Tone[edit]

Recent edits have added lots of detail in a saccharine, non-encyclopedic tone that's inappropriate for Wikipedia. A few examples:

  • For one week, parents have the chance to see their children laughing and having fun, without worrying about doctors or hospitals.
  • And it all began because one little girl's dream touched the heart of a man who cared.
  • Pamela brings a strong background in community service to Give Kids The World.

These sound like statements from Give Kids The World's own publicity material, not excerpts from a neutral encyclopedia article. The organization has a noble purpose but contributions to the article should be written without the sentimental tone. —Whoville 00:51, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed -- this material IS pulled verbatim from the GKtW website (example: [1]. Entire article probably needs to be rewritten. SpikeJones 14:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Restoration[edit]

This page had been deleted:

I don't believe the article was unsalvageable. I restored it and deleted the saccharine "story" from it. It could still use some rewriting and some sources. - Brian Kendig (talk) 17:49, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
