It needs more sources. Right now my only source is Saulo's book, which covers a lot of ground from 1930-roughly 1971, but after PD1081 I have nothing. Saulo is also very biased in his book, so other sources would round things out nicely.

It needs more details on the CPP during the Martial Law era and beyond. I think the CPP article is pretty detailed but I'm not sure.

Pictures, I guess.

So, as of today I'd like to think I've contributed what I can to this particular article, at least insofar as the history of the leftist movement in the Philippines is concerned. Some things though:

This article got bloated real fast. Understandable, given the amount of history it had to cover, but I think we need to start thinking of splitting it up, or at least, summarizing each section and simultaneously beefing up sections relevant to it (e.g. putting the bulk of the PKP's history to the PKP page).
- In line with this, the next things I'm going to do would be fill up/make articles for things relevant to this broad discussion. My sandbox has a sort of template in it, which I'll be trying to fill up next. I'll probably even just straight up add the template, I don't know.
I found some additional sources, but more would be very useful. I'll try to find more sources and comb through the article again, and see what I can add based on those additional sources. A particularly useful source would be Jose Lava's "Milestones in the History of the CPP", and PKP/CPP memoranda in general.
This article is too focused on the PKP/CPP. Understandable, since they're the main organizations, but they are by no means the only ones. Groups like the SPP, PKMP, and the AMT were important in the PKP, while a better look into the CPP-NPA-NDF dynamic would be pretty nice.
Still needs pictures. Not too sure on how non-free pictures work, but since most of these guys are dead that means no free alternative could be made, right? Which necessitates the use of a non-free resource.
Proof-reading would be nice.

Major Overhaul[edit]

Hello. I recently did a major overhaul of the page, resulting in at least half of the ~~content~~ word count getting cut, new sources, and a new structure. To summarize what I did:

I trimmed what I can from the page to make it more concise. The idea is that main articles should serve to cover the details of historical events while this article should be more of an overview. Over the next few days I plan on reviewing all relevant articles and adding information as needed. Ideally, the history section shouldn't be too long, but fortunately we are blessed by a wealth of scholarship so we can really get in the details.
I restructured the History section to four distinct periods: Pre-PKP, PKP, First Rectification, and Second Rectification. These are generally the "pivotal moments" in the communist movement's history. Doing this also allowed me to re-balance the article to give more depth to the CPP-NPA-NDF, an organization that has achieved preeminence in the Philippine communist movement over the past 50 years.
I added two new sections: Ideology and Major Organizations. This is to expand the article from simply being a history dump. Detailed discussion on tactics should however be relegated to their individual organizations' pages.

It's a major rewrite, I know. But I think it's in keeping with the spirit of the article's intent. That said, there's still a lot to be done:

In terms of historical fact, I think the bulk of work is on beefing up articles orbiting this one, such as individual organizations, events, and so on.
I think we can trim the article even more without losing key information.
It needs more pictures and other media
