Province of Agrigento[edit]

  • ... that about three fourth of Sicilian Fiano vineyards are in the Province of Agrigento?
    • ALT1 ... that while commenting on Mafia clans in the Province of Agrigento, an Italian judge said "it studies and plans crime with a scientific perfection."?

5x expanded by Skr15081997 (talk). Self nominated at 11:25, 19 September 2014 (UTC).

Hooks are interesting but the page used to cite the "three fourths" statement are not viewable (pages 8 - 178). -- ALT1: Page number used to cite the "...plans crime as a scientific perfection." are not viewable. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 17:19, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Gwillhickers I am able to view both the pages. You can AGF on the sources since they are not viewable to you.--Skr15081997 (talk) 09:15, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
I have no reason to doubt the sources used and I am willing to assume good faith, but I'm not sure if doing so will be challenged by another editor. As an accomplished DYK promoter I'm sure you realize some editors can be on the strict side when it comes to reviewing and passing DYK nom's. Perhaps if you could just copy/paste the two sentences used as cites, with page numbers, that would be good enough for me and I'm sure most other reviewers. We can assume good faith (at least I will) on all the other sources not used for the hook.-- Gwillhickers (talk) 17:18, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
  • "The farmers of Settesoli, another early adopter, grow about 70 percent of Sicily's Fiano. Vineyards in the provinces of Agrigento and Trapani account for about 75 and 20 percent, respectively, of Sicily's 250 hectares (618 acres) of Fiano." source for 1st hook Page=95
"Agrigento's type of criminality," an Italian judge said of the local mafia clans, "is a form of almost scientific crime, especially if compared to the Mafia in Palermo. The latter is vulgar because it doesn't think twice about shooting in a public street; it acts on impulse. The one from the Province of Agrigento is sophisticated: it studies and plans crime with a scientific perfection." source for 2nd hook. Page=34
  • Gwillhickers Copy/paste wasn't possible from Google Books. I have typed the above two statements. I hope they would suffice. Thanks.--Skr15081997 (talk) 09:28, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
-- Hook lengths okay. (recommend using hook about provience / grapes -- much more interesting than a judge's comment on the mafia and reflects more accurately on Agrigento as a whole, imo.) Article (text) expanded 5x. AGF on citations for hook, now that nominator has copied relevant passages and shown possession of sources in question (and shown good faith). No dup or disambig' links. No close paraphrasing. Article could be a bit larger, but is good to go for DYK. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 15:01, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
