudaata (1997) Lal Baadshah (1999) Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999) Kohram (1999) Aks (2001) In wiki its written that Silsila, Shakti, Bemisaal etc were successful - Its a wrong information. Infact he has flops right from 1981-1999. Only Shahensahah, Sharabhi, Coolie and Mard and Hum were successful in between 1982-1999 as the lead hero. So please rectify the mistake.PrithviSanju (talk) 18:14, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

No, if you believe you have found a mistake in Wikipedia, you are free to rectify it yourself. Just be mindful of the WP:NPOV policy, which means we do not describe films as hits, successes, flops or disasters. --Geniac (talk) 19:06, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

The edit done by me was regarding the awards and impact of the film. In the award list in the wikipedia article of the film itself it can be seen how many awards the film has won. And regarding the sourcing, it will be done shortly. For the time being I am reverting it back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.212.144.141 (talk) 04:16, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

September 2013

Hello Geniac. I had an edit war with you and I'm really confused. If I hurt you, I beg in advance your pardon. So I would to clarify this disagreement. Since few years, I created lot of articles here and contributed mostly to articles related to Tamil cinema. Please see these following articles :

  • Alex Pandian : "Upon its release on January 11, 2013, the film was panned by critics. The film's dubbed Telugu version Bad Boy was released on March 22." No source.
  • 3 : "3 released on 30 March 2012 to critically acclaim and was a Commercial Success at the box office." 1 source.
  • Thalapathi : "The film, being set in a contemporary milieu at the time of its release, emerged as a critical and commercial success during its theatrical run." 1 source.
  • Endhiran : "The film received positive critical acclaim and became a commercial success selling about 3 crore tickets worldwide." 2 sources.
  • Malabar Police : "Despite negative reviews from the critics, the film performed well at the box office." 2 sources.
  • Soori : "Though Soori won critical acclaims, it disappeared without any trace at the box office." 3 sources.

If these five articles are non-neutral, 90% of articles related to Tamil Cinema are non-neutral ! Terminator92 (talk) 15:22, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Saying that a film "performed well" or was a "commercial success" is an opinion. We can't say that in an article unless we directly attribute that statement to somebody. For example, "According to John Smith of The New York Times, the film was a commercial success." The other thing we can do is provide the box office gross and let a reader decide, "wow, that film sure was a commercial success". You're right; many articles related to films are non-neutral. --Geniac (talk) 15:36, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor age is still unknown. She is not born in 1987,

Hi, it has been already edit war on Shraddha Kapoor age, numerous newspapers indicated her age differently, all are secondary sources and also accurate ones. Be reasonable, view the history and the talk page. It is quite correct not to add her DOB, with proper sources as it is still unknown, remove her DOB, in the page and let it be blank. Archana Ramdonee 05:22, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Shraddha Kapoor

(removed duplicate of this post)

I beg the differ CINTAA is not an accurate and reliable source to prove Shraddha Kapoor, DOB.

(removed duplicate of this post)

It makes sense to leave Shraddha Kapoor DOB, section blank, rather than providing dubious account. IF i am acting as a Vandalism, as i had been warned and report just block me then.... Archana Ramdonee 13:54, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

CINTAA, is not an accurate website providing illogical information about Bollywood personalities.

(removed duplicate of this post)
My talk page is not the appropriate place to discuss this. The article's talk page is. I see you have posted the above messages in several places, so I have removed them from here. I didn't accuse you of vandalism, or warn you, report you or block you. I saw you edit warring. I decided to prevent that from continuing by protecting the article. Blocking you would have prevented you from discussing the disputed source on the article talk page, which you should have been doing in the first place. --Geniac (talk) 00:07, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

I have already clarified and proved quite sources in the talk page, but yet there is no action taken against it, the best consensus is to leave her DOB section blank, the page was already and still in edit war due to her age conflicts. IT IS SO DUBIOUS to add her age DOB, that she never declared and spoken about that to an illogical sources.

That quite reasonable, i am not accusing or blaming others yet watch my actions. I do not know what you want to prove my fully protect the page, after adding unstable sources to her DOB.

There is praise Sound of clapping is not produce by two hands i guess, i don't know the praises actually but there is a lot of theory to it. You should see the weight of both sides then came to a final conclusion, i salute you to fully protect the page. but you should had remove her DOB, and add a hidden template not to add her DOB, until we came to a finally conclusion.

I guess, you still can do it. Rather than fully protect the page and let her DOB with a Dubious Information. That is quite reasonable don't think so. Because, there is still disputing of DOB, of Shraddha Kapoor. Being a fellow Wikipedian you should always maintain the dignity and integrity of Wikipedia. No, finally consensus is taken, it is more logical to leave her DOB, blank... THINK ABOUT IT TWICE OR EVEN THRICE Smauritius 06:28, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

You had protected the wrong version of Shraddha Kapoor, I kept on informing you but you kept on constantly ignored me. Shraddha Kapoor age conflicts is still on disputing, i think it is fair enough to protect the page with a dubious information. At least, take this request into consideration, leave her DOB, blank until we came to a final conclusion. The page is being protected with a dubious DOB, it reacts as the her DOB is resolve. I am not doing anything wrong. Take a dip into the matter. Archana Ramdonee, Palabeuse Fer palab unpeu 13:20, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

No, I will not unprotect the article or change her date of birth or remove her date of birth or add or remove any sources for her date of birth. You need to discuss the disputed source on the article talk page. --Geniac (talk) 14:19, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Justify your answer why??, because a non-active user came, claimed and reported i am performing Vandal attacks, just because, you had judge the only one-side of the situation. Also, provide, the policies and guidelines, if ought to do an act like this. If edit war are being perform to a living person biography age conflicts, it is not knowledgeable to add her dubious DOB with a inaccurate source. Provide the policies and guidelines for your actions. Your act seems as illogical; I can report you for that.
I repeat Wikipedia Foundation is known for specified good information, it is dubious to provide public figure unknown DOB.
I know what i have to do next on my phases.
If her age is proven wrong, then this issue might be a legal one tending to defame a public figure identity. You’re coordinately responsible for that.
Smauritius (' . ') 17:16, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
I have not judged any side of the situation. My action was to protect the article to prevent the edit warring from continuing. The policy for this action is described at Wikipedia:Protection policy#Content disputes. If you feel I have misused my administrative tools, you are welcome to report me to whomever you wish. When you do, just let me know where you have done so, so I have a chance to respond. Thanks. --Geniac (talk) 17:56, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
I had not got my answer yet. Provide me the policies and guidelines, notifying that an edit war is being occurred due to age conflicts not yet reached to a final consensus, but we still can add the DOB of a living person biography. Click on your link you provided to me Wikipedia:Protection policy#Content disputes figure out this point version sometimes rewards edit warring by establishing a contentious revision, administrators may also revert to an old version of the page predating the edit war if such a clear point exists. You seem quite proud of your acts.
Smauritius (' . ') 18:53, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
You can find a definition of edit warring at Wikipedia:Edit warring. You were repeatedly overriding each other's contributions, rather than trying to resolve the disagreement by discussion. I will not be reverting to an old version of the page predating the edit war. I see that TheRedPenOfDoom has formed an edit request at Talk:Shraddha Kapoor#Edit request, which is the appropriate way of requesting an edit to a protected page. I am neither proud nor ashamed of my act of protecting the article. --Geniac (talk) 00:48, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Did you say I had not tried to resolve the disagreement, between Rose$keel and me, I kept on overriding other user contributions. You have to do your homework well before alleging. The page was in edit warring when, Rose$kel came and add the DOB, I revert it, and leave a message to inform him/she to join the disputing conversion. For that you should view the history. Ought not to tell me that you have not made any personal affliction here,
Rose$keel, accused me, you believe it.
You are not a person of your words. You protected the page after provide her DOB, 26 years old, if i am not wrong this was suggested by Rose$keel.
Don't try to compare me with other users working stability, I fully aware about my actions.
Smauritius (' . ') 05:16, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
If you have nothing new to add, I will not be discussing this with you further. If you feel I have abused my administrative tools, you are welcome to start a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents or report me to whomever you wish. --Geniac (talk) 14:32, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:25, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

Hai friend. Recently I have added a profile photo for this show. But wikipedia says there is a file permission problem. I don't know what to do here. It is very complicated to upload a photo here. @Ragavendaragul: When you uploaded File:Yrkkh full.jpg, you claimed that the image is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0 License, and as proof, supplied www.bolegaindia.com/index.php?action=company&page_id=6 as a page where proof of this copyright permission could be found. I did not find any such copyright license on that page, so I tagged the image with {{di-no permission}}, a deletion tag which explains that unless you provide proof that the image has been released under that license, it will be deleted after Thursday, 12 December 2013. --Geniac (talk) 00:05, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

What-else can I do? Where can I find those in a page? All my photos which I have uploaded were removed because of this issue. Please guide me friend. Where can I find the copyright license in that page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ragavendaragul (talkcontribs) 01:27, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

@Ragavendaragul: I'm not quite understanding your questions. The problem is that you are uploading images with incorrect copyright license statements. Before you upload an image, you need to know what the copyright status of the image is. Here's an example of an image which has been uploaded with the correct license:
File:Around kyustendil galleryfull.jpg is a photo of a street in Kyustendil, a town in Bulgaria. The image was uploaded by TodorBozhinov in 2006. The copyright tag that TodorBozhinov used claims that the photo is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0 License. The image page says "Source: World 66". Clicking that link takes you to the source of the image where the uploader found it. At the bottom of that page is a little image that says "Some rights reserved. (CC) Creative Commons". Clicking on that image takes you to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/1.0/ , which is the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0 License. There is also text saying "This work is licensed under a Creative Commons License. For more information read our copyright policy, privacy policy, and terms of use." Clicking on the "copyright policy" link takes you to http://www.world66.com/about/copyright_policy which is a Copyright Policy statement by that website, World66, saying, "All the material (articles and images, otherwise specified) are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0 Licence." So that is an image plainly and clearly uploaded with the correct license.
If you upload something like a promotional image of a television show, you should use {{Non-free poster}}. If it's a screenshot from an episode, you should use {{Non-free television screenshot}}. For those types of copyrighted images, you'll also need to add a non-free use rationale. If you have any other questions about this, feel free to ask me or at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, which is a place for help with image copyrights, tagging, non-free content, and related questions. --Geniac (talk) 06:34, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Armaan Kohli

armaan kohli himself has admitted to salman khan on bigg boss 7 that he is 3 years younger than him. salman khan is 48 now. it means that armaan kohli is 45 nowKenu29 (talk) 10:17, 16 December 2013 (UTC)kenu29

When did he say that and what were the exact words? The current source for his date of birth is an article that says, "Salman Khan, 48, has stated on air that the ‘Jaani Dushman’ actor might be three or four years younger to him". That doesn't say that Armaan Kohli admitted to Salman Khan that is is 3 years younger than him. That says that Salman Khan stated that Armaan Kohli might be three or four years younger to him. Those are two very different things. --Geniac (talk) 00:29, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Bruna Abdullah may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Kalapani border dispute

Bladesmulti has deleted nearly all text about the Kalapani India/Nepal boundary dispute and renamed the article to Kalapani, territory. Bladesmulti is also proposing deletion of the article here: and he and I have also been discussing his changes here:.

Since you have contributed to this article in the past, I invite you to look at these links and then participate in the discussions. LADave (talk) 21:08, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice, but it doesn't matter either way to me. I'm just interested in what the article names are so the Kalapani disambiguation page is correct. --Geniac (talk) 04:55, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Help with request for course instructor rights

I see that you responded rapidly to a request for a course instructor rights. I have not had a response to my December 10 request. I have also sent a request for help to my region ambassador. New Mexico State University is not on the institutions list. Any suggestions for how I might move along? My request is at [[3]]--Joe (talk) 05:09, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Sure, no problem. Relisted at Wikipedia:Education noticeboard#Relisting: Request for course instructor right: Joe (talk) --Geniac (talk) 05:28, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! How could I have spotted that my request had been archived? Because of you, I find it now on page 7 of the archives but I missed the action on my watchlist. --Joe (talk) 13:54, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Odd. The archiving edit by ClueBot III on December 16 should have showed up on your watchlist. The only other way is to check the noticeboard every day and see if your post is still there, and if it isn't, check the most recent archive. --Geniac (talk) 15:14, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! I missed it.--Joe (talk) 20:23, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Reconsideration of course instructor

Geniac and Kevin,

I see that you two have opposing views about my request to receive course instructor rights. It's true, I haven't edited anything on Wikipedia, and I'm still negotiating the startup materials. To be honest, the process is more complicated than I thought. However, I do have significant editing experience. I'm the managing editor for Exemplar: The Journal of South Asian Studies, and regularly write and edit peer-reviewed academic articles (my publications are on my scholarship page). I'm not sure if this is the kind of writing or editing you're looking for in order to approve my request, so if I can demonstrate some chops in editing an article or two within the next couple of weeks, I'd like a chance to prove my mettle. 69.59.102.117 (talk) 02:59, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

@Ironmanprof:: No, I mean writing and editing Wikipedia articles. Since you have no article edits, it's impossible to gauge if you'd be able to teach the same to a class. --Geniac (talk) 04:22, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
