Omissions and exclusions[edit]

  • In Mecklenburg County, Elizabeth Lawrence House and Garden in Charlotte is included in the September 22, 2006 weekly list of actions[1] and is also listed on the North Carolina Historic Preservation Office website[2].   • Ellicott Rock, which marks and spans the border of South Carolina and North Carolina, appears in the SC listings but not in the NC listings. Like other boundary stones, it should be in both jurisdictions, i think. doncram (talk) 01:07, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice catch, DR! The NRIS listing is for "Pine Street Creamery, (Former)", listed December 1, 1997, location 414 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, North Carolina. It should indeed be "State" not "Street" in the name. The place is also a Raleigh Historic Landmark, as shown here. doncram (talk) 19:25, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

County location issues[edit]

  • Massey Hill High School in Fayetteville is listed in the NRIS as in Wake County. Fayetteville and the address of the school are clearly in Cumberland County (which does not border Wake County). --sanfranman59 (talk) 03:18, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Saint Agnes Church, 27 Franklin St., Franklin, North Carolina: Listed in the NRIS as in Caswell County. Per the North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office, it's in Macon County[4].   • Dallas Graded and High School, 300 W. Church St., Dallas, NC: Listed in the NRIS as in Duplin County. The address is in Gaston County and nowhere near Duplin County.   • Leak-Chaffin-Browder House, NC 8, 0.1 mi. S of jct. with NC 1941 and St. Philip's Episcopal Church, NC 65 and 8 and SR 1957 are incorrectly listed in the NRIS as in Germantown. Per the NC HPO website, they're in Germanton.[5] Germantown is in Hyde County in eastern NC. Germanton is in Stokes County in north-central NC.

Town name issues[edit]

  • Downtown Spruce Pine Historic District, listed August 28, 2003, roughly bounded by Oak Ave., Locust St., Topaz St., and NC 226, Spruce Pines. The town name should be Spruce Pine, singular. Lvklock (talk) 21:37, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speight-Bynum House, March 12, 1992, NC 1231 W side, 0.4 mi. N of jct. with NC 1232, Walstonsburg. Town name should be Walstonburg. No "s" after the "n". Lvklock (talk) 02:26, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oteen Veterans Administration Hospital Historic District is listed as being in "Ashville", North Carolina. It is located in Asheville, North Carolina, with an "E". Another NRHP-listed place, the "Biltmore-Oteen Bank Building" is listed as being in Asheville. Street address issues[edit]

  • City Cemetery in Raleigh, NC: Address listed as 17 S. E. St. There doesn't appear to be a "S. E. St." in Raleigh. Several web sites have the address as 500 E. Hargett St. --sanfranman59 (talk) 05:52, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Planters Building in Lumberton, North Carolina, is listed on the nominating form as "312 N. Chestnut Street". When the building was photographed in December 2014, the address over the front door was "308": see photo. — Ammodramus (talk) 03:18, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Architect, builder, engineer issues[edit]

  • "Northrup & O'Brien" is incorrectly listed in NRIS version 2010a as architects for two places. The correct spelling is Northup & O'Brien. See Heather Fearnbach (2010). "Northup & O'Brien". North Carolina State University Libraries..
