Statue at Kempton Park[edit]

There's a statue of Dessie at the Kempton Park Racecourse, near London: am I right in saying the statue is not quite life size? It seemed a bit small for such a big horse. It is still beautiful, though, shows him as almost friendly. Stereoroid 12:39, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tone of article[edit]

This article sounds like a kids book rather than an encyclopedia article. I think it needs to be rewritten. NightLord 20:49, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Owners[edit]

The article says Richard Burridge was the owner of the horse. This article says he was a co-owner, with Midge Burridge and Jimmy Burridge.

But I believe the consortium of owners was wider still; so I haven't edited yet. I'd like an authoritative source for the members of the ownership consortium. Unfortunately more than one WP:RS states that Richard was the owner, rather than co-owner, so my confidence in daily papers as a source for this is - um - limited.

I've got Richard Burridge's book "The Grey Horse". He owned half of Desert Orchid, Jimmy Burridge initially owned a quarter and the other quarter was owned by Simon Bullimore (also mentioned in that Yorkshire Post article), who was a partner in the same firm of solicitors as Jimmy Burridge. Jimmy's half was subsequently split between him and Midge so they owned 12.5% each. No other owners are mentioned in the book beyond those four. As Richard Burridge was generally the media face of the Desert Orchid partnership I suppose the papers regarded him as "owner" rather than "co-owner". I'll edit and cite when I get time.--Bcp67 (talk) 09:40, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
