FOP Season split[edit]

Hey Bill, I've just got a message from you about the FOP season articles. I just wanted to say that I split all 6 (and OYC season) because the Episode List was getting too big. So I just wanted to expand it. But then, when I figured out that there is no season 7 yet, I had to moved them all and do some serious, and painful, contributions. I guess I understand what I did wrong. I'll make sure to do the "move" tab next time. Thanks --Wikialexdx (talk) 00:40, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your reason behind creating the season articles is fine (and a good idea), and cutting and pasting it is ok when you're doing that. You just need to use an edit summary that says where you're splitting the information from/to. Use the move tab for moving entire articles to a new name. PROD Removal[edit]

Hello, you recently removed a PROD from an article about the album Soda Pop-Rip Off and replaced it with a {{refimprove}} tag which was similar to the {{notability}} tag that was placed on October 12, 2008 removed on October 24, 2008. Please read Talk:Soda Pop-Rip Off for details and discussion. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 18:50, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Simpsons covers[edit]

It violated WP:NFC. If you want to discuss the head boxes, then write an article or section of an article to discuss them. Just using them to decorate is not acceptable. It's possible that the head boxes could warrant their own article. See for example Campbell's Soup Cans. But, the use as it was used is improper and not allowed. --Hammersoft (talk) 00:05, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The head box is mentioned in the article in 2 places. One in the lead and one in the DVD release section. It is not simply used for decoration. As it is used along side a description and aids the understanding of the design significantly then this makes its use acceptable under a claim of fair use. I've removed plenty of purely decorative images in the past because they violate WP:NFC, but this is not one of them because of the unique design elements which are helped by an image when describing them. Ignore the fact that the image was arranged in a table because this is just organisation of information. I suggest you reconsider your position on this particular image. Bill (talk|contribs) 00:15, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Then by all means put it inline in the appropriate location in the text. Putting it in with the DVD box is simple decoration. We simply don't allow fair use covers in X-graphies, and this is a blatant violation. --Hammersoft (talk) 01:31, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As you have probably noticed, Scorpion0422 and I have readded the images based on your comment about the position. Personally I don't see what difference it makes with the image inside or outside of the table as it is in the same section about the DVD release. I don't believe the NFC policy actually dictates the exact position of the image within the article, but I'll go along with you in the spirit of compromise. Bill (talk|contribs) 06:20, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Redknapp[edit]

Thanks for moving my contribution about the Freedom of the City. It's far better where it is now. Britmax (talk) 18:40, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Premier League 2008-09[edit]

I saw you had removed my partial early season summary from the article. I realise that some of it is POV but I feel it is important to put some of the results in perspective rather than giving just dry statistics. In previous seasons this has not been well done so I thought an updated running summary would work best. I left a message on the talk page asking others to contribute to this. Thanks. 03md (talk) 09:46, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The talk page of the article is probably the best place to discuss this, but POV issues aside, the reason I'm uncomfortable with a running review of the season is that it makes selecting facts too arbitrary. As football is covered so much in the press it would be possible to pick any incident and add weight to that whether it is significant or not. At the moment we're using a system which highlights significant incidents in the season (landmark goals, various statistics, monthly awards etc.). In older season articles the matches are mentioned when a team gets relegated or wins the league. These are all significant events. I think these running summaries of the season are better suited for the individual team season articles, as each match has much more significance on their season than it does on the season as a whole. Even then, care must be taken to ensure that a single event doesn't get covered in too much detail if it's not hugely important. Bill (talk|contribs) 14:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

need a spot-check[edit]

I've been working on the Grand Theft Auto clone article, and was looking for someone to make sure there are no glaring omissions or inaccuracies. If you have a moment, would you care to check in at this discussion? Thanks in advance, Randomran (talk) 00:54, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apoligies[edit]

I will delete the image. I did not know that Take-Two owned all of the GTA pictures and I will take that in to consideration. The image will soon be deleted. Thank you for alerting me. -- Mike |talk 15:10, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't mention it. You can probably re-upload the images on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use as they would be useful for the articles. Bill (talk|contribs) 11:36, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Only trying to help!![edit]

In the Rob Styles article, I saw an unsourced section that had recently had a source request placed on it. I did a quick search to find a source for Megsons comments, as having unsourced comments could be a WP:BLP vio! I was only trying to help the 'pedia. I cant see why you chose to pick out my source as the problem when removing the section! If anything you should have made reference to the person who added the section without any sources in the first place. Sloan ranger (chat) 15:13, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. It would have been more pleasant of me to reference the initial poster of the section and not just your source so I apologise for that. I've removed that section a few times as it violates WP:BLP like you said and each time the person keeps adding it without a source that confirms that it is a controversy. Once again, sorry if I came off as attacking your contribution because that's completely not what I meant. Bill (talk|contribs) 15:22, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If the same person adds the section again, maybe a little note on his/her talk page might put this issue to rest. If different people keep re-adding the section, a hidden comment warning them off might be in order! Thanks for the apology, its appreciated and accepted. Happy editing :-) Sloan ranger (chat) 15:36, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GTA London[edit]

Not sure if im doing this right but here goes! GTA London was at first brought out as an expansion pack but was then later released as a standalone game. I know because i have a copy. The standalone game doesnt involve putting the 1st GTA disk in, and then GTA London. Ben —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Is King (talkcontribs) 12:41, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As it was bought out as an expansion it's not part of the main series. There's a consensus that it's not. If you think that's wrong then I suggest you bring it up on the talk page of GTA London or the GTA Taskforce page. Bill (talk|contribs) 13:50, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anelka[edit]

There was no false false edit summary where I said I was fixing something as I was removing badly worded material with poor Grammar and did not state I was fixing . The Category Converts to Islam was left as he clearly is one.

I would ask you to refrain from being pedantic and partake in the Wikipedia spirit of Good faith in other users.

(Taz Manchester (talk) 19:20, 30 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I would have assumed better faith if this wasn't the first time you had removed the material, or if you haven't been doing the same thing to other articles. Obviously you weren't removing the statement because of "Wording and grammar" because you removed it in 2 separate places within the article. One statement was "He is a muslim" which has no wording or grammar mistakes and is a suitable statement for the lead paragraph.
I can see from your edit history that you have made disputed edits regarding muslim people. If that is your real issue then you should partake in the spirit of Wikipedia and actually explain what your real issue is in your edit summary, instead of removing the content because of "wording and grammar mistakes". Hi Bill. Thanks for reverting my edits of the episode "What ever happened to SpongeBob", I thought it was missing. But in was in Season six. Anyways, thanks and have happy holidays and a happy new year. -Porchcrop (talk|contributions) 02:24, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem Porchcrop. I would have answered your question on the season talk page sooner but I missed it the first time. If nobody answers your questions then somebody may answer on either the SpongeBob or Nickelodeon projects. If you still get no response, then feel free to leave a message here to me and I'll do my best to help sort it out. Oh, and a happy new year too to you! Your revert[edit]

I saw you reverting my edit in List of SpongeBob SquarePants characters. If that isn't right, then which episode did Plankton say to Karen that she is spending time with her boyfriend, Mr. Krabs? -Porchcrop (talk|contributions) 00:09, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the episode you mentioned Plankton does say that sarcastically as he saw Karen in the Krusty Krab, but in her next line she says she was only there to buy him a burger. Here's the exact transcript:
  • Plankton: What's that? A Souvenir from your Boyfriend Krabs!?
  • Karen: Oh pipe down, I just went to get you this Happy Hero box.
Plankton then gets the idea from the box to use Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy in his own plans to steal the secret formula. --Bill (talk|contribs) 01:00, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
