Apparently founded in the USA, so where is the information about their American business and what happened to it? 91.84.71.131 (talk) 17:28, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is still an unresolved question nearly five years on. The [Wickes website](https://www.wickes.co.uk/companyhistory) glosses over this part of their history in equally confusing fashion, stating that Wicks as we know it today grew out of the American housing boom in the 50s. [Travis Perkins'](https://www.travisperkinsplc.co.uk/our-businesses/businesses/wickes.aspx) website however, states that Wickes began in the 70s in the UK. Neither explains what links the American shop of 1850 to the British chain of today. I can only guess that this whole issue is too boring for anybody to care about, but it's given me something to Google on Ecosia whilst I wait for an egg to boil. M.T.S.W.A.
