Hi-I added the GNIS and Minnesota of Transportation county map-Marshall County to the Radium, Minnesota article. Radium, Minnesota is labeled a ghost town. Thank you-RFD (talk) 10:34, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The WV Capitol[edit]

Hey there, already asked bitmapped, thought I would ask you as well, I finally got the pics I wanted of the dome and now I have a question or 2 for you. Please. After reading Cass Gilberts WV State Capitol, it was very clear that this building is LOADED with symbols. I have captured those specified by Gilbert ion his book. As Gilbert was its Architect, I wanted to know HOW I could introduce usage of symbols in the current article? I have a breakdown of the dome schematic, and can create an image with my photos. ANY advice or input would be GREATLY appreciated.Coal town guy (talk) 13:40, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd add a new section about the building's design and describe the symbolism there. I'm surprised there isn't a design or architecture section already; a lot of the state capitol articles seem to be missing them, for some reason. (If I get the time, I might have to do a little work on the IL and WI state capitol articles.) TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 22:55, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sunspot, New Mexico[edit]

Hi-Please look at the Sunspot, New Mexico article. For some reason, the community and the observatory was closed down. I found a GNIS for the community and Sunspot, New Mexico was listed as a locale. I also located a map for Sunspot, New Mexico that I added as citation to the article. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 15:26, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I added an infobox. Even though the GNIS doesn't call it a community, enough other sources do that it seems reasonable for the article to call it one. As for the observatory being closed down, I'm pretty sure only the government knows what's up with that right now. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 04:07, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cattese, Illinois and Iowa[edit]

Hi-you may want to look at the Cattese, Illinois and Iowa GNIS-464492. It gets confusing in that the TOPOZONE map for Cattese Cattese Top Map in Dubuque County IA has Cattese located in Dubuque County, Iowa; then the GNIS for Cattese has the community in Dubuque County, Iowa and Jo Daviess County, Illinois. It is confusing. Many thanks for your help-RFD (talk) 12:19, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My guess is that the GNIS is counting part of one of the Mississippi River islands as Cattese, for whatever reason, though it doesn't make a lot of sense for a community to include islands with no bridge/boat connection between them. At any rate, though, Cattese looks long gone; there's still a railroad, but I can't find either a road through the site or any other signs of human activity (aside from a nearby hiking and picnic area). I can't find any other sources that establish what kind of community it was or what happened to it, so I think we're better off not having an article until we can figure some of that out. Whizbang, Oklahoma[edit]

Hi-would you please look at the Whizbang, Oklahoma article? The GNIS ID: 1829088 has the community named as Denoya, Oklahoma. According to the article there are some occupied homes still in the community. Finally Happy New Year and my thanks for your service and assistance to Wikipedia-thank you again-RFD (talk) 15:53, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Despite what the GNIS says, I'd say it's a ghost town. It's not listed on Oklahoma highway maps (even though they haven't taken off the nearby ghost town of Carter Nine), and even if it does still have residents, I feel like even an inhabited place counts as a ghost town if it went from 10,000 residents to nearly nothing. The article needs some work, though, particularly the references (which are mostly dead links or unreliable). And a Happy New Year to you too!
