Greek[edit]

Should the Greek word pais be παῖς rather than παίδ? I don't have the cited references to check. Certes (talk) 11:00, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

When citing a Greek or Latin noun, it is customary to list both the nominative singular and the genitive singular (in this case pais and paidos) and the gender. This is because dictionaries will list it under the n.s. pais, but the form taken on by other languages comes from the stem, here paid-, which is fully revealed only by the g.s. paidos.
