Clearing needless single episode articles[edit]

Single episode articles do not need to exist for most series. Only certain shows of high regard (Simpsons, Dr. Who), that can have actual information, need them. An episode needs to be capable of having more than just a plot summary; along with a nice, concise plot summary, they need to have at least well sourced development, and reception sections. Examples of this can be found here, here, and in any of the episode articles here. Obviously, they won't just pop up for every episode article, but it is easy to tell that this is very unlikely to happen for this series. I plan on doing this in five days if no concerns are brought up. If they are brought up, I will address them. Nemu 19:33, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really feel like typing that much so if another argument comes up I will go in more detail. These episodes deserve their own article. Wikipedia is a growing set of documents. Season 5?[edit]

Episode notability[edit]

All of the episodes of this series fail the notability guidelines for television episodes. The way for these articles to be improved is through the inclusion of real-world information from reliable sources to assert notability. That is unlikely to happen, and these only have certain bad aspects (though all may not apply) like containing overly long or one sentence plot summaries, trivia, and quotes. Per that, they need to be a small part of this list.

If there are no objections, these will be redirected soon. Otherwise, discussion will take place here. Please remember that this is not a vote. If you like the information, that's fine and dandy, but your opinion doesn't really count towards anything. Merger proposal[edit]

I'm going to ask TTN (who is hopefully watching this page) to not do the merge right now. I'd like to assess the state of the articles. This is done, I've deleted the template and CSD'ed the now-empty category.

I've also converted the article to use the {{Episode list}} template. It's a better template to use, and will make it easier for editors to understand, rather than the generic wikitable. I copied as much of the original episode descriptive text, but there should still be enough room in the short description parameter for additional text. No argument from me. I recently found a few mentions of awards, which would also permit restoring the respective episodes:

1993 Daytime Emmy award for "Outstanding Achievement in Film Sound Editing"
1996 Environmental Media Awards for the episode Zanzibar

Unfortunately, I could not search neither of their databases, and the only references appear to be on IMDB at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106115/awards, and a number of Google hits which would appear to verify this. I'm hesitant to add it directly to the article, because I would prefer to have the official database link rather than IMDB, but it seems that neither of them are directly searchable. I found the Emmy site, so I will see if I can find the stuff... - I found the Camp Lazlo award in the Primetime Awards search but I could not find anything about Rocko in this. If you can find more information, that should be fine, but the current info really isn't enough for a full article. Also, awards help establish notability, but a single sentence cannot hold up an article. Which episode really aired first?[edit]

For the longest time, "No Pain, No Gain/Who Gives a Buck" has been listed as the episode which aired first, on September 18, 1993 (as a special preview on SNICK, the day before it premiered in its regular Sunday slot). However, I specifically remember that "A Sucker for the Suck-O-Matic/Canned" was the episode that aired on SNICK that night. I even had that airing on tape for a long time.

Furthermore, judging by the press reviews before the series' premiere, "A Sucker for the Suck-O-Matic/Canned" seems to have been the episode screened for the press before the premiere. Usually, when an episode of a new series is screened for the press, it's the one which will be the first to air.

Does anybody have recollections of this episode having aired on that SNICK preview broadcast on September 18, 1993? If so, when did "No Pain, No Gain/Who Gives a Buck" originally air?--99.167.195.150 (talk) 20:36, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Suck-o-matic was definitely the first episode to air. I vaguely recall Murray talking about this. The scheduled episode was pulled at the last minute, because execs were concerned it might be too "weird". Unfortunately, Murray's site was hacked a few months back, and a lot of this type of great info was lost. Either that, or I read it in Murray's book, I'll check that when I get a chance.
