Remove the title of "Professional Boxer" from Jake Paul's introduction. Jake Paul is not a participant in professional boxing organizations, and his events have been primarily classified as exhibition events. A more appropriate title would be "Social Media Influencer". 142.126.67.98 (talk) 22:27, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. Archives of Talk:Jake Paul have discussed this extensively in the past, and I doubt the status will change. NotAGenious (talk) 18:01, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
He beat 2 professional boxers, so therefore he is a professional boxer as of December 2023. 2A00:23C6:D584:5B01:748D:3CC9:F980:85C2 (talk) 10:33, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Approve the change to social media influencer. Beating a professional or two is simply not how that works. Being part of an organisation and ranked, rather than simply exhibition fights, makes you a professional. 2.25.161.216 (talk) 09:29, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Jake Paul is ranked 122 out of 1229 worldwide in the cruiserweight division on BoxRec, so I disagree that he isn't a real professional boxer by now, especially when he has stated his intention to become a world champion (while also pursuing these big fights that obviously don't get him closer to that goal). He started his professional boxing career in 2020 by fighting a YouTuber, a basketball player, and then MMA fighters, but he has also fought 3 professional boxers (lost to 1, won against 2), so evetually people have to accept that he is a professional boxer at this point. 2A00:23C6:D584:5B01:3C5D:DFC6:7846:450D (talk) 13:08, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Exhibition Boxing Match[edit]

Mike Tyson has confirmed that it's an exhibition boxing match in this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3xInUaRVhY&pp=ygUXbWlrZSB0eXNvbiB2cyBqYWtlIHBhdWw%3D

Short description should be updated. 2A00:23C6:D584:5B01:748D:3CC9:F980:85C2 (talk) 10:38, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For completeness, I'm adding here that I just edited the article to reflect that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations announced today they approved it as a professional bout, rather than an exhibition bout. [1] Darlingm (talk) 16:10, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, even though Mike Tyson initially said it was an exhibition, Jake Paul was public about wanting it to be professional, and MVP made it happen. Short description should be updated to "professional" and Introduction should include "heavyweight". 2A00:23C6:D584:5B01:A880:A935:49B6:8CEF (talk) 20:53, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this on wikipedia?[edit]

This event has no value apart from Internet noteriety unless something spectacular happens to make this event significant then this is just advertising material for the promoters 86.132.75.149 (talk) 09:46, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are both notable enough boxers on their own to have multiple Wikipedia pages for their biggest fights, so them having a boxing match is worthy of having a Wikipedia page (especially when it is the first boxing event to be hosted on Netflix). Also, Katie Taylor vs Amannda Serrano 2 is the co-main event, and their first boxing match had a Wikipedia page. 2A00:23C6:D584:5B01:3C5D:DFC6:7846:450D (talk) 12:57, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For proper grammar, this line : "On April 10, Paul confirmed that they will be submitting a request to the Texas Combative Sports Program for the bout to sanctioned as a professional bout.[8]"

Should include, "be", such that it reads, "... for the bout to be sanctioned as a professional bout.[8]" CasualLurker (talk) 21:48, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. —Sirdog (talk) 00:56, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
