I thought they worked in a treacle mine, but this could be my faulty memory. Was it actually a jam butty mine? PatGallacher (talk) 17:19, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In Knotty Ash, jam butties are mined, but treacle is found in wells.

Snuff quarries, gravy wells, and broken biscuit repair works. Confirmed by Doddy himself on the Arena show in 2007, repeated 10 December 2015. 2.31.162.2 (talk) 22:14, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actors[edit]

What are they?[edit]

This article is not at all clear at who or what the Diddy Men are. It should be the first sentence. Currently the only description of them is in the third paragraph: "Diddy Men are about 3 feet tall and said to work in the Jam Butty (Jam (US Jelly) sandwich) mines of Knotty Ash." Diddy[edit]

"Diddy is northern slang for "little"."

But The New Partridge Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English gives just "UK". And Oxford has just "British informal". Are there any sources for Northern UK and/or Liverpool?
