KLF Image
Hi,
The image for the KLF page came from http://www.ultra-pop.org/galleri_k.htm and the photo was originally taken by someome called Ronnie Randall. The image and the page it is listed on bear no copyright notices. The image is also to be found at http://www.kompaktkiste.de/cd/_123/_9/9031728972.jpg as the cover of the What Time is Love CD single. If this is the case then the photo was endorsed by the band themselves, who are not noted for being the world's biggest supporters of copyright. Furthermore, as this article is of an educational nature and I believe that there are insufficient alternatives that give a clear shot of both of the band members, this image can qualify as fair use. I don't think it's on, because it's not a scan of the CD cover, it's the actual photo that was used to make the sleeve. It was written six years ago by Keith Bradman and has been described by The Beatles official biographer Hunter Davies as "A revealing portrait of The Beatles - much nearer the truth". As I said in the edit summary, there may be some redundancy there but that's the way it is - a FA should be tagged with {{FA}}. Take it up with the FA people if you think the templates should be combined. Also, if you look closely you'll see that the FA template contains extra information not in the "on this date" template, such as a link to the actual FA debate for that article (Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/The Beatles). --kingboyk 13:41, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

My User Page
I noticed that you commented on my user page, citing "religious essays" and the use of Islam next to Identity. About the latter, would you prefer that I replaced the Islamic symbol at the top with another symbol? About the former, what do you believe falls under religious essay? It's not that you're Islamic I have a problem with, and tbh your "religious essay" (which was fascinating by the way) was really the section you have deleted. However, I still believe you're coming on a bit strong on your user page. If I was you I'd remove "Islam" from the header of your "Identity" section. I imagine there's more to you than your religion - however important it is in your life - and you're running the risk of intolerant editors judging you by this before they'd read anything else. Perhaps you should change the focus of your user page to what you have achieved and want to achieve on Wikipedia, and publish your bio elsewhere? Regardless of all this, I think you will be promoted this time and if it's looking close I'll probably change to support. Your first point about removing Islam from the header was exactly what I was talking about in my first comment. I complied, replacing it with another image. To some extent, I am okay with intolerant editors judging me by just a few statements on my page (they are intolerant after all and so I should be willing to ignore some negativity from them). On the other hand, it's decent constructive criticism and feedback, like the kind made by you and several other oppose voters, that will always be met with open arms. I was trying to use the religious symbols from various religions as a method of promoting unification among religions, which are often seen as dividing forces. Hello,
Where in the world is Stoke Orchard exactly? The article makes reference to other regions, which seem to suggest it is England (i.e. use of the -shire suffix; however, it is hard to determine where it is located.
Could you please provide additional information about this location? Perhaps you could even move the page to [[Stake Orchard, Superior location]], where "Superior location" indicates the country it is located in?
Additionally, geographical coordinates for the location would be great; links to sites that provide information on tourist, Government, or administrative services for the community would be splendid.

I just noticed that the history tool fails if the date format is not like "T:M, MONTH DATE, YEAR", it will fail. Selecting anything other than the "16:12, January 15, 2001" option caused the stats to not show up.Voice-of-AllTalk 02:46, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available
After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. With regards to your inquiry on the Norwegian KLF article Talk page abour a Norwegian radio show purportedly bearing the above name I doubt it could have a genuine origin. The word amounts to gobbledygook, even in Norwegian, and although it is conceivable that some humorist radio show might use such a name (and that would of course be a format in which The KLF would feel at home), I am unaware of it. Hi Steve - it's OK, we know about that one :) It was proposed (I even made the icon for it). The category is still a bit small but it's a new one so hopefully it'll be up to speed fairly soon. As for linking to a WikiProject in the template, several of them do - it's not generally approved of, but it's not a big thing and too much of a hassle to be chased up a lot of the time (WP:WSS has enough to do and gets into enough conflict with other WikiProjects without pissing them off even more!). This is not a matter of taking sides but for the good of the WP community. The following comment gives you the flavor of what is going on in a nutshell.

The problem is the article is locked in a prejudical mode, no consensus can be achieved, yet the administrator in charge, who won't identify himself, won't STUB a protected article but leaves the offending article up. Take Care!
Hi Will. I'm just a regular admin, no special powers, certainly no special ability! The page was protected by User:Mysekurity, so they should be your first port of call. I see you've also interracted with User:SlimVirgin, who is a very experienced admin. In general, incidents get reported to WP:ANI but I suggest you try and work this one out on Talk:Juan Cole. Impersonaters of me in Bucks
I have incurred the wrath of more than just Darren Hayday in my time here at Wikipedia: I created most of the Buckinghamshire place articles and continue to watch them, and to revert vandalism applied to them. Of all the vandalism to my userspace over the years I would not be surprised if most of it originated in Bucks because of this. Because Buckinghamshire County Council is the biggest institution in Bucks with several public portals a checkuser on an IP registered to them is likely to prove very little. -- Francs2000 11:11, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

I did! I've added the extra params as you requested, and I'm in the process of tagging the articles we've already rated as part of my AWB run. New ratings will have to wait, I'm not Superman you know! :P
I was thinkin'... if Oleg agrees to implement some sort of template or meta-text functionality for grabbing assessment comments from talk pages, one of us can do an AWB run on all articles in Category:The Beatles song stubs, with a comment along the lines of "DEFAULT ASSESSMENT OF STUB. While i agree that she is undisputably welsh there is something of a constant edit war between those who feel it is more appropriate to describe her as "British" and those who prefer "welsh". i added the source, to show her descirbing herself as Welsh. Dear Stevie, I'm pleased that you found the new section on my user page interesting. I wish it wasn't true... but it is (although highly ironic in certain cases as well). The phrase that caught your attention isn't statistically accurate (I can't say for sure the life expectancy in Native American Reservations, it's maybe higher than 44, but I assure you, much lower than the average in the US).

Disambiguating using popups
I saw a question you left on another user's talk page about how to use Lupin's popups to do one-click disambiguation, and I didn't see whether you ever got an answer. It's one of my favorite tools, so I thought I'd poke my nose in: it's just an option you can enable by adding the text

Sure -- any time you hover over a link that goes to a disambiguation page (one tagged with a {{disambig}} template), you will see a list of potential disambiguation targets at the bottom of the preview box, in green. Click on one of those green links, and the tool will automatically edit the link to point at the correct target, rather than the disambiguation page. Sorry, I didn't mean the "preview" page, I meant the bottom of the popup. On any page, in regular viewing mode or in preview mode, when you hover over any link that goes to a dab page will have an extra section at the bottom of the popup box, full of green article titles, which says "Click to disambiguate this link to: A.J.P. Taylor, Jack Taylor (baseball player), Jock Taylor, John Albert Taylor, John B. Taylor, John Budd Taylor, John Edward Taylor, John G. Taylor, John Henry Taylor, John I. Hi. Please see my request on Deletion Review to see the contents of Disenfranchised Grief moved to my User or Talk page (whichever is appropriate). It goes to DRV if you want to challenge the decision. You're allowed to start a new article but if it's a straightforward recreation, it'll probably be speedy deleted. If it's just similar, expect to have problems too. The Beatles project newsletter, Issue 002, June 2006
Apple Corps v. Apple Computer. A case brought by Apple Corps against Apple Computer, regarding possible infringement of a previous agreement between the two parties in respect of distribution of music, was heard in a London High Court. The story made Wikipedia's front page due to a nomination by our own Kingboyk. The story had an amusing second wave in the news and on Wikipedia; be sure to read the article on Guy Goma if you missed it!
Project News
The Beatles article has been approved for inclusion in Wikipedia Version 0.5, making it one of the first 20 articles to be selected and the first in the Music category.
Eleven new articles have been listed in the Project Log since 1 May.
The hottest Project page this month has been Policy Talk, where some lively discussion has taken place regarding the (perennial) question of the capitalisation of the letter T in "The Beatles". After seeking the comments of Wikipedian third parties unrelated to the project, the proponents and opponents concluded that the current naming policy was correct. The discussion had the added bonus of bringing in some new members.
Project member (and "co-instigator" of The Beatles Project) Lar was made an Administrator. Project member Kingboyk (the other guilty party) has been awarded a Music Barnstar for his contributions, including his work within The Beatles Project, and has also stewarded the KLF article to Featured Article status this month. Sometimes-contributor ZincOrbie has also been awarded a Barnstar for his work on the Badfinger article. Congratulations to all!
The Beatles have been in the real world news recently, but work on The Beatles Project continues as before. This newsletter keeps you up-to-date with what has been happening with the project and, perhaps more importantly, what needs to be done (see the "Issue of the Month" above and the "To Do List" below-left).
If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!

Beatles Discography | US Singles
Hiya... I'm working on correcting/improving the Discography bit by bit, starting first with the US Singles. I have a mockup in my sandbox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Brian.D/Sandbox). Also, I note that the page for the flip-side of Let It Be, You Know My Name (Look Up My Number), has it as "Up The Number" throughout. I know how to correct the page(s), but not how to rename the incorrect page to the proper title (and, I should imagine I am not permitted to do so!). I've given them a "blatant vandal" warning. We block to prevent damage rather than punish, in particular where an IP address is concerned. Alright mate? Sorry to keep coming to you with these things, but you're the only admin I know who's never tried to block me. I was hoping you could have a looks at this user - User:Feline1. He really is a nasty peice of work (look at some of the stuff on the Revolver (album) talk page and directed at User:Brian G. Wilson. I realise some of my comments towards him could be construed as personal attacks, and while I was antagonised, I understand if I get blocked or whatever, but he needs something doing about his general bad attitude. In fact, it's not even his personal attacks which I find most distasteful. It's his sumgness, the way he reacts to well-intentioned users by insulting them, branding them "morons" for simple mistakes. There is a line common to this in failed musicians. No, it's happened on one or two pages and I can only assume it's a Mediawiki problem. Evidently the edit box wasn't getting filled with the entire contents of the article, but nonetheless the save button was appearing. I would have thought that if it were a connection issue I wouldn't get the save button as that appears in the HTML after the edit box!
