This seems to be "normal"[edit]

Paraphrenia seems to describe the behaviour of everyone i've ever observed for more than 5 minutes. Surely the diagnosis must be one of degree since probably everyone engages in this behaviour to some extent or another. 121.73.7.84 (talk) 13:40, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very vague definition[edit]

This is incredibly vague, after reading the article I am left no closer to understanding what it is, except that it's distinct from paranoia and schizophrenia and has something to do with delusions. Can someone provide a clear, precise definition of this as the first sentence? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.44.200.19 (talk) 15:29, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I second this - what is it? It seems to not be two other things I didn't think it was. Very helpful :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.114.214.144 (talk) 13:01, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Current thinking[edit]

One line of thought is that 'paraphrenia' is basically a psychotic illness (e.g. schizophrenia). The differences (e.g. preservation of personality) are simply due to the fact that the psychosis starts later, and so the person's personality has already formed (v.s Schizophrenia which often starts early, and therefore disrupts personality development). I don't have a specific reference for this but might look for one at some point! Buckethed (talk) 03:43, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
