Acting

The entry reads: "Gomez began her acting career at age seven, playing Gianna on Barney & Friends. She said that she learned "everything" about how to act while on the show." IMO if someone wants to damn her this way fine, but a source should at least be cited. Edit request from Saadboy17, 16 December 2010

isn't selena gomez starring in the film, "What Boys Want". I know it was on the "Film" section of Gomez but it got removed. I understand the fact that there is no actual proof whether she plays "Beth Michaels" in "The Seven Rays" however she herself announced some times of her role in What Boys Want including the fact that Gomez's mother, Mandy will be doing something backstage.http://www.popcrunch.com/selena-gomez-what-boys-want-movie/

Justin Bieber

In the "Personal life" section, where it talks about the death threats, Bieber's name is incorrectly spelled B-E-I-B-E-R when it's actually B-I-E-B-E-R. Someone please fix this.

Shake it Up 2010

"Shake it Up" needs to be added to her list of songs because she sings the theme song for the show.

Selena Gomez's was born in New York City, not Grand Praire, Texas. She moved their as a baby an refers to Grand Praire as her hometown.

Expanding on that: with limited exceptions, such as film cast lists, IMDB, is not considered a reliable source. Accordingly, there would need to be other sources than IMDB—reliable and newer than the one currently cited in the article—supporting her birth in NYC before it could be mentioned in the article. —C.Fred (talk) 15:47, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Half-Italian

[1] The "early life" section says her mother is "half-Italian". The two sources currently attached to this phrase say "a Texas native who is of Mexican and Italian heritage" (NYDN) and the other says "my mom is Italian" (showbizcafe video @ 0:35). The "half-Italian" phrase was originally sourced mainly to an article from the Fresno Bee (see Talk:Selena_Gomez/Archive_1#She.27s_Mexican). (Later it was sourced to PhilStar, but that's dated 2009, long after the content was in the Wiki article, so it may be circular.) Neither seem to be used now. I have no idea why the Fresno Bee article was removed; it certainly couldn't have been because it went dead, because it's readily available in archive [2] even now. But if the article isn't using sources to support the phrase, then the phrase shouldn't be there. Perhaps something less specific: "she has Italian ancestry on her mother's side"? Gimmetoo (talk) 04:51, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Well the name Selena Gomez isn't Italian at all. When you think of Selena Gomez, you think Latin American, probably Mexican too. She is technically 3/4th Mexican and 1/4th Italian. Although she seems to not really have a connection with her Italian side. She is into her Mexican side more. I need sources to support this I know, but it DOES seem that she is more with her Mexican side considering she is learning Spanish not Italian, and was named after Mexican-American icon signer Selena. Ultraman X77 (talk) 22:53, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Some weeks ago, I pointed out that the article currently does not have a source supporting "half-Italian". I pointed out the sources that used to be there. Either sources need to be added, or the info removed. Gimmetoo (talk) 21:27, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Arguably, Gomez and Bieber dating is significant enough to mention in the article—and sufficiently documented in reliable sources. However, other articles exist, and just because similar details are in the articles for Lovato or Cyrus is not reason to include them in this article. There's also been significant discussion of this issue at Talk:Justin Bieber, where there has been strong opposition to mentioning it.
Regarding the stalker, again, there would have to be enough coverage in reliable sources for it to be a significant event, and it would have to be significant in the overall picture of her life. Gomez is probably neither the first nor the last celebrity to get a restraining order against a stalker. —C.Fred (talk) 14:50, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

The romantic life of teenagers usually isn't considered important enough to add to articles. I probably wouldn't remove a brief mention myself, but many editors would.—Kww(talk) 12:16, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
In general, I would agree that information on the romantic life of teenagers is to trivial to add. In this case, though, the relationship is pretty high profile and has attracted considerable press coverage.(Daily Mail, Christian Post, Daily Mail, Fox News, The Mirror, Vancouver Sun, MTV, CBS News, and hundreds more.) I think, at present, the omission is glaring. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:04, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Frankly I am not sure how it could be added without it appearing as a trivial mention in a "Personal life" section or the like. So far the relationship doesnt seem to have had an impact on the notable aspect of the person, her career.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 14:27, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
It's the major source of her press coverage in reliable sources. Such relationships (whether genuine or marketing driven) press her notability well beyond what it would be without it. Put actors from two shows on the same network together and it's yawn worthy. An actor from a tween/teen show with a tween/teen pop singer, though, and the press lights up, as I've noted above. Compare the sources currently in the article: one People article, an article in Oakland Tribune and a pile of mentions of "she'll be in this, that or the other thing" and "she won this, that or the other award". In terms of a biography, though, there isn't much, until we start adding The Mirror, CBS News, MTV and the like with articles about her. The shear volume of coverage in major, reliable sources makes me wonder why we wouldn't mention this. (It sure as hell isn't a privacy issue or for want of sources.) - SummerPhD (talk) 15:13, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
TriiipleThreat, I think you are using a different definition of the word "trivial" than is commonly accepted. There is nothing "trivial" about the relationship between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, and the fact that it does not appear in this article is incredibly strange. Viriditas (talk) 23:45, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

For the BBC, being Justin Bieber's girlfriend is the only thing noteworthy about her: Justin Bieber´s girlfriend `nervous´ about show---88.73.2.147 (talk) 00:53, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

That isn't how we use sources. That "source" isn't about Bieber or Gomez, it's about the MTV Europe Music Awards. If you are insinuating that we don't have good sources about their relationship, then I suggest you do some research. There is no good reason why it isn't described in this article. Viriditas (talk) 03:57, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

I don't really understand how things are added in articles that are like this one - or how this "discussion" works. But I would like to say - that Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez dating is something I would come to Wikipedia for to look up. They seem to have been dating a while, which even for young people would constitute some form of "significant other". In fact came on here just now to see if her article had anything about dating him, I was disappointed not to see anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.234.222.217 (talk) 11:28, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

>> To respond to 151.55.237.79 above, I agree that "usually" the personal life of a person as a teenager is not that important, but that tends to be in hindsight. The beauty of wikipedia is that each entry is a living document. A notable fact now, may merit inclusion, that later may be appropriate to take out as sum of facts about their life continue to change. The account of both Beiber and Gomez is life is far from over obviously, but their current relationship status should be included as it meets Wikipedia's definition of notability: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philip.Holdsworth (talkcontribs) 05:32, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

I think it should be added. The two have been dating for over 6 months and it doesn't matter that they're teenagers. A lot of articles about actors and singers include their relationships, which have started when they were in their teens (Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas, Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, Juliette Lewis and Brad Pitt, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Tatum O'Neal and Michael Jackson, Brooke Shields and Mohammed Khashoggi and so on and so on). So I really do think this should be included and because we have a reliable source, I don't really see why this has to be discussed. And I do think that's important because for the last 6 months every second news article, related to one of them, is about this relationship.--Renesemee (talk) 18:13, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
this is RIDICULOUS. are people really fighting about this??? selena/justin are the BIGGEST couple right now. I think they've almost surpassed Bradgelina! even taylor swift as a tiny sentance about her FLING with John Mayor. Why is this an argument? it's definately note-worthy. --TaylorLanebore me 01:59, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Seeing that Bieber is an internationally famous singer and Gomez is pretty darn famous as well and they've been dating for over a year I'm glad it's finally in the article. For the record I've just added some info into the Bieber article. Cls14 (talk) 00:07, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Ancestry

I found that her mother is of English (through Cornett, Harris, etc.), German (through Spangler), French (through Voirin), and Cherokee (through Brock) descent aside of Italian descent. Please, research and prove further to edit and cite the article of Selena Gomez though all of them are reliable. 112.206.171.184 (talk) 07:59, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Here's what I've found on her mother's ancestry:

Sources: Familypedia and Ancestry.com. Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997 (database on-line). Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2005. Original data: Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997. Texas: Texas Department of State Health Services. Microfiche.

112.206.171.184 (talk) 08:08, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

The health records are not reliable sources; legal documents, which birth records would be, are frowned upon for use in articles. Familypedia is not reliable. That just leaves Ancestry.com. —C.Fred (talk) 13:52, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for bring this up, I could use the help. I had been working on Selena's ancestry at Familypedia. Her character in Wizards is of Italian decent, but I do not see anywhere in the reference that even suggests that she has Italian ancestry on her mother's side. I have been trying to remove it, but it keeps getting readded, so I am searching for sources that will confirm her mother's true ancestry. There are several indications on several sources that Selena's parents are indeed Ricardo Gomez and Mandy Cornett (which the article does mention). Also, her stepfather Brian Teefey (also mentioned in the article). There are photos attached to articles like here here and here that show her family, some are reliable, some not considered reliable, but they all point to Mandy Cornett Gomez Teefey as her mother, we do have plenty of sources for this. The next step, the Texas Birth Index lists Mandy Dawn Cornett as daughter of David Cornett and Debbie Gibson. Also, Public records link Mandy Teefey to David and Debbie Cornett (some are reliable, some are not, but they do link them). Also, David and Debbie are listed on Texas Birth records, which reveal Selena's maternal great grandparents (as listed in the above pedigree. Of course, the Texas Birth Index is the only source I so far can link David and Debbie Cornett to their parents. More reliable confirmation requires sources other than the Texas Birth Index. So, currently the sources only confirm back to Selena's maternal grandparents, David and Debbie Cornett, and there is absolutely no source that gives an indication that either maternal grandparent are of Italian descent. I am still working on finding more reliable sources, but the alleged "source" on the article that claims that Selena has "Italian" ancestry on her mother's side does not even mention such a thing. I stopped removing it because I did not want to get into an Edit War, so I am working on finding reliable sources to the contrary. For those who still consider Selena as having Italian ancestry, please find a source, or let point me to where this information came from, because I believe such information to be inaccurate. — AMK152 (tc) 03:19, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Selena Picture

Can you please change the main picture... it is outdated (since 2009). Can you put up a more recent picture (from 2011 or 2012). It would be much appreciated by me and everyone looking at this page. thanks :)

Niyavacivaci (talk) 04:27, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

The main picture is the best free picture available. There is a newer picture further down in the article, but it doesn't show her face as clearly, whereas the picture in the infobox is a good medium close-up.
I emphasize that it's the best free picture available. There are probably hundreds of newer pictures available of Gomez, but they're taken by professional photographers or otherwise available under all-rights-reserved licenses. To use the picture in the Wikipedia article, the photographer must explicitly give the picture away. This is hard with professional photographs but very easy when a Wikipedian takes a picture at a public appearance. —C.Fred (talk) 13:42, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Niyavacivaci. That picture is kinda old and there are some newer pics of her. What's wrong with this one?--Renesemee (talk) 16:33, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Songs

Why does the "music videos" , "albums" and "singles" section not have all(every single one)she made. It used to say all the (her) music videos she has been in. All her singles were labeled. Now its all gone....... None of her songs (i.e who says , love you like a love song, a year without rain, naturally, round and round .......)are even mentioned in her wikipedia page.

The latest music video it shows thats shes been in was in 2009.. you need to add all her music videos made up to 2012. None of her popular (well know) singles are even mentioned.

Please re add these music video and singles. It will be most appriciated. :) Niyavacivaci (talk) 03:33, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Private Parts??

In the personal life and Image settion there is this sentence: "Wax statues of Gomez are on display at Madame Tussauds wax museums in New York[101], London[102], Washington D.C[103] and Hollywood. In addition, controversial sculptor Daniel Edwards has created a statue depicting Gomez with boyfriend Justin Bieber, conjoined by the torso, nude, with only coverings on their private parts"

Edit Humanitarian section

Doing commercials for Borden Milk, Disney etc. is not being a humanitarian. I do not think that Ms. Gomez has a sufficient record of giving to various causes (rather than profiting from them) to warrant the title. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.59.230.146 (talk) 02:49, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

I would like to second 129.59.230.146's comment. Most of her charity is through Disney who probably requires it to have a good image. Selena Gomez Picture Change

I changed the Selena Gomez infobox picture to a more recent and nicer picture. The picture before that wasn't really nice. CPGirlAJ (talk) 02:37, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the image you chose was a copyright violation of http://www.wireimage.com/celebrity-pictures/Selena-Gomez-attends-the-5th-Annual-Women-In-Film-Pre-Oscar-Party-at/139781039 that had been illegally uploaded to Flickr.—Kww(talk) 03:30, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
It was? I didn't know, they said it wasn't, but it is. You never know if an image is a copyright violation or not. CPGirlAJ (talk) 01:53, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I uploaded another great image of Selena Gomez, I hope this one is not a copyright violation. CPGirlAJ (talk) 01:55, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
It appears that the new image that you uploaded may have been deleted, as I can't find it. It's very easy in most cases to determine whether or not an image is copyrighted. A Google image search usually brings up violations quickly. Given that you've already been blocked on Commons and have had at least 16 images deleted, it's probably a good step for you. --AussieLegend () 07:57, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I do upload images that say "some rights reserved", but it turns out it is a copyright violation. So it isn't my fault. CPGirlAJ (talk) 21:49, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
When you find a completely random set of professional looking photographs posted under an anonymous username on Flickr, you can bet it's a copyright violation.—Kww(talk) 05:53, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
Even though they may say "some rights reserved", you really need to check the license as I suggested. If you don't do that, it is your fault. --AussieLegend () 07:50, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

I did not take any of the photo's myself, as I have never seen her in person. I appreciate your concern. The fact of the matter is that on Wikipedia, we are constrained to use only freely licensed images of living people such as Gomez. That means that some Wikipedia contributor has agreed to give up full copyright control of an image and license it by Creative Commons CC-BY-SA or similar terms. There do exist some more recent photos of Gomez already uploaded to Wikimedia Commons here, but in my opinion the later photos are not usable because they are concert action shots and are either far away or her face is obscured by a microphone. The current photo is attractive and of high quality, to me, the only drawback is its age compared to Gomez's youth and changing image. Your best bet is to convince a generous photographer to capture her in a recent event and obtain a high-quality image that can be licensed according to terms that are agreeable to Wikipedia's policies. You are more than welcome to do this yourself, if you have the means. But otherwise we must wait for one to come in, we are unable to simply grab one from the Internet, because those are all copyrighted. Elizium23 (talk) 20:46, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
The previous picture was too old, dating back to 2009. The most recent and appropriate picture I updated with is from 2010.--Bluescarred (talk) 22:03, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I disagree (hence the reason for consensus). The newer one is too dark, and the caption says that she's performing -- doesn't look like it to me. Plus it is only a year more recent. But, of course, I will wait for a reply. --Musdan77 (talk) 23:50, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

But it's recent. And that's the trade-off, especially with a young star: do we go for a "quality" picture (which is a subjective evaluation), or do we go for a "recent" picture (objective)? —C.Fred (talk) 01:20, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
I almost changed the image, before seeing that there was serious debate here. I would fully support showing a more recent image that didn't look "nice" if it actually reflected her current appearance. Often, the most recent images of people are the least flattering, as the person simply looks worse than they used it. But, that's what's suitable for an objective article. But, in this case, the image is unflattering due to the circumstances of how it was taken. File:Selena Gomez TIFF 2012.jpg was shot from back behind other people, and by cropping to just her, it's blown up to much, looking blurry. If we had no other photos of her, than I would say we should use a less cropped version of it[4] (despite the distractions). But, we have several high quality images. Also, she's a performer, so showing her performing would actually illustrate what she is notable for. --Rob (talk) 03:36, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

File:Selena Gomez December 2010 2.jpg is sufficiently recent. Insisting that something be as recent than File:Selena Gomez TIFF 2012.jpg is unreasonable. Even if we got a good shot taken yesterday, I'm sure there would soon be another crappy shot taken another day after. We're not obliged to use whatever the most recent image is, just because it is most recent. If we did, the image of of the US president would change every day. A couple years is not that big of deal. We should have some degree of quality standards. Having any quality standards means that we won't always use the very most recent image. We should look over images of the last few years, and take the best one. Is anybody seriously suggesting that File:Selena Gomez TIFF 2012.jpg better reflects her current appearance? Wikipedia is not like a celebrity magazine that has to publish the latest photo of celebs on its cover just to be current. Finally, if we must keep this crappy 2012 photo, can we please de-crop it, to have a more respectful wider shot and/or reduce the resolution shown, so as to avoid the "blow up" effect which looks so awful. --Rob (talk) 07:03, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

I agree --Whatever318 (talk) 03:36, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
She doesn't look like she's performing in that picture, she actually looks a little spaced-out. It's really not a good face shot. --AussieLegend () 10:13, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I think she looks fine in File:Selena Gomez December 2010 2.jpg. The main flaw with it, is that you see a guy's face behind her head, which is distracting. There are multiple images Commons:Category:Selena Gomez that I would consider acceptable. The main reason I picked what I did, was that it wasn't already used in the article. So, we could remove the image I added, and then relocate another image in the body of the article, up to the infobox. For example, File:Selena Gomez December 2010.jpg looks pretty good. --Rob (talk) 13:19, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I agree. The current main picture is very unflattering. It should be changed to the December 2010 picture, she looks much better there. ArianaGrandeForever (talk) 10:03, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Picture....

Whoa whoa whoa...who changed the picture??? I thought we all agreed on File:Selena Gomez December 2010 2.jpg, the pic we have now I think is just unusable period...it definitely be changed again. Whatever318 (talk) 14:10, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

You mean the photo where she looks spaced out? That seems to be opposed and there was never any WP:CONSENSUS to use it. --AussieLegend () 05:48, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Last time i checked there was consensus on it and if you don't like that one we could just use File:Selena Gomez December 2010.jpg, the image we have now shouldn't of even been uploaded in the first place. Whatever318 (talk) 04:18, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

Oh For Go's sake I don't care what pic we use but that one we have now it's so bad so no. Please change it again — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.27.112.252 (talk) 11:53, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

New Image of Selena Gomez in UNICEF Snowflake Ball 2012 in New York City

I think you could replace the picture in infobox with that picture. These images better. --2.89.155.208 (talk) 23:02, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Why did not have changed the picture infobox ? Is there an error in these pictures. --2.89.155.208 (talk) 13:54, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Personal Life Edit Phrasing of Words

Could we revise this section: "However, it was reported twelve days later that the couple had gotten back together after Bieber begged Gomez for forgiveness. However, they broke up for good around New Year's 2013." and change to: "However, it was reported twelve days later that the couple had gotten back together after Bieber begged Gomez for forgiveness. At the beginning of the year 2013, the couple broke up for good." So as to not use the word "however" repeatedly. Thanks MissFeFe808 (talk) 11:14, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Concensus was to create a discography article

Hello! I think Selena Gomez needs a discography page because there's some releases she got. I thinked about the idea of separating the Disney discography of her new solo career. I don't want to be banned so i need help for this. Thanks! Headstrong4ever (talk) 19:46, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

  • Support Looks like a good idea, article is looking unbalanced now. I added split proposal to article for other comments. Need to follow rules described in articles WP:SPLIT and WP:CWW when this is done. Minimally need edit summaries in both pages explained what was done. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:04, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Support I agree, it is a good idea if we split the discography to another article. It would also match other people/groups that have discography articles. Haseo9999 (talk) 21:21, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Support I think this is a really good idea, since she'll be releasing her new album this summer. She needs her own discography page. ★♛iluvselenagomez1234♛★ 00:21, 25 March 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iluvselenagomez1234 (talkcontribs)
  • Support I think it's a good idea too, she will release a solo album and many singles, so, she need a discography for her solo career. --AleeDear (talk) 17:33, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Support I think this is a good idea. The solo discography is different from the discography with The Scene.--Stephanie J Stone (talk) 18:05, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

Gomez's ancestry

Can User:Geelove13 explain why they keep making this change to the article, with no discussion or explanation? All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 21:53, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Her mom is FULL italian descent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geelove13 (talkcontribs) 23:28, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

What do the references say? --Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:34, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Gomez is of "Mexican and Italian heritage" per the New York Daily News.[5]
Fresno Bee is paywalled, so I can't validate what is in that source.
Gomez says "My mom's Italian" in the ShowBizCafe interview,[6]
The fourth source is silent on the issue.
I don't see anything about degree of Italian-ness in any of the readily verifiable sources, to support either assertion of her mom being partially Italian or fully Italian. —C.Fred (talk) 23:53, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Why do you say the Fresno Bee is paywalled? I swear I don't subscribe to anything to do with it, and I can see it. It is archived at this link. It dates back to July 28, 2008, and it says, "Because Gomez's father is from Mexico, she has been able to attend many family quinceñeras. But the actress, whose mother is half-Italian, did not have her own. That has not stopped her from enjoying others.". This newspaper was not copying Wikipedia, because (and anyone correct me if I'm wrong), Gomez having Italian ancestry was not added to the article until August 8, 2008. On August 28, 2008, an editor specified that her mother is "of half Italian ancestry", using the Fresno Bee as a source; that editor, as it turns out, was me. This statement has been in the article fairly uncontroversially since that day, until Ashleyhudgens (aka Geelove13) started removing it. Since we still have the reference, and there's no new information on the matter (other than Gomez's mother being adopted), is there a reason to change this now? All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 00:20, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Because I'm getting a message that the archive link is not valid, so Wayback Machine is sending me to the live web, and the Fresno Bee has old stories archived for subscribers only. Something in the Wayback Machine is not playing nice with my browser, apparently. I'll go with your access to it and the quote you've got there. —C.Fred (talk) 00:25, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
I'm getting the same thing, and I've tried using multiple ISP's, multiple computers, both crApple and Android tablets, IE8, Firefox (both PC and tablet versions), Safari, Mercury and Google Chrome. --AussieLegend () 00:48, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Same here. I suspect that All Hallow's Wraith has a Fresno Bee account and just isn't noticing that he's being redirected. I've blocked Geelover13 for block evasion, BTW, so I wouldn't expect her to pop up and edit any time soon.—Kww(talk) 00:52, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Well, if I have a Fresno Bee account, I'm certainly not paying them anything, and it says "Subscribe to The Bee" at the top of my page. Perhaps I'm not being re-directed because I have my Javascript turned off? I knew it had more benefits than drawbacks. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 01:06, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, that's it. If you can still turn off your Javascript, turn it off, and click on the link. It won't take you anywhere else. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 01:12, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Java script is the problem. Try this link http://www.webcitation.org/6Fdmh7v27 a bit of a kludge but it does capture the content. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:19, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Artistry

I think that the comment on auto-tuned needs to be removed because it's just someone's opinion! you could just put in another one contrasting that! And comparing her to Demi Lovato, has nothing to do with it! The comment was rude!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sccon (talkcontribs) 05:30, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

As disturbing as it is to use the word "artistry" in conjunction with Selena Gomez, I removed the statement because it wasn't appropriately sourced, nor is there evidence that the quoted person is a recognized authority.—Kww(talk) 05:48, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

History with Taylor Lautner

Yes, they very well could have dated, but People has become more tabloid over the years, though better than many sources. Also, their "facts" about Selena and Taylor seem dubious. Again, I am not saying these two have not dated, but, like what was done with Justin Bieber, maybe Taylor Lautner should be left out, or be written about in a more neutral fashion until/if Selena says "Yes, I did date Taylor". Just my two cents.76.221.158.199 (talk) 07:47, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

cornrows

Shall we mention that she looks sexy with her new cornrow hair style?--88.111.123.67 (talk) 19:54, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

No on two counts. First, a change in hairstyle is too passing to be encyclopedic. Second, we wouldn't mention it unless multiple secondary sources had written about it. —C.Fred (talk) 19:56, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
If fulfills the 2nd condition can it be included? --88.111.123.67 (talk) 20:00, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Edit request on 18 August 2013

Personal Life In 2011 Selena gained publicity when it was confirmed she was in a relationship with teenage pop star http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Bieber. In early November 2012, it was reported Bieber and Gomez had ended their relationship after approximately two years of dating.[120][121] The couple reconciled later that month.[122] However, in January 2013, it was reported that they had broken up again.[

I'm not certain where you cut-and-pasted this from, but no, we won't paste things from unknown sources into the article without permission.—Kww(talk) 00:00, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Bloated and poorly organized

This article is far too bloated. The lead, for example, should be a concise statement about who she is and what she's known for, yet it is practically a full article on its own. The rest of the article is padded with unnecessary quotes and organized in such a manner that personal life and career are combined into one long narrative. In all likelihood, a lot of this information could be pared down or removed, but I am not an authority on Gomez, so I cannot comment as to which information that would be. 173.75.242.172 (talk) 00:42, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
