Personal Attacks

I understand you were offended by my words which I have apologised for, but for you to do the same to me claiming I am “challenging” when everything was over in our discussion is very contradicting to your interpretation of Wiki Rules. I have apologised and you go on to do everything to humiliate me just because of your high status. I do not need a reply I would just like you to rethink your morals. Have a good day. Szczeszek2035 (talk) 16:54, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

I am not seeing any apology from your end, and your comment above continues in the same passive-aggressive tone. — kashmīrī TALK 16:56, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
@Kashmiri: As you can't find my apology from earlier, I will do it again, I apologise for offending you, you have tried to humiliate me by your comment on others having to explain to me something I apologised for, I am not going to be happy about that. Although I am ending this argument as neither you are I were able to be the bigger person, and even with all the offensive things you have said about such as "Drama Queen" I forgive you, with or without an apology. I did not blank the page contents, I removed incorrect information, in particular the erroneous statement that Sufism is separate from Islam and that heretics can also be Sufis. If the whole page was somehow blanked, then that happened accidentally. --Qwerty12345uiopa67890 (talk) 18:11, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

This was a generic template used for editors who remove well-sourced information from articles. Please note that Wikipedia is a global encyclopaedia that aims to present a variety of points of view in accordance with Wikipedia policies. Your personal beliefs about Islam, Sufism, etc., are utterly irrelevant, and if you feel offended by an article on Wikipedia, just don't read it. — kashmīrī TALK 18:25, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Sufis, Sufism, and Conversion Narratives

   Khairudin Aljunied

DOI:10.1093/oso/9780190925192.003.0003

Chapter 2 bridges the gradualist with the populist phase of Islamization later in this book. It considers the emotive and mystical dimensions of the infusion and reception of Islam among the Malays. It explains how the Sufis gained Muslim converts through spiritual and cultural means. The Sufis employed wayang kulit (shadow puppet plays), dikir barat (lyrical verse debate), folk tales, religious stories, magic, and other forms of mystical arts as Islamizing tools.

@Jaggajat: The publisher's summary doesn't support your claim – it discusses the historical process of Islamisation of Malaysia; however, you posted a statement about the rules of the Sufis. Sure, but this is an article about a class (group) of different disorders called muscular dystrophies, whereas the research you're trying to link was done not on the disease group but specifically on Duchenne muscular dystrophy and belongs to that specific article. Category query

Hello, Kashmiri,

I had a question about Indian television and went to the Indian noticeboard but didn't notice any recent activity. Then I saw you responding to a message and thought I'd just come directly to you. As you can see by by the second page of the Empty Categories category a pretty new editor has been emptying categories of some Indian language television series & films. I know nothing about either Indian languages or Indian television series & films so I was hoping you could give User:Mhatre Akash's contribution a look over and make sure everything done is an improvement. Thanks for any help you can provide. Liz Read! Talk! 01:23, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Liz: The user has focused on Bengali programming, but this is not my area of expertise I am afraid. Upon cursory look, I see no obvious red flags – removing "TV show" category from web series should be uncontroversial. Despite the account's young age, clearly the editor is not new here, but no blocked account comes to my mind. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Cheers, — kashmīrī TALK 05:08, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Learn about reliable sources.

So I really think you need to read up about reliable sources, because your recent comment shows a lack of familiarity with the topic. You state that sources need to pass a sort of personal test, when they don't. Sources considered reliable are mirrored, if there is controversy to the source, cite sources on that. Irregardless there is no original research unless you have citations to back up your claim on why a citation is unreliable, your position on the source and what you think passes the personal reliability test doesn't change that.

Sidenote, all sources mention rising statistics of political violence in Poland, government homophobia, rising sexism and harsher time for immigrants, and a sharp increase in Far-right activity, as well as an increase of paramilitary organizations after Law and Justice came into power. So therefore I am led to believe you didn't read the sources or didn't notice them, as your main argument was a lack of statistics. Des Vallee (talk) 19:51, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

IP sockpuppets

Hello, Kashmiri,

So, I work a lot with categories, especially empty categories, and I'm coming across some empty IP sockpuppet categories you've blanked and also an IP user page of a former sockpuppet you wanted deleted. Are you removing sockpuppet tags from these IP user pages? I'm curious about why you're spending your time on this. Do you have a particular aim in mind? Like I said, I'm just curious. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 01:25, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Liz, yes I wanted to get rid of all the stale pages where an IP editor is displayed as sockpuppeteer. To see such a warning on their IP page may be quite confusing or discouraging to an unregistered editor today. Curiously, this seems to have been a fairly common practice in 2007–2010 (see for example Category:Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_71.171.88.220). Today, we no longer seem to brand IP editors as sockmasters, esp. masters of registered accounts.
So, for IP pages, I hide the sock warnings; while for registered accounts, I determine the oldest one and replace them as sockmaster. Empty categories then need to be deleted.
Cheers, — kashmīrī TALK 01:36, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay, I appreciate the explanation. If it was me, I would have run it by checkusers at SPI first but then you've been on Wikipedia about twice as long as I have. As far as empty categories of sockpuppets, these are not uncommon because checkusers and SPI clerks often recategorize sockpuppets accounts around when a new sockpuppet master is identified. We, and by that I mean me and UnitedStatesian, just tag them as CSD G6, uncontroversial deletion. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 02:16, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Kashmiri, I appreciate the spirit behind this, but I would like to ask you to please discuss this at WT:SPI before you continue – things like case moves are usually explicitly reserved to clerks and checkusers, and socks should only be tagged by admins and clerks. I don't personally mind the case moves per se (though most of them are so old that it probably doesn't matter in the strict sense because the likelihood of new filings is close to 0), but I think it would be good to get consensus from the SPI team before you continue. Thanks and best, --Blablubbs|talk 07:09, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I did a single case move aiming to ensure consistency with master account name (master was shown as an IP earlier), and then concluded that it will be faster to simply point all the socks to the existing SPI cases when retagging (even though the master will be different than case name). So, no more case moves on my part – I intend to only hide the "You have been blocked indefinitely" (and similar) tags from old IP accounts (most from 2007–2010).
Simply, I'm trying to clean all the categories named "Wikipedia sockpuppet of (IP address)" [2]. Most were simply tagged based on behaviour and without filing an SPI case, so retagging should be uncontroversial.
Will post at SPI before continuing. Cheers, — kashmīrī TALK 09:53, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Tibet flag

The Tibet flag

What the Tibet flag is:

What the Tibet flag is NOT:

  • the official flag of Tibet in its current form as the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China (a province-level autonomous region of China, basically a province)
  • a flag used by any existing sovereign state, subnational division, or dependent territory in the world (a state that actually administrates a polity)

The Tibet flag is a historical flag of the disestablished polity of Tibet (1912-1951). It is not currently in use by any political state in any official form & is outlawed in China. The Government of Tibet Autonomous Region uses the China flag. We do not use historical flags in current gallery, that'd be like including the 13 Colonies flag or the Confederacy flag for the United States, or using the Soviet Union flag or the Qing Dynasty flags - they're flags of disestablished polities. This page is about gallery of flags of current dependent territories, not historically independent territories.

The Tibet flag belongs in Flags of active autonomist and secessionist movements and the historical section of Gallery of sovereign state flags.

The Tibet flag is the flag of the independent sovereign state of Tibet (1912–1951) and is in unofficial use by the Tibetan Government in Exile in India, which does not recognize Tibet as a dependent territory of China, but as a sovereign state as the polity of Tibet. Insisting that the Tibet flag be included in the dependent territories flag gallery argues that Tibet Tibetan Government in Exile sees itself as part of China (as a dependent territory of China), which it absolutely does not.

The flag of a historical sovereign state, now a dependent territory, is not be used as the flag of the dependent territory which is a completely different political entity. It would be like putting the New France flag for the flag of Quebec.

The Tibet flag is the flag of a free, sovereign Tibet, not of Tibet under the People's Republic of China administration (as a dependent territory).

If you insist that flags of former polities can be used in place of their current regimes in the gallery (such as the Tibet flag), then for consistency the flags of the former British Hong Kong flag and Portuguese Macau flag would also have to be displayed in place of the Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR flags of the People's Republic of China, and the pre-Communist Republic of China (1912-1949) flag must be used for China.

Hello, Kashmiri,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username TheWikiholic, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Asad Ullah Shah, for deletion, because it is a very short article that doesn't provide readers with enough context to determine who or what the subject is.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TheWikiholic}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

reason for removal of my edits

hi , you are you continuously removing my edits in the page Bhartendi HarishChandra ?? Have i not given references or again you are targeting me ?? Gaurav 3894 (talk) 03:50, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

@Gaurav 3894: Your edit was not helpful to the reader. "Durbar" is not a word of English, the }} markup was incorrect and unnecessary, but foremostly the information you added was meaningless without a context. Additionally, it was not just me but also other editors who disagreed with your edit, and yet you decided to ignore everyone and push with your edit.
By the way, it's not "Bhartendu HarishChandra" but Bharatendu Harishchandra, and once again I'm advising you to use correct English on Wikipedia – spelling, grammar and capitalisation – at least out of respect for other editors. Gibberish can be reverted at any time, including on Talk pages. — kashmīrī TALK 19:48, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

@Kashmiri: you are telling me to study English when you yourself don't know it . Durbar is a Indian English word [can be found on oxford] and if it is not then how come the page delhi durbar still exist. If context was the case then where it should be added or i should add remove the facts ?? and I am quite surprised that the user who himself doesn't read talk pages and replies says that others are POV pushing. The only things you can do is remove something . All the other editors and even the wiki understands the problem of typos that's why there is a template of copy editing but you certainly don't yet I am the only person who is POV pushing . anyways tell me where should i add that ? in Biography ?? Gaurav 3894 (talk) 03:09, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

@Gaurav 3894: Wikipedia is not there only for users of Indian English, and there is no page on "Benares Durbar" either. As the Durbar article goes, the term can mean anything from a purely ceremonial gathering to something resembling a state council. Attending a high-profile meeting can indeed be a bragging point for some but is hardly something we should push into a biography without good sources.
Additionally, it is also - and predominantly - about your attitude. Please acquaint yourself with the concept of bold–revert–discuss cycle. For now, with your stubborn pushing of your unsourced edits into the article, despite concerns from other editors, you are heading for sanctions. — kashmīrī TALK 10:16, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

@Kashmiri: kindly checkout the page Delhi Durbar . I gave you the source and i am giving again "The Nationalization of Hindu Traditions: Bharatendu Harishchandra and Nineteenth-century Banaras" by Vasudha Dalmia and i don't know how are you saying it as a bragging point because going to Delhi Durbar a meeting of rajas and maharajas . A man who was from no royal house went and when you search about it you will find that there are very few who also went. Gaurav 3894 (talk) 03:24, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

You must stop immediately with pushing you version to the article. It's been disruptive enough for an administrative action against your account. — kashmīrī TALK 07:56, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

APPU, I'm not sure. Commonly, the term cronyism is used for such phenomena. Also, I don't think the subject is specific to India – it's quite a widespread phenomenon and I'm not sure whether the Indian variant, so as to say, should be dealt with separately in an encyclopaedia.
Usually, the best idea in such situations is to create the article as a draft and then submit it for a review prior to its publication in mainspace. Detailed instructions are here: Wikipedia:Drafts.

You appear to be mass-tagging redirects under the R3 speedy deletion criterion. Please stop, as many of them do not fulfil that criterion. CF Andrews redirecting to C. F. Andrews, for example, is a more than reasonable redirect. Sdrqaz (talk) 03:05, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

Sdrqaz, I'm in the process of reviewing heaps of problematic edits by APPU, including these newly created redirects. As far as I know, we don't routinely create redirects from initialled names to full names, especially for lesser-known people (at least I see no M. Twain, E. Macron or A. Merkel). — kashmīrī TALK 03:16, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Redirects need to be "implausible typos or misnomers" to be eligible under R3. Examples I've tagged have been this and this. While the usefulness of the redirects you've tagged is debatable, R3 is not a substitute for RfD. Sdrqaz (talk) 03:31, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Kashmiri, except for Mrs. Gandhi, I didn't think any of the other redirects you tagged was what we consider "implausible". Frequently, different spellings of names are made into redirects. If you are skeptical about this judgment, you should nominate those you have issue with at WP:RFD and make your argument there. Liz Read! Talk! 06:51, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Hmmm, do you assume that a person searching for "Madame Prime Minister" will be searching specifically for Indira Gandhi, out of hundreds of female prime ministers on Earth?
To be honest, I'm not sure I fancy preparing an individual RfD submission for each and every redirect that User:APPU creates, after all the time I spent on undoing their edits. If there is a shorter way, please let me know. — kashmīrī TALK 10:08, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Which is why it's at RfD now. Many of these redirects are helpful so tagging them all for R3 (when none qualify) is ridiculous. J947messageedits 19:29, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Redirects like CF Andrews are perfectly fine and what redirects exist for. Regardless of whether these redirects are implausible or not, they definitely aren't misnomers and I declined the rest (before seeing this discussion). R3 is only for very specific cases (even the redirects pointed out by Sdrqaz probably fit under other speedy criteria better). J947messageedits 08:42, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
(And I don't think Mrs Gandhi is either a misnomer or implausible – I'd think it a common way of differentiating between the two Gandhis. J947messageedits 08:52, 22 November 2021 (UTC))
@J947 "The two Gandhis"? Last time I checked, there were many more Mrs Gandhis out there on Wikipedia. — kashmīrī TALK 00:23, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
Only two are known internationally and reasonably differentiated from each other by Mr and Mrs; a common form of differentiation between famous spouses is to do so. It's a form of disambiguation. Besides, ambiguity has never ever been a reason to rightfully speedy a redirect. J947messageedits 00:34, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
I'm sorry you've never heard about Sonia Gandhi or Kasturba Gandhi. However, I wish you could trust me when I say that people searching for "Mrs Gandhi" could well be searching for Mahatma Gandhi's wife. The younger readers, however, will likely want to know about the currently living most famous woman of the Gandhi clan – Sonia Gandhi. — kashmīrī TALK 00:46, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
[EDIT] Do I understand correctly that you believe that Indira Gandhi was Mahatma Gandhi's spouse? If so, then I beg you to read Indira Gandhi before commenting further on the redirect. — kashmīrī TALK 00:48, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
Sorry. Disregard me. That was a bad misconception to have. J947messageedits 01:41, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Intentional vandalise

This IP seems to be vandalising intentionally. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2003:CC:2F17:5300:1992:4A2F:BEFD:27EA . What is to be done? Appu (talk) 16:59, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

That was a week ago and no disruption since. If reoccurs, you can file a report at WP:AIV, then it usually gets resolved very quickly. But it must be ongoing vandalism, not something old. — kashmīrī TALK 19:48, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed that you removed my edit from the page mentioned in the title, and am aware that the issue was that the article that I linked was first-person. However, and this is important, I noticed that the user who made the section in question did copy and paste from said source. Just letting you know. Maccore Henni user talk 20:12, 26 November 2021 (UTC) PS: I could have explained that a bit better, sorry ahead of time Maccore Henni user talk 20:15, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

Khanzada

Hello. I see that you've retargeted Khanzada ‎to its dab and I've been preparing the resulting cleanup. Khanzada (disambiguation) is now a malplaced disambiguation page and needs to be moved. The 449 incoming links to Khanzada need disambiguation, and it's not obvious to a layman which target is best. Finally, if the dab itself is to stay at the base name then it will need changes to demote the former primary topic and add the standard introduction. Are you able to help with any of this? Certes (talk) 18:44, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi Certes, I apologise for hasty retargeting. I realised the situation is quite messy - Khanzada itself once was a long article.
I won't be able to touch Wikipedia for the next 3–4 days at least due to WP:REALLIFE, so I regret I can't help. But please feel free to go ahead boldly and revert my edits if needed. — kashmīrī TALK 18:51, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I've undone the change for now, but if there's no primary topic for the term then we should move the dab once we're able to do a complete job. I don't have the skills (or privileges) to do that alone. An RM on the dab might attract interested editors and suggest the best way forward. Certes (talk) 23:24, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Chromium TIFF support

Why do you reverted my change? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comparison_of_web_browsers&oldid=prev&diff=1056919786

How did you test the TIFF support in Chromium? I tested it and Chromium does not render TIFF images. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BuZZdEE.BuzZ (talkcontribs) 16:00, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

regarding my edits on wki pages

I got the message from Wikipedia. I am a beginner Wikipedia writer. In fact, I have no conflict of interest with the above-mentioned pages. I read all the conflicts of interest and I don't belong to any category. I am an English and Amharic reader and writer person of Kenya and working in Ethiopia. I started the first time editing the page a few years ago when I read a tutorial. I know about these two and many others who have supported mankind. I have a connection with them over social media selflesly. Their contributions to Africa, Asia, and Europe for Africans are big. When I get some information, I search on the internet if find a link in the network I post the information on Wikipedia. Only I know that dp Sharma is a godly helper for us. I never meet him but I know about him because he was the PhD adviser of my known person. I try to read some news about him in language Hind and use google translation to read. If you kindly help me, I can do more edits on different areas or close my account because I am a reader of druga prasad Sharma books and we thousands Ethiopian, Kenyan, and EuroAfricans love him. He is handicapped but he changed the lives of thousands. Sorry I did any wrong thing on your wikipedia. vijay samnotra was UN senior official in Kenya. He served for more than three decades as I read about him. He was very popular man for the environment in Kenya. His works are amazing for Africa. I am not an expert but included all information on the edited page from good sources, maybe your policy doesn't allow it. I simply take information, write and find sources then insert it. My conflict of interest is zero sir or madam. You can consider them and if find good, you can re-include them especially last two months' edits or if not your decision is ok. I don't know this message will reach you. How can I chat you more Thanks Kunny Kunniet (talk) 20:24, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Kashmiri language literature

Hi, you have show interested in Kashmiri language literature on Wikipedia. The table you had edited has been made by me. Please revert all the changes you made. The table has to be reverted back to its original state. Thank you. Musadiq Mushtaq (talk) 07:09, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

@Musadiq Mushtaq I'm sorry but I see no reason to revert. The fact that the table has been made by you is insufficient. I have described all my edits and I believe they are an improvement. Please explain on the article's Talk page why you believe your version is better. — kashmīrī TALK 14:19, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Your revert on the Meta Platforms page

Thanks for reviewing my edit to the Meta article. However, I find parts your explanation irrelevant and inaccurate. In detail:

- "these are all unimportant factoids" -> Unimportant is subjective. It's objectively, highly relevant to the Lobbying section of the article. I wouldn't delete everything from a Wikipedia article that's unimportant to me.

- "of the he-said-she-said type based on allegations" -> The edit fulfills Wikipedia's strict requirement about citing and reliable sources.

- "stereotypical leftwing-rightwing labels, etc" -> It's unclear what you refer to here. I don't see stereotypes applied in the edit. If there were stereotypes applied in the lobbying effort, that's beyond the control of the editor.

- "All of this petty party warring stuff should be left out of this article, which let's remember is about a global company." - Again, the article has a Lobbying section, and this edit is highly relevant to that, considering (1) it's about the lobbying effort following the biggest scandal in Facebook's history, and (2) closely related to the company's relationship to the government of the country it's headquartered in.

I'll undo your revert, and I respectfully invite you to either improve the article, or be more constructive in your criticism. A more professional tone would also help.

Thank you, --LifeDancePro (talk) 21:52, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

With due respect – a high-level summary would be, a newspaper accused a business of something that Facebook says is untrue (a "mischaracterisation") – "muddying the waters" when lobbying in the US Congress. Ok, I can imagine fairly well that lobbyists say different things to different interlocutors, that's their job. And now, do you really believe this entire WSJ thingie merits including in an ENCYCLOPAEDIA? And that it is "the biggest scandal in Facebook's history"? Because I can think of quite a few actual scandals with Facebook, starting from the Cambridge Analytica affair.
I strongly recommend you to read WP:RECENT. I have to revert for now, please seek consensus before reinserting. — kashmīrī TALK 00:13, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
WP:RECENT is indeed new to me, thanks for pointing it out. I'll read through it and follow it going forward. (Simply referencing it in your first revert would have saved some cycles, but hey, Happy Holidays!) LifeDancePro (talk) 01:24, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
