Valued picture candidates/Sandi Jackson[edit]

With the extensive discussion at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Sandi Jackson, I think it would only be fair to make sure this got adequate consideration at Wikipedia:Valued picture candidates/Sandi Jackson.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 12:33, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming[edit]

Hiya. You're doing a great job with editing, and also with welcoming new users.

Just one thing, though, wouldn't it be better if your signature on WP:en were in English? That way, any user - but especially new ones - can more easily see how to talk to you, or see your contributions? Best, Trafford09 (talk) 09:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recat[edit]

Heloo. A small AWB job. List of reservoirs and dams in Andalusia. Recat contents as Category:Reservoirs in Andalusia and alert the creator of the new cat? Actually you could recat by province, up to you. Dr. Blofeld 17:17, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That would be great. I was also wondering if you could create plain categories for each of the Slovenian municpalities like Category:Brežice and add the new populated places categories feeding out of them. Eventually thre will be landmarks to fill these categories and the sub populated places and people from cats. Dr. Blofeld 20:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah there's no rush, makes sense to do so though... Dr. Blofeld 20:47, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:CorruptingPower.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CorruptingPower.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:50, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Project on 20th century French drama[edit]

Hi Ser Amantio di Nicolao, I noticed that you had made edits to several plays by Giraudoux. I am looking for people who are interested in creating quality articles on the plays of Jean Giraudoux and related subjects. Giraudoux is not a big enough subject to be a WikiProject; but all of 20th century French drama certainly would be. For a complete outline of my ideas on the subject, see my personal page at the link below. If you are interested, drop me a note on that same personal page.

Category query[edit]

Hi, and thanks for adding some categories to the new article E. G. Swain. I just wanted to query his inclusion in Category:Fellows of King's College, Cambridge. He was certainly a chaplain there, but I can't find a citation to confirm that he was a Fellow (unless perhaps chaplains automatically get Fellowships?). I didn't want to remove him from the category without checking, just in case you'd found information on the subject that I've missed. Cheers, Karenjc 12:22, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just to let you know I reverted the article to a previous version since the creator removed the G12 speedy template, which included reverting your edit adding a a7 criterion. Your addition was a minor one and the G12 template is important so I felt it best to revert to this version anyway. I'm not questioning the validity of your edit though; feel free to reinstate it. A brief look at the article suggests that A7 doesn't actually apply though; the article appears to be about a news event. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 15:34, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reference translation[edit]

Hi, Ser Amantio di Nicolao, if I've deduced/remembered correctly and you understand Italian, do you think you could possibly translate the title and author ("Ministero della Salute") in this reference for me?

I also spotted a link about Lithuanian bios on your talk page, so on the off chance you understand Lithuanian too, could you do this one as well?

Happy holidays![edit]

Have a nice break! Well deserved! Dr. Blofeld 22:00, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back Mr. Amantio! You know you could have left a message...♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:36, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good to have you back, although I'd imagine it won't be until tomorrow you return "fully". I've done a fair bit in your absence, mainly Burmese villages but it gets a little boring. i think the best thing would be to do the google map/geonames thing for a range of countries and mix it in to keep it interesting. It takes away the fun doing nothing but the same area of each township of Burma. I'll get through them eventually but I like to keep things interesting. At the moment I have some Surinam settlements/rivers to add. I expanded a few of your Peruvian lake stubs earlier BTW.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:24, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dunno cos Sipaliwini takes up a huge part of the country!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:32, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you link the resorts in the district articles? Then maybe we can work out what settlement belongs to which resort and split it that way.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:43, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No worries I've linked them already. just judging by the settlements in Maplandia I'd say by resort would be overkill. Most of them are too small to contain more than 2 settlements. By districts I think would be better. I say by district and maybe if the resorts are much larger with a lot of settlement for each one in the biggie Sipalwini we split those by resort. Category:Populated places in Suriname I think should now be empty then and split by district.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:06, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Creating village articles using AWB?[edit]

Hello Ser Amantio di Nicolao, yes, it is possible to create articles like Rokkadakatti and populate the settlements template using AWB. Have you checked out the CSVLoader plugin for AWB? You can substitute the page name alone with the AWB append function. You can substitute many other fields on the article using the plugin. Please check out the town example. You will need to get a bot approval before you start creating any of these articles using AWB. Ganeshk (talk) 15:11, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Reber for deletion[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Reber, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Reber until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. D•g Talk to me/What I've done 03:10, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assessing[edit]

I've seen you have put WP Estonia templates to lots of Estonian villages, but leaving them unassesed. I would be grateful if you assess them class=Stub and importance=Low. Or at least keep it on mind in future, then it doesn't make more work for us. Thank you. Pelmeen10 (talk) 14:27, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Exciting times[edit]

A few years back you'd never have found enough info to write Homalin or Negomano. Google is less than 1/10th the way there to scan books. Things can only get 10 times better from now eh?♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:57, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Better?. Oh dear I've got to source this over the next few days!! Ideally blue link everything too... I'm tired of Burma at the moment... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:35, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, but Thelma's work on Mexico always looks good. The scary thing is that the vast majority of actor articles could easily be looking like that and they should be but it is like 1000 years work to even do Italian cinema biographies let alone the world... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:53, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico[edit]

Check out alumni of Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art. Can you add Category:Alumni of the Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica to those which are blue linked? Rosie has done a few.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:27, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you change the name of the categories to Alumni of the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico (I;ve split page).♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:02, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. But I think Thelma did a lot of the expansion on that other one after you created it.  :) --Rosiestep (talk) 20:16, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you have the inclination, can you look at the footnote at bottom of page that relates to a 1938 opera essay by Silvio D'Amico? If it makes sense to include any of that in D'Amico's article, you'd do it more just than I. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:34, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed, you removed the Category:Photographers from the article I just created. Then, thanks to you, I learned about HOTCAT and I installed it. Guess what happened next? Category:Photographers were put back again by HOTCAT.:-) I think it's okay though. The subject was the one who mostly worked with famous American Jazz musicians. (He took photos of them and these photos were published in notable papers around the world.) If it's not okay to use Category:Photographers, please guide me about this. Thanks. Error[edit]

Ah can you use AWB and fix the couple of rivers stubs I created "See also" if supposed to say list of rivers in Minas Gerais and that supposed to say references!♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:26, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, hey even Yemen info is getting better, [1] and [2] etc.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:06, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks as if Hajjah can be expanded using this.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:10, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was just adding pics and a bit to Jaar, Yemen and I came across on USAID the district name. Turns out we have 333 articles for Districts of Yemen which have 2003 census data. I'm going to start them all shortly.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:15, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've expanded List of Czech painters but because my Microsoft Office was only a trial I don't have a package to format the list properly. Can you do the control h thing on word to do it? If you've forgotten I'll remind you.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:43, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did you see the note? I started a few of the painters.♦ Dr. Blofeld

Thanks,♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:10, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

De nada. There is something headachy about reading Czech language text though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:13, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to put this on your user page, notable Czech biographies from one source.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:41, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I tell you what. Its much better to "sub stub" 4 or 5 articles and then go back to them and add details. What I haven't the patience for is having to type out the categories and links again and again. If the links are there ready I can simply translate and add text. I think I;m going to do transwiki this way from now on. I'll be much more productive this way. Its tough if people have to put up with "sub stubs" for five minutes.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:56, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good to see you recognise it. I like writing about old dead painters, not so keen on writing about living painters or those born after 1950.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:02, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's some more names in here of some painters.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:27, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not bad, 15 Czech painters I've started today. Hopefully you can do a few.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:37, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're not on the ball of late! Can you create the missing category for Karel Wellner? You were on the ball with this though, ♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:42, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You, AFD noms? Surely not?♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:52, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Tomorrow I'll finish off the three remaing Yemeni governorates and complete the districts, you may wish to stub tag them at some point. Next few days now I'll be unleashing the Antarctica stubs will I'm sure you'll look forward to. LOL have you seen the google penguin view of the south sandwich islands yet? Zoom in on Half Moon Island.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:56, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah its is creepy alright when you see right up to your house on street view and "walk the streets" using google. Google are obsessed with power and world domination, it really is the new SPECTRE. bY 2020 things will really become creepy. They'll have google see-through next in which you can see inside buildings including your own house! Now then there would be real privacy concerns! Feeling the heat of office eh? Don't even talk about composers about other nationalities, Czech need doing first!♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:24, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tis OK. I can't help but get depressed on here when I browse Californian place articles. just awful. The vast majority contain barely any sources, scruffy lists of schools and mayors, a distinct lack of photographs, unsourced, badly written history sections, the insistence on the bad quality census maps as opposed to pin (which have some validity but should be improved all the same) , bright yellow navigation templates. Its a similar problem with Indian and Pakistan place articles; its high number of ip edits and lack of numbers of decent editors maintaing them so most end up with the rambot demo section and unsourced crap written around it. Also many of the towns, even major ones have very few if any decent photographs. And these are the sort of places you;d take for granted that they'd be decent and many of them are worse than some of the articles we have on cities in the third world!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:57, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Me too, in fact I usually avoid US town articles I'm afraid in general, not because of a lack if interest but because I find them difficult to read/aesthetically unpleasing. Canada too is mostly the same. If they were all as good as the New York City article (plenty of photographs/decent sourced chunky paragraphs) I'd think differently. I NYC is a global city but still I'm sure most US towns could be of a similar quality at least. Then when I do try to make improvements I end up getting lot of opposition, you know the "our turf push off" scenario, "we like it our way" and I usually end up being reverted. If there is such a community opposing one wonders why the articles are in such a bad state! But i've noticed several things in general about US places, a concerning lack of decent sources which actually seme available anyway for unincorporated places and the biggest issue for me, no photographs. Even many fair-sized towns have a distinct lack of photographs. I wonder why this is. ALso strange is how a tiny stream can be FA yet an article on like Glendale, California will be severely lacking. and the county the stream is in will be barely readable and unsourced or something. In my view a very badly wiritten unsourced/unwikified section/scruffy lists of schools and mayors is as bad as nothing and actually requires more effort to improve.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:20, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to have more in common with central/eastern Europe than the United States. Is this true?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:35, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I agree. The Glendale article could be much improved with some reformatting, removing the ugly bullet point sections and wikifying it and adding sources. I'll try to do that now and then I'll resume with those Antarctica stubs.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:38, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed you seem to be especially interested in Poland, Czech, and the Baltic states and have classical tastes in their history/culture like opera and painting. I suppose if you have ancestry from these places that might explain it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:51, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent. I've just spent the last hour at least cleaning up a mere 3 Californian cities and thats simply converting crappy lists into prose/removing them, rearranging articles properly and adding the photographs that only seem to exist, albeit poor ones. If it takes that long to clean them up before I can even begin to start writing them properly with sources how long would it take to clean up every single article on a US place. Its a killer task. I've had enough of 3 already!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:03, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nice one. Just noticed that Rambot data is now ten years out of date. Is there a national census scheduled this year or something? As the entirely of the demographics will need updating. The best thing really would be a coded bot to also format articles properly. Most of them would look a lot better with prose formatting even if porly sourced. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:29, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I thought so seems as the last was 2000. The best thing would be to code a bot and simply get it to replace 2000 data with 2010 whereever it says so in the source. There is too much 2000 data. Hopefully it will prompt some people to cleanup some of the articles at the same time.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:05, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Probably "December 31". that's when they like doing censuses isn't it. RIght then, watch out for the New Pages shortly.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:08, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent. I look forward to seeing them, and enjoy the opera, what venue is it?♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:11, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great, don't forget to add the names to the list! I'm going to get some air now I'll return a little later.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:25, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll resume later. Maybe I'll concentrate on getting them started the next week or so, there's a LOT to start.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:29, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yemen is done. Perhaps you could tag them sometime next day. I also have those Benin arrondissements and Bhutanese gewogs to finish.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:55, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you're wondering what that rant was about "super coordinator" by that ip over N. T. Rama Rao. Remember that article was in a typical Indian "state" with tons of cleanup up banners, poorly written and fully of POV and unsourced claims? Well I took the time to rewrite it, remove the POV and improve the quality and added all the sources and even uploaded a decent photo. And that's the thanks I get... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:01, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I also need your word processing to wiki link some of the township templates. Not until tomorrow though. I'll copy the remaining villages by township into the templates for the rest of the district and then let you do it. It shouldn't take more than ten minutes to format the lot. I really need to buy a word package, stingy computer dealer didn't even have it included. I had a free trial for Microsft Office which run out.. 100 Antarctica articles started already, expect 500 by late tonight..♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:34, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Those were really good stubs you created yesterday. I added a bit to some of them. Did you get the emails? How was the opera last night?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:42, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Grammy Award for Best Polka Album[edit]

Thanks for creating the new category. I went ahead and added the category to the larger "Polka" category. However, that causes the article to appear in the Grammy Awards, Grammy Award for Best Polka Album, and Polka categories. Is this redundant? Perhaps you are better at categorization than I am. Feel free to correct that article or revert any of the changes I made. Thanks again! --Another Believer (Talk) 18:34, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ser Amantio di Nicolao, hello again.

I just came across an article and I would like to know your opinion about it. Subject is 26 years old, just out of the school, already a politician and formed a political party: "Balcioglu is also the father of National Secularism, a revised and reformed version of Kemalism that endorses strong secularism and inclusive nationalism. He founded the National Secularist Party (Milliyetci Halkci Parti) on October 1st, 2010 for spreading the ideology in Turkey." As it wasn't enough, he was given one of the highest Italian-decoration medals Commendatore OSSI, along with a medal (decoration) from Great Britain called OBE (Order of the British Empire.)

I made some research on the Google about all what he says he is and he did, I couldn't find anything. Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of him. It looks like brilliantly stitched-bogus notoriety. It further says this about him: "He currently works at the Istanbul Policy Center as a Project Administrative Officer. He serves as the Assistant to Mr.Joost Lagendijk." There is no connection there neither. Nothing ties him to Istanbul Policy Center and to Joost Lagendijk who happens to be a famous, European Union politician. The whole thing (to me) appears to be a hoax in terms of the facts has been presented. No verifiable references.

Subject's infobox text kept changing and in the beginning it looked like this Infobox text #1 then like this Infobox text #2 then this, as of today Can Balcioglu. The Article is created by User:Blackiconcan (the subjects first name is Can) and some few others which contributed to the article are suspicious too. What would you make of it? Since I'm not an experienced user, I need your help and guidance. Is this a candidate for Speedy deletion? Cheers. Fusion is the future (talk) 12:39, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jaroslav Čermák (painter)[edit]

Hi Ser Amantio. I'll look at it today. Feel free to let me know if you need any help with any Czech related articles that you create. I'm checking regularly this list, but it doesn't work perfect. Regards. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 05:38, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I think the article is ready for DYK. The refs are all in Czech, but it should not be a problem. There's a little info about him online, I'll try to find out more in printed sources. I'll check also the resistance fighter Jaroslav Čermák, the topic seems to be very interesting and I've never heard about him before. Would you mind to check my grammar, please? Ask whatever. Regards. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 13:19, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi can you add Category:People from Karlovac to the people in the list on the Karlovac article page and also to Ana Vidović and Viktor Vidović.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:28, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. Still not feeling better. I was OK yesterday but today my head aand neck feel terrible to the point I need to lie down. If it continues for more than a week I'm going to have a brain scan I think just just be on the safe side. I believe the doctor and everything but I'm worried how it is feeling. Flu bug and ear trouble is supposed to last like 10 days not 3 weeks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:47, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wake up in the morning with a severe headache/neckache and it doesn't wear off until late afternoon. From 5 - bedtime I feel a little better. Its very frustrating as there is no pill I can take to make it better. The pressure builds up when I'm asleep and lying down which accounts for the symptoms according to the doctor. My ear feels better now but my head feels worse, odd... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:30, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I don't think the cold weather drawing in helps. You know when you go out for a walk in the cold wind and its gives you a biting headache it kind of feels like that . I don't feel nauseous though which is a good thing just wish I could clear it up asap! I don't have much energy today like I had yesterday. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:46, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Winter is nigh... (Again...) ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:14, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Check out this. Its a new challenge for us. Should be interesting. If you can think of anymore entities please add them, any major island.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:52, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've begun adding some articles to work on. Should be a highly interesting mixture by the end of it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:53, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to suggest them. Remember though, no biographies, no artists or composers! The entries are basically geography/architecture as that's what I and Nvvchar have in common. If there are plenty of sources anything cultural miscellaneous things too but not people.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:00, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, only add one though for any of them as I want to choose one too! Make sure though they have plenty of decent sources in google web and books. Anything cultural museums, palaces, monuments and solid geography like towns/counties/rivers/lakes/mountains etc. By all means pick some obscure ones every now and then to keep it interesting. I look forward to seeing the end result between us!♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:10, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Head felt a lot better this morning. Can you recategorise the wards and settlements in Category:Iringa Region to Category:Populated places in the Iringa Region?♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:54, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've also started the Arusha Region and Ruvuma cat for now. If you go through the districts of Category:Arusha Region you'll spot loads of wards which also need categorizing as populated places. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:03, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, I knew AWB would be best for you to do that. Hopefully I can populate some of the new categories, best to create all 26 regional cats I think. See my map for A19 road (Tanzania). Not bad eh?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:09, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What I'll do now is navigate via google maps and create an article for settlements along the highway. Pop data can be added later when eventually somebody has the balls to tackle every village in Tanzania.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:12, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea. I have to extract coordinates using flash earth. However it is generally very blurry and lesser quality than google so often I have to guess coordinates. If you google map the coordinates in A19 road (Tanzania) you'll see I was pretty close but not spot on, I could keep on tweaking it but can't be bothered ot make it exact. I wish google had the exact cooridnates at the bottom, The first village from Mbamba Bay is Nyoni but no website has the coordinates!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Part of the fun though is zooming in on google maps and navigation, its the nearest you're gonna get to the village so coordinates are important. What my goal for wikipedia is if you drive along any major road anywhere in the world and whatever settlement you come to, however small we have an article on it, preferably large and resourceful but this will take time. Using roads and rivers for coordination at least gives the reader an initial perspective. I bet if I dig later I'll find the population for most of these villages in that pdf.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:58, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, and remember this is the still the Internet infant days. In terms of technology and coverage the Internet is still the devleopment equivalent of a Wright early plane to a Concorde. I use that example as the year 2010 rather than 1910 by the year 2100 will be viewed in the same way. I have no doubts that by the year 2100 information available will be flowing at ease for many countries. Google and wikipedia are here to stay I think. If something does happen in the future in terms of a wikipedia II or whatever I am sure the information in wikipedia will not be discarded. At some point I envisage a satellite package/street view package in which you can freely take photographs of places. Maybe wikipedia could come to an agreement with google over photograph imagery? If so once they have street view we could photograph anywhere. Not the same as an actual photo there but near enough.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:16, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can zoom right in on my car. It was taken on a Sunday as my sister's car is parked outside the house! RIght. I'm half way across the A19 now, I'll resume a little later maybe or tomorrow. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:38, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A104 road (Tanzania) is one of the most imporant north-south highways and continues under the same name in Kenya, I may do that one sometime. But plently left to do for A19 right now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:54, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

B144 road (Tanzania) (joins A104 has an image. I couldn't work on roads for too long though as it gets boring.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:58, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HI, thanks, I wasn't sure if you'd noticed I was here or not! Boiling hot yesterday with a temperature really didn't feel like editing. Still feel hot today but I have a bit more energy. I've had a permanent headache for about a month now. I don't know what I'd have done if I was working full time somewhere. I'm OK today, if a little hot/headachy. I've got enough energy for some stubbing now though..♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:03, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. Those 83 article articles need removing still though from the main cat!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:25, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you add categories to Vratislav Hugo Brunner?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:11, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you check the authors mentioned in Věnceslav Černý that they don't have the Slavic suffixes on them. Thanks,♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:07, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers. Some of the articles I started today are really more notable than I'd anticipated.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:11, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

God bless USAID eh? See Khulm River! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:27, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Its there photographs I like, however small they may be as they capture parts of the world which are poorly covered on the web. Can you think of a category for Satar Bayee? Now that is obscure an Afghan almond article.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:34, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Production[edit]

I need you expert category views on creating a category. We have Category:Banana production and Category:Pomegranate production etc. It might be a good idea to have a series for each crop and series of articles. I mean you oculd do anything like "Date production in Ghana " or something". But how would you link them "Agricultural production", "Fruit by production". Mm if we had "Turnip production in Belgium" and "Turnip production" that couldn't classed as a fruit so what. By "crop" "commodity" or what?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:11, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah OK try that, But we have Category:Coffee production etc which all need to feed out of it. Ideally the Agricultural production category would have every commodity known to man organized by sub category e.g "cucumber production and then a series of article within that by country. Its a vastly underdeveloped part of wikipedia and one that generally has a lot of web sources available for. If we can set that up sometime I'll create a "case study" for every fruit/vegetable for any country !! I for sure would love to see articles like Coffee production in Costa Rica and Banana production in Honduras type for each commodity. It can only get really obscure, like Kumquat production in Tuvalu, Radish production in Liechtenstein or something is what we need!♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:29, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Like Category:Agricultural production by commodity. Only we should have sub categories on every one of the List of fruits and List of vegetables!♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:44, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

... for the help the cats, etc., for my Nathaniel Holmes stub. It is much appreciated. :) Kafka Liz (talk) 01:41, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wondered if you could use AWB or word document to ensure that any of the remaining articles to be started in the Antarctica missing articles pages are changed from peak to Summit (topography)|peak e.g here. He seems to have sorted out the existing ones started anyway.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:03, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I was wondering if you use AWB to wikilink any article in Category:Populated places in Kyrgyzstan sub cat and Category:Populated places in Tajikistan which mentions a M41 road in it. I was wondering if you could get AWB to replace any M41 road or M41 with M41 highway. Its just it is an extremely important road in Cenral Asia and many many articles lie along this road so it would be a god idea if it existed and was linked. I could have sworn I started it but that was the M37 highway not M41. Tomorrow I'll do the other half of the Tanzanian road.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:24, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

regarding your edit[edit]

Hi, in the future please don't make edits like this unless you can provide a citation [3]. There is no evidence he's from Seoul. The team didn't give his birth place as Seoul and the team doesn't actually come from Seoul.--Crossmr (talk) 02:40, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, my apologies, I thought I'd edited it out of him. I had to create a couple player articles so I copied over from another page and must have missed it on him ;) ignore my previous comment.--Crossmr (talk) 09:37, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
