"Brief summary"[edit]

The "Brief summary" section worries me, without citations or wikilinks, that it's a copy-paste from another article. That's how it reads. Can someone who knows some more about Ingrid clean this up? --NewtΨΦ 19:15, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Brief background part is highly preachy. Someone please clean it up. Gurry 05:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Link Spam"?[edit]

Jammer6524 added a link to an interview with Ingrid Mattson; Requestion removed it citing linkspam. How was this link different from the others, which weren't deleted? I found the interview to be interesting. Macduff 03:27, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Muslim Revert?[edit]

She's a convert; I have no idea what a revert means in a religious context (and the read link didn't help) but I do know what a convert is. A revert sounds like someone going back to a religion they left, not picking a new one. jackbrown (talk) 07:18, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What are you addressing? The word "revert" doesn't appear in the article. —Largo Plazo (talk) 10:32, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to Muslim theology, everyone is born as a "muslim"-- i.e., in a state of submission to God. The labels we take on later in life reflect our upbringing, our forgetfulness, etc. Prophet Muhammad never claimed to be bringing a new religion; he was restoring the integrity of existing faiths. Thus, when people "convert", they are simply returning to the state of submission to God, hence the use of the term 'revert'.

Publications.[edit]

Dr. Ingrid Mattson has authored many articles, academic papers, book reviews, as well as a book, The Story of the Quran: its history and place in Muslim life, that became a widely-used textbook on Islamic sacred scripture. Her academic writings include topics on Islamic ethics and law, religious leadership, the Quran, poverty, slavery, charity and adoption. She lectures widely and nationally to academic and general audiences, and is frequently consulted by media, government, and civic organizations. These publications are not listed and the External links need to be updated as well, some are not working — Preceding unsigned comment added by Demakaz (talkcontribs) 04:24, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can of course add the new information and sections/subsections citing reliable sources. Please do not change the style of the layout. If you need help, feel free to ask any editor of wikipedia.~I hope this helps. Thanks.Justice007 (talk) 18:46, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks: Can you help me with the style and layout? I am not really familiar with them. As for the citing I will do them of course, at another time. Demakaz (talk) 18:55, 25 March 2013 (UTC).[reply]

Justic007: If I started editing my work now, are you going to undo it all, or you will just edit it? So in other words it is safe to undo my work without the worries that somebody else will undo it to the old version. Thanks Demakaz (talk) 19:13, 25 March 2013 (UTC).[reply]

Opposition to Islamic fundamentalism[edit]

Fundamentalism is not the same as extremism or terrorism. This section speaks about Islamic extremism and terrorism yet is titled as Opposition to Islamic fundamentalism. Fundamentalism in all religions has the same dictionary meaning which even Wikipedia’s article on fundamentalism agrees with.

Extremism in almost any faith especially when it reaches terrorism is not in itself fundamentalism. The mislabeling of this section infers that Islamic Fundamentalism is the same as Islamic Extremism and Terrorism and that’s incorrect.

I’ve improved this title now twice hopefully those reverting it back actually look into the meaning of fundamentalism. Nasiralamreeki (talk) 05:06, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
