Untitled[edit]

No attempt at an editing war here. The edition of Mutual Banking online at the Portal is the 1974 reprint of a 1946 edition published in India. It most closely resembles the 1927 Mutual Banking contained in Proudhon's Solution of the Social Problem (Vanguard Press), and is ultimately derived from Greene's final 1871 edition. The 1946 and 1974 editions include material written by the Indian editors. The original quotation in this entry was from that non-Greene material (although it's certainly in the correct spirit.) My most recent bibliographical essay on the mutual bank writings is at http://libertarian-labyrinth.blogspot.com/2005/12/william-b-greenes-1850-mutual-banking.html. Bibliographic issues[edit]

As I mentioned above, the various editions of the mutual bank writings are very different, and should not be confused. I have slightly updated and clarified the bibliographic account previously linked. The essays on transcendentalism have a similarly convoluted history. I'll add a link to The Blazing Star, which contains Greene's final version of "Transcendentalism." Libertatia 18:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
