Ways to improve Racial issues faced by black quarterbacks

Hello, WuTang94,

Thanks for creating Racial issues faced by black quarterbacks! I edit here too, under the username Rosguill and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

The lead needs to be rewritten to conform with the guidelines at WP:LEAD: the title (or a near paraphrase) needs to be included (and bolded) in the first sentence, and the lead should also do a better job of summarizing the article, rather than just prefacing it. On another note, you may want to consider expanding this article to be about Racism in the NFL (or writing it separately), as we apparently don't already have an article for that.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Rosguill}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

@Rosguill: Thanks for the feedback. This article was actually part of the Race section of the general article on the quarterback position, but I decided to branch it onto its new page as I saw the section was intrinsically detailed, which merited its own page (see this edit for example). Currently, there is a link from the Race section of the quarterback page to this page, with a short summary left there.

Most of the historical context and the sociological analysis of this page was written by other editors, albeit anonymously, but I added much of the section describing individual black quarterbacks and how race affected them. I can help rewriting the introduction to meet guidelines, but would ideally like some help.

While there is no article for "Racism in the NFL", there already is a page on Black players in professional American football which talks about the general history of black players in the NFL and other historical pro-football leagues. Perhaps you could raise this in the Talk page for the Racial issues faced by black quarterbacks article.

Cheers, --WuTang94 (talk) 02:27, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. RonBot (talk) 18:12, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks

For working on the list. FYI the full list is based only on the single Deadspin source, which seems to count any roster season/team even if they didn't play (I think the rule for inclusion should be QBs/seasons/teams that actually played in a regular or post season game). I only checked the list against the official stats for the ones that have the NFL source; the rest I haven't checked yet–there's a lot of them. The Deadspin article was written after 2013–14 season, so there's definitely players missing. I'm working on some prose offline right now that I will add in a little while, and then I was gonna nom it for DYK before the deadline at midnight UTC, so I very much appreciate your spending time on it! Happy to help. I just had knowledge of some newer players or noticed some gaps in the list and wanted to help fill them in. WuTang94 (talk) 18:51, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for creating List of quarterbacks of non-white or non-black descent or ancestry.

User:Rosguill while reveiwing this page as a part of our page curation process had the following comments:

You should probably include in-line citations, as opposed to having them at the ends of sections. While it may be fine for the text that you've written and sourced, all it takes is one other editor adding an unsourced example to a section and suddenly we can't tell what's backed by sources and what isn't.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Rosguill}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Greninja a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Greninja. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Ohhh - I see. I was trying to remove the plagued by conflict from the {{wp:short description}}. I'm guessing my ctrl+c missed and I had that 67th as top copy/paste in my que. Oh well. Any way - thanks again. — Ched :  ?  — 23:57, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

No problem. In addition to the correct franchise year, I thought the "plagued by conflict" was an important part to add to the short description as that particular season saw quite a bit of drama within the team. You could bring it up with the article's talk page if you feel it's unnecessary. --WuTang94 (talk) 15:30, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

I appreciate the work you put into adding Ben Rodriguez to List of recurring Futurama characters. Unfortunately, as the title indicates, that list is for recurring characters and as far as I'm aware Ben only appeared in one episode. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 15:02, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

  • @Doniago I see. Thanks for the clarification. I didn't see that a requirement for being a recurring character was to appear more than once, and I just though 'lil Ben was notable enough to be included. --WuTang94 (talk) 20:31, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
  • Well, 'recurring' means 'appears more than once'. Otherwise they're just...uh...curring. :) Happy editing! DonIago (talk) 02:04, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

Colts–Texans rivalry moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Colts–Texans rivalry, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. This could potentially be notable, but I don't see the sources present in the article right now.Sam-2727 (talk) 21:50, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

@Sam-2727: Thank you for the feedback. However, as it stands, even this draft for the page has more sources than other NFL rivalry pages such as Ravens/Titans and even Cowboys/Eagles, the latter of which is a more prominent rivalry than Colts–Texans. --WuTang94 (talk) 22:39, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:List of Planet Express employees, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.S Philbrick(Talk) 18:39, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

WuTang94, That's fine, but please be aware that copy patrol identifies edits to draft pages. Unfortunately, it did not tell me that the material could be found within another Wikipedia page, but identified a different website that it copied material from Wikipedia. I guess that it came from Wikipedia and guessed correctly, but another agent might have simply reverted so adding the required attribution at the time of the edit will help avoid reversions.
