Please note that Ganatra directed three episodes of Transparent, and was a consulting producer. She was not a "Producing Director", and no official citation has been put forth to substantiate that.   • @Softlavender - Ganatra is the ONLY director with consulting producer credit - that makes Ganatra the "Producer Director or Producing Director" of the series. The other two credited as Consulting Producers were: An acting coach that Jill Soloway calls her "guru" and a filmmaker who seems to have produced Jill Soloway's first feature film. The term accepted in the industry when the director directs scenes from all episodes but is only credited as the director on some episodes is "the Producer Director of the series" it is substantially more significant than what is on this page. By not citing the proper job title or parsing it out as you have - it is misleading and not representative of the amount of work that was done credited and uncredited on the series. By stating Nisha Ganatra directed 3 episodes of the first season, it does not accurately reflect her contributions as director to the ENTIRE series. Please consider this as you keep deleting my efforts to make the description more accurate.   • PollyNYC, neither of those sources are WP:RS. The fact is that Ganatra is credited with directing three episodes of Transparent, and she is one of three consulting producers of the first season of Transparent. Wikipedia must go by official onscreen credits and/or the studio's official website for the series, not by what the subject claims or what non-WP:RS sources state. The onscreen credits (checkable here [1], which is also the studio's official website for the show) list Ganatra as director on episodes 4, 5, and 9. She is listed as one of the consulting producers on episodes 2–10 (along with other consulting producers and half a dozen or so other producers on each episode). It shows it on the IMDB and also on the onscreen credits of Episode 1 on Amazon Prime http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3502262/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm. I appreciate how thorough and what a solid contributor you are - but I do not understand why there is such stubbornness on this correction. Your information is not correct - even by your own sources that you site as being correct. it is very confusing. You state "the fact is…" and ignore all attempts to educate you as to what it means when the sole director of the entire series (aside from the creator of the show) is also credited as a producer - that type of credit is an indicator - in fact is the only indicator that they are the producer director of the series and it means they directed more than the onscreen credit for the episode they directed entirely on their own (which would be the 3 onscreen credits) PollyNYC (talk) 06:02, 9 October 2016 (UTC)PollyNYC[reply]
PollyNYC all we need are reliable sources that state the "producer director" credit you are requesting be added. You have good sources, or you don't. If you don't have sources, there is no point discussing this further. IMDB is WP:SPS so not reliable; I am unsure why Softlavender brought it up but there is no point discussing it.. btw, i don't believe the practice you describe should be allowed; I don't think "it is sourced over in some other article" is OK for anything in WP. I want to highlight the success of Ganatra's Chutney Popcorn and Cosmopolitan, as well as talk about her influence in the LGTBQ+ community. Further, I think more modern updates on what Ganatra is up to nowadays would be interesting too, especially since there is no mention (yet) of her getting on board with Late Night. Adding a career section to make a structure for the page.

Nisha Ganatra's Careers include, actress, film maker, film producer, and screenwriter. Much of Ganatra's work whether she is filming or acting, deals with representing lesbian stories that are dismissed in queer cinema canon.Early in Nisha Ganatra's career, she proceeded to engage in acting classes. Years later, Ganatra shifted towards screenwriting classes at UCLA. Her career began with roles in featured films. Later on, Ganatra took a shift in films and started producing her own. Her first feature film is Chuntney Popcorn (1999). The film is written, and directed by Ganatra, as well as her maintaining the lead role in the film. The film is about a young Indian lesbian (Reena) residing in New York. Her married sister learns that she is infertile and Reena offers to be a surrogate for her sister. Later on, Ganatra proceeded to direct many episodes of MTV's The Real World, the film Cake, plus the films Cosmopolitan. Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page). Overall, there is a lot of good information presented here about Nisha Ganatra. Adding a career and early life section really helped to give more structure to the article. For areas to improve I would try to flesh out the information you've provided here. For example in the lead it is mentioned that she worked on Transparent and it received a Golden Globe, but then this information is completely absent from the career section. Additionally, in the career section it briefly mentions that at this time she wrote and directed Chutney Popcorn, but does not go into any further detail about this fact, like how she was also the lead actress. Lastly, I found it interesting that previous edits reference that she is of Indian decent but you removed that detail in your final version of the article? Is there a reason for this? Otherwise, it seems like an attempt to hide her race despite the fact that it has influence much of her work. AliceCullen4354 (talk) 21:08, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
