While there does seem to be some confusion and conflicting dates in power, it is hoped that more research will result in better, improved articles about these leaders. William V of ProvenceWilliam III of Provence – Incorrect numbering Jasgray04 (talk) 21:33, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The counts of Provence in this era are quite confusing and are articles are not much help. Florian Mazel, for example, numbers this one William IV and our William II as William III ("Les comtes, les grands et l'église en Provence autour de l'an mil"). Srnec (talk) 00:33, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The Histoire generale de Languedoc, vol. 4, p. 61, calls him Guillaume III and it certainly makes more sense than the current title. Srnec (talk) 03:57, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I know it is not an external source but the French Wikipedia does refer to him as Guillaume III rather than Guillaume V. I don’t know how it work, but I do find it slightly contradictory, and the French Wikipedia is probably more reliable than the English Wikipedia when it comes to French Noblemen. https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillaume_III_de_Provence Jasgray04 (talk)
