Ichthyotoxin[edit]

@Elmidae would not the toxin this fish produces be an ichthyotoxin because, "Ichthyotoxins are compounds which are either toxic to fish or are toxins produced by fish." would this fishes secretion's not fall into this category? I really am not sure, because I want to believe you (your much more qualified then me!) but im confused. Realfakebezalbob (talk) 20:00, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. I'm a bit surprised our article includes "produced by fish" - to my mind this applies only to substances toxic to fish, mostly produced by algae. General lit use seems to bear that out [1] but then general dictionaries use it primarily the other way round [2]. Meh. Yeah, probably correct to use the term here then. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 08:12, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I found this source saying the soles poison is an ichthyotoxin, also would it still be used against fish ie sharks and other predatory fish. I am a little confused; gotta love ichthyology with all their rules and exceptions!Realfakebezalbob (talk) 13:55, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I’m just going to revert the edit and add the source, feel free to revert and talk about it more! Realfakebezalbob (talk) 18:47, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
