Promotional content[edit]

This article is full of way too much promotional content, both of the cats (which, for specimens conforming to the draft standards, run around US$1500–$3000, even higher), of various breeders, and of the two breeders claiming to have originated this variety.

In particular, the entire (though short) section on temperament is non-encyclopedic twaddle:

"The Elf typically displays a lively, friendly disposition. They love attention and are highly affectionate and extremely patient. They are very playful and love to climb. Elf cats are very loyal to their owners but they do need to receive lots of affection and don’t do well if left on their own for very long."

Every single thing in that is true of well-kept cats of all breeds, and fails to be true of under-socialized or feral cats of any breed. Zero of these things are particular to any specific breed. I'm removing this unsourced nonsense. If you can produce a controlled and peer-reviewed ethological study that proves something, feel free to add that point back with such a reliable source, not just some breeder's promotional claims.

Unverifiable TICA claims[edit]

Various claims about provisional TICA recognition have completely failed verification with TICA's own materials. They do not list this alleged breed as even "Provisional", do not mention it in any online materials, and (contrary to the claims of two breeders cited in this article) say nothing at all about this cat being part of "Sphynx Breed Group".  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  11:09, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merged and summarized[edit]

I've merged a summary of [the pertinent and sourced parts of] the former content of the article, to List of experimental cat breeds#Elf, as was the original intent of the AfD closer.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  03:41, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
