Tone[edit]

Recent edits have added lots of detail in a saccharine, non-encyclopedic tone that's inappropriate for Wikipedia. A few examples:

For one week, parents have the chance to see their children laughing and having fun, without worrying about doctors or hospitals.
And it all began because one little girl's dream touched the heart of a man who cared.
Pamela brings a strong background in community service to Give Kids The World.

These sound like statements from Give Kids The World's own publicity material, not excerpts from a neutral encyclopedia article. The organization has a noble purpose but contributions to the article should be written without the sentimental tone. Whoville 00:51, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed -- this material IS pulled verbatim from the GKtW website (example: [1]. Entire article probably needs to be rewritten. SpikeJones 14:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Restoration[edit]

This page had been deleted:

I don't believe the article was unsalvageable. I restored it and deleted the saccharine "story" from it. It could still use some rewriting and some sources. - Brian Kendig (talk) 17:49, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
