Boats vs. Ships

It should be noted that submarines are referred to as "boats" and not as "ships" making the Nathan James the true last ship.Chronoso 05:39, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Link to Ivan Turgenev?

Hmm, I know it wasn't a huge part of the book, but since there was several times that Turgenev was referenced, it should at least be a link in this article. However, I couldn't really find a good spot. Comments welcome -- MrDolomite | Talk 09:31, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't think it would work well. The plot summary's bit long as is. On another note, I'm surprised that there's no mention of the French ship the protagonists encounter early on in the book. Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 07:28, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Image:WilliamBrinkley TheLastShip.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Plot summary length

I disagree with the tagline saying the plot summary is too long. As a non-biased, simple Wikipedia reader who was looking for information about this book, I felt the length of the summary is perfect. Can we remove the warning and stop watering down Wikipedia? 15 June 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.212.210.116 (talk) 17:42, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Agreed. However, to make the plot summary shorter, I have moved some of it to a separate section. Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 08:32, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Chapter titles

The chapter titles were all wrong. First of all, the novel is divided into books first, not 8 chapters. The titles were wrong and misnumbered. I don't know which parts of the plot go with which book, so I just deleted the titles, which are unnecessary, anyway. --Nike (talk) 23:04, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Television adaptation section needs a rewrite

This has two segments talking about ships where this is filmed, one naming one real ship, the other naming two. It's also outdated, as season 2 of this series is nearly complete. It would probably make sense to work on the TV show's main article, if needed, the rewrite this section as a new summary of that article.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  15:16, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
