Help with reverting problem...

Could you help me with a small problem I'm having pertaining to malicious reversions? User:Leuko has started a revert war with me on the Shenendehowa_High_School page. This user continually removes information I add to the page claiming that it is personal opinion. I admit, I may have gone over the top on my first revision of the page, but my latest edit was definitely not opinion. I feel User:Leuko has gotten to the point where he no longer cares whether the things I add to the page are fact, but rather just doesn't like me in general. A comparison of my latest edit and User:Leukos revision can be found here[1]. Thanks for the help! Steinize that! Talk Contribs 15:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Your monobook.js

Pyrospirit, since this edit your monobook.js is showing up in CAT:CSD, you may want to check it out. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 02:06, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

It's still showing. Please fix it or it might have to be blanked as it's evidently wasting folks' time :) --kingboyk 21:57, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure why this is happening. I'll attempt to fix it now, but if I can't fix it, I'll remove the script that I think is causing the problem. Please don't blank the page though, because I know which script is causing it and I don't want to have to reinstall all my other scripts. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 22:29, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
I've fixed the problem and the page is no longer listed on CAT:CSD. It was a result of my fast speedy deletion script having a db template somewhere in the code. Apparantly, it was being read as an actual speedy deletion tag. I fixed it by placing <pre> tags around the entire db script. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for the warning

Thanks for the warning. However I would like to say that with Corticopia there's no chance to reach consensus. I want to ask for your help. I really really really hope you read this carefully. I am an honest person and I wouldn't lie. Corticopia is a person that has used several accounts in the past (even commiting sockpuppetry) and his behavoir is very destructive, he personally attack editors and uses profanity both in discussion and edit summaries. Some of his accounts were blocked.

Please check this evidence, I am really desperate. Read carefully this [2] and check every evidence I presented.

I don't know what to do, because I know Wikipedia says we should assume good faith, but if you really read all this carefully, you will see that he's not editing for the sake of Wikipedia. The main evidence is to check Corticopia's first edited page and the comment he used in the edit summary and compare it with the other accounts he used to use. Also, Corticopia was a new account, and however he knows a lot about Wikipedia and rules and usage. So... he's not a new user at all.

I know you probably don't have the time for this, but I beg you to check this or to ask another administrator to do something about this. His behavior is not good for Wikipedia because he seems to be only spreading his bias with every single article he edits. Just check the history of the articles he's editing. He was already reported for using personal attacks and profanity. Desperately, AlexCovarrubias ( Let's talk! ) 00:56, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your warning, P. Unfortunately, though, AC's comments appear to be a desperate appeal to authority. Ah well. Corticopia 00:59, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
I strongly advise reading Wikipedia:Resolving disputes. Also, if you wish to officially check to see if Corticopia is violating Wikipedia policies with sockpuppets, you can file a case to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser, which will determine this for sure. Don't forget to be civil and make no personal attacks throughout this dispute. I'll try to help if I can, though. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 01:12, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I want to say that I have never made personal attacks on Corticopia nor used profanity. I don't think we have a case of sockpuppetry since this means that two accounts of the same person are used at the same time. To this date, I don't know if Corticopia is using another account as he did before with E Plurius Anthony and Lucky Mustard, or with Cogito Ergo Sumo and Ex Post Factoid. I don't think he will make the same mistake when I discovered and filed a case against Cogito. AlexCovarrubias ( Let's talk! ) 01:43, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Actually, Alex, you arguably have engaged in personal attacks, since you have accused me of wanting to segregate Mexico on many occasions for various reasons, etc. for what I can only assume to be due to stereotypes etc. I am merely trying to organise information efficiently; of course, that doesn't always work. :) I do apologise if discussions have become heated, but not for the crux of the topics under debate. I also apologise, P., for using your talk page as a sound board. I can't comment on the other notions above. Corticopia 23:36, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Excuse me, but since I'm no longer involved in this issue, could you please continue this conversation on your own talk pages? Thanks, Pyrospirit Flames Fire 23:40, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: My user watchlist

It could be because that particular IP address has not made any edits within the last day. Try looking through their contributions page manually to see when their last edit was. Also, if you are to the east of the Greenwich Meridian, you will probably find that you see less contributions than if you live to the west, and also, around midnight, you may find that all of the contributions disappear, due to some bugs in the way dates are calculated. Tra (Talk) 00:24, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I see. Thanks, and I think that explains it. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 00:31, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing that to my notice. I appreciate the {{fact}} tag very much. Whenever I see someone use it on a page on my watchlist, I'm even a little excited to go and try to cite something. Hopefully the citation I added is satisfying, were you asking for a citation on the UN figures or that the poverty was due to mismanagement? I suppose I could add a link to UN figures of SL poverty, too. Keep it up. Smmurphy(Talk) 03:02, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. Actually, I was talking about both, as it seemed like there should be a citation somewhere in there. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 03:05, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Rereading it, I see what you mean. I've certainly fixed it now. Things are happily getting better in SL, they aren't last any more (which sounds like an odd thing to be happy about, but...). Thanks. Smmurphy(Talk) 04:00, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Gifted education

Having discovered that this section of WIkipedia needs work, I'm requesting your aid in improving the information available and getting the pernicious myths about G/T from contaminating Wikipedia too greatly.

I created the page A Nation Deceived and would appreciate help here. Also, see Gifted Education, specifically the section on acceleration. You have plenty of personal experience here, yes? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kalai Eljahn (talkcontribs) 15:23, 8 March 2007 (UTC).

Summer of My German Soldier (Television film)

just a couple of questions...what was wrong with 'tv film', and since when is it required to cite sources for a movie synopsis? --emerson7 | Talk 23:38, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

i really think you are reading both a bit too strictly. 'TV' is a word just like NATO as offered in the MOS example. further, nearly all of the 'tv movie' movies don't use the word 'television'. with regard to the refs, the imbd and amg links are plenty. --emerson7 | Talk 00:14, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

War Article

I'm confused-- I got a message from you stating that you had reverted a change in the War article-- I posted on the Discussion page why I made the change. I thought I explained my reasons for doing so and that I followed the "be bold" policy. I'm of the opinion that the edit is for the better-- but please let me know if your change was implemented as a guard against vandalism or if you disagree with my edit. Thanks. -DWRZ 02:29, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok. Thanks. I'll make sure to make future edits clearer. Thanks for your effort with the article! -DWRZ 02:31, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, you should definitely be bold, and looking back at it, I definitely agree with your change. From the VandalProof interface, though, I couldn't see the message you left on the talk page, and since there was no summary, I reverted it. I didn't notice the message until I checked your recent contributions, which is why I then self-reverted and removed my warning. I also remembered to record it as a mistake on the VP program, as well. Sorry for the inconvenience. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 02:39, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

ARTICLES IN OTHER LANGUAGES

Hi again, i created a few articles in japanese by the way you told me to. But, the articles are not linked to the English versiion. For example, i created an article on Runescape in Japanese, but when i went back to the english version of Runescape under the "In other languages" section, Nihongo (Japanese), did not appear? What is the reason for this? Tennisdude92 07:13, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for putting the article on runescape listed in Japanese :-) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tennisdude92 (talkcontribs) 23:23, 18 March 2007.

Can't substitute pagenames??

Your edit on {{Welcome5}} said we couldn't substitute pagenames. Hmmmm.

  • {{BASEPAGENAME}} → Pyrospirit
  • {{subst:BASEPAGENAME}} → Pyrospirit

If that works okay, I'd like to put <includeonly>subst:</includeonly> back before the {{BASEPAGENAME}}. Is that all right with you? -- BenTALK/HIST 23:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

My mistake, I thought it didn't work for some reason. You can go ahead and put it back. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 14:40, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

GA template

Apparently, your new GA template was speedily deleted because it was a recreation of deleted material. I've posted a request for more info on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Good_articles#GA_template, and I'm going to ask Raul654 (the speedy deleting admin) if we can reconsider the existence of such a template. In fact, I plan on opening up a DRV if necessary.--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 15:24, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't think to check the deletion log to see if it had been deleted, but I still think something like that would be nice. By the way, I have the code for it backed up in the history of User:Pyrospirit/Sandbox. I'll make sure to join the discussion. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 16:56, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for welcoming me to Wikipedia, Pyrospirit! Your response to my 'hello' post was unbelievably quick. I've had the account for a while, but didn't actually want to start editing yet. Your recent edit to Carly Patterson (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. Oops. I made that edit using Lupin's anti-vandal tool. I was reverting vandalism, but apparently, I reverted to a version that had been vandalized by another user. WikiProject MMO Quarterly
April 2007 Issue I
About Us
WikiProject MMO Quarterly is a quarterly newsletter posted on the first of January, April, July, and October. The newsletter is written by any and all interested members of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games for members of the project and interested Wikipedians outside of the project.
Questions, comments, and concerns
For general questions, comments, and concerns, leave a message on our talk page here. For questions, comments, and concerns about our newsletter, leave a message on the talk page for the newsletter section of our Outreach Department here.
New good articles and featured articles
Good articles and featured articles are a great way to see what major acomplishments we have made over the last quarter.

Good articles

Featured articles
None this quarter!

Role call
We ask that within a month, all members sign our role call to show that they are still active participants in the project. More information is available on the role call page.
Major news
WikiProject RuneScape, our former child project, was moved to become a task force of this project in January as it had a small scope but the task force is still going strong to this very day.

This past quarter marks the beginning of our new collaboration system MMOGCM. Past collaborations thus far have been World of Warcraft and MMORPG, both of which made it to GA status while it was the MMOGCM.

As well, we now have an Outreach Department which works on this newsletter as well as spreads the word of our project.

WikiProject MMO is also now a participant in the Work via WikiProjects division of Wikipedia 1.0 and as such, we will be helping decide which are the best (based on quality and importance) articles within our scope. Project members can discuss which articles are to be included here.

News from the RuneScape Task Force
We are currently trying to improve this task force so that we can edit all RuneScape-related articles in an organized manner. To do that we started a massive overhaul which we invite all task force members to participate in.

We have also gotten our main article, RuneScape to good article status this quarter. All this, and the task force was only created in January.

Signed...
Greeves, Ed

On behalf of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games.

ALGOL redirect form Algorithm design article

You were very quick to "redirect" my one line statement of "See ALGOL ALGOrithmic Lanaguage". I, at first, agreed with your actions, but I sit here an thought some more and added my thoughts to the "Talk", see Talk:Algorithm design. Please undo your "redirect", read my initial thoughts, and lets discuss. In reading the Talk:ALGOL page, I see there is a number of us old timers that programmed ALGOL back in 60's. I think we call could enjoy a (can't think of the correct term) "AAAA" discussion on "algorithm design". Thank you. I have removed the speedy deletion tag from this article- official releases from notable artists are usually automatically considered notable. If you believe that the artist is not notable, then please take the article to AfD, and group this article with it. J Milburn 18:16, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Isobar Communications

Hi, you put a note on a page I just added about Isobar to say it was advertising. I added the page because it seemed really odd that Isobar wasn't included in Wikipedia when loads of other advertising agencies are, and because my boss yelled at me about it.  :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Advertising_agencies

I have some historical stuff that I could add but I didn't put it in as I couldn't find newspaper articles to back it up. Can you let me know what I would need to do to make it OK for Wikipedia? I've only put in things that are factual and I used the Saatchi & Saatchi page as the model for the kind of things it was OK to say. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lynetter (talkcontribs) 15:44, 12 April 2007.

Hi, (apologies if you get this twice, had a little computer hiccup)... thanks a lot for helping me work out what was/is wrong with the wikipedia entry on isobar.

I've tried to change it... have taken out the details about the services provided and just left in the basic facts about size. The reason for leaving in mention of the size/scale is because that is usually the most common question people want to know about an agency. The second question is who they work for, details of services and examples of their work, but I've now left any reference to that out because feared it might be seen as promotion (even though other agencies have it in their wikipedia entries).

As per someone else's suggestion on the article discussion page, I've also added in more external links from freely accessible online sources to attempt to show notability. It's very frustrating the Financial Times doesn't publish the entirety of their articles online for free because they're like the European equivalent of the Wall Street Journal (few companies get an indepth profile written about them in it, so that alone goes a long way to demonstrating 'notability'). Anyway, I've left the direct link to FT in for now, but if I can find someone online who's copied the full text out on their blog, I'll add a link to that as well.

Some of the new links I put in the external links section, but in an attempt to make it more encylopaedic I've also added in a history of growth section with links to articles about individual acquisitions. (there are more acquisitions than this but tracking free articles in English down is hard as a lot of them were in France, Asia, Eastern Europe and so reported in the local press there rather than in the US).

Can you let me know if this is on the right track? Is there anything else you would want to see in the article for it to count as an encyclopedia entry?

By the way, I never intended to be anything other than objective when I posted the original entry... you should have seen all the hyperbole I left out.  :-) It's just that given so many other agencies have entries on Wikipedia, it seemed an odd omission for Isobar to not have an entry given we're actually bigger. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Advertising_agencies lists all the agencies.

By the way, I am sorry if me posting the entry is wrong because I work there. I didn't realise that working at a company de-facto meant that anything I wrote would be subjective. I've now included lots of external links to articles written by others not associated with the company... hopefully this is enough to show objectivity? If my association with the article is alone the problem I'll delete it and encourage a friend to research and write an entry instead. I'm sure that many other companies have their entries written by people associated with the company, just perhaps they are just not so upfront about it as I've been.

I am not sure what more I should do to the article, so please let me know if there's anything specific I should delete/change that would make it more suitable.

Thanks again.  :-) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lynetter (talkcontribs) 19:06, 12 April 2007.

I'm a user

Actually, I'm a real user who just forgot to log in. But thanks anyway. 75.185.35.202 22:18, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I'm going to remove the speedy deletion tag you added to Isobar Communications as the original contributor has gone a long way to making it far more factually based and providing independent references - it no longer reads like corporate marketing literature and the company is clearly notable. I hope this is OK with you. I will edit the article myself to clean it up a bit. --CIreland 23:03, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Fine with me. Actually, I'm glad it got cleaned up and can now be a useful article. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 15:00, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
