Thanks for uploading Image:Ricki.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Alison MacGregor[edit]

We appreciate your interest in creating an article about Alison MacGregor, but we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites. If you want to rewrite the article in your own words, it would be great. For more information, see Wikipedia's Copyright FAQ. Thanks, FreplySpang (talk) 19:48, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The same goes for Mike Edwards (journalist) and Rae Stewart. We really do appreciate your eagerness to expand Wikipedia's coverage in this area, but we just can't accept text from other websites. If you've created other articles by cutting and pasting from Scotland Today or other websites, please go back and remove the copied text. Than you very much, FreplySpang (talk) 19:55, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:MikeEdwards.jpg)[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MikeEdwards.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 20:12, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images[edit]

Hello Garry. When you upload fair use images, could you please provide a fair use rationale on the image description page. See Image:Ourfriends.JPG for a good example. All fair use images uploaded after 4 May 2006 must have a rationale for use -- otherwise they will be deleted.

Why did you upload Image:SoccerAid.gif after I left this message without providing the fair use rationale I have advised you about? You are wasting your time and mine. The JPS talk to me 09:23, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Publicity photos[edit]

Also, please see Wikipedia:Publicity photos. You can only use these if they come from a partt of a website clearly marked as 'press kit', or 'media kit'. Otherwise, it is a copyright violation. Thanks. The JPS talk to me 13:15, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes[edit]

Oh, and thanks for your work on Infoboxes. If you don't know some bit of info, just leave the field blank, rather than a question mark. The JPS talk to me 13:25, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

External links. Again[edit]

Garry. Again, please only add external links directly relevant to that article. re: [http://www.itv.com/sport ITV Sport website]. Biographical articles about people should only have links to sites specifically about that person. This is similar to the feedback you received several weeks ago about adding the ITV website to programme articles. The JPS talk to me 09:14, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Still no rationale. Not good. Please make it your priority. In the next couple of days all of your images without rationale will be removed from the articles and deleted. The JPS talk to me 10:04, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for expaning it ver so slightly, but it's still not good enough. See Image:Ourfriends.JPG. That is what a fair use rationale is supposed to look like. The JPS talk to me 10:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied on my talk page. You'll see that the rationale required. The JPS talk to me 10:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image uploading[edit]

Please don't upload images if you aren't willing to provide proper source information, license information, and a fair use rationale for images which you assert are fair use. License tagging for Image:ITVSundayFeast.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ITVSundayFeast.gif. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:08, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Images again...[edit]

Please don't misuse the tv-screenshot, as you did for Image:JeniBarnett.jpg. See User:The JPS/FUR, as your fair use ratioanles need to be developed. The JPStalk to me 17:20, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additions to Category:Children's ITV television programmes[edit]

The Category:Children's ITV television programmes page says the following, right at the top: "This category contains children's television programmes broadcast on ITV, particularly those as part of the CITV strand. It does not contain imports which were originally broadcast in another country."

This means that Freakazoid! and Animaniacs and a lot of other shows you added do not meet the criteria for this category. Please revert those additions ASAP. --Darksasami 20:45, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you that the name should not change. However, please do not remove the message while the debate is still going on. The admin who closes the debate will remove the message. Please do not remove any similar notice from any article. The JPStalk to me 22:55, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please remove the American shows. Think about the number of categories each article would be in if every channel a programme was shown on was included. The JPStalk to me 23:10, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:ITV sitcoms[edit]

I don't think emptying out this category and putting all the articles in category:ITV television programmes was a good idea. That category is already a large category, why make it even larger. It's much handier to have the sitcoms in a subcategory of the category:itv television programmes. See also here Wikipedia:Categorization#Organizing categories Garion96 (talk) 12:47, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I refilled the category. See also Category talk:ITV sitcoms. Garion96 (talk) 18:06, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for image copyright violations[edit]

I'm sory to have to do this, Gary, but I have given you a short block because you are persistantly uploading images without following correct procedure. Yet again, (through Image:ITVPhillipSchofield.jpg) you have misused the tv-screenshot tag. It is clearly not a screenshot. Yet again you have failed to follow the guidelines at Wikipedia:Publicity photos. You are welcome to return whne the block expires shortly, but further violations will result in a longer block. The JPStalk to me 11:27, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, you have made some very useful contributions, and we thank you for it. We would really like you to carry on with these. But I really must stress the importance of copyright and following advice and guidelines. The JPStalk to me 11:32, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Publicity photos[edit]

In what way do the GMTV images, such as Image:GMTVAndreaMcLean.jpg, conform with the guidelines at Wikipedia:Publicity photos? Where is the statement on the website saying that it is a press kit, and the images can be reproduced? The JPStalk to me 10:12, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry JPS. I think I'll just forget about uploading images as I'm just not getting it. Sorry for causing you trouble. I will stick to improving and creating articles.

Blocked again for further image violations[edit]

You have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for yet again uploading images under the incorrect tag. Yet again, you are misusing tv-screenshot. The JPStalk to me 20:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But the images you are removing are tv-screenshots, so why are you removing them?
GarryMc 20:16, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They have been modified by the copyright holder. The JPStalk to me 20:19, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed that you had uploaded the above image as having been captured by yourself. However, that seems to have been an image I found once before at leeseaman.com. Am I right there? Wikiwoohoo 13:20, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To eliminate the problem, I'll upload a similar image from the TV Newsroom as its replacement. Wikiwoohoo 13:22, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. That image isn't from leeseaman.com, I captured thae image my self.
GarryMc 13:48, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. It just looked similar to the one on that site. Wikiwoohoo 11:56, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just a helpful tip - instead of making a new page and copying content there it is easier just to click on the move tab at the top of the article (right after the edit this page and history). Moving a page this way also keeps the history of the page. Keep up the good work. Jon513 14:56, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip. I feel silly now. LOL
GarryMc 14:58, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SMG-stub[edit]

While 10 articles is enough to justify ordinary categories, stub types need at least 60 articles in most cases (30 if there is an associated wikiproject). Also, stub templates need to be unambiguous, which {{SMG-stub}} isn't. Caerwine Caerwhine 19:33, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you look at , you'll see that hasn't got 'at least 60 articles'.

Audience share[edit]

Hi Garry (crossposted to Antz)

There appears to be a slow-motion revert war going on at the Grampian and Scottish articles over audience share etc. I'd be very grateful if you could both discuss the matter on the appropriate talk page rather than just reverting each other. I'd also be grateful if you could both try to stick to the WP:1RR essay ethos on this subject.

Thanks very much. ЯEDVERS 18:45, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Logos[edit]

Please don't use the Channel 4 logo for multiple telvision program pages. The logo is protected by copyright/trademark and can only be used for television station, network, corporation, or other organization in question, not individual television programs.

Thanks. --Madchester 23:21, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Clean up"[edit]

Please don't use an edit summary of "Clean Up" when it's real intention as to add a new image to the page. The term "Cleanup" is reserved for formatting, editing or gramatical errors. Thanks. --Madchester 23:33, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, now I know that for next time. :)
GarryMc 23:35, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A consensus was reached through CFD against the move. Why have you ignored that consensus? I'm reverting. The JPStalk to me 10:50, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you want you can help correct them. If you start at A we should meet in the middle. The JPStalk to me 11:10, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, sorry, I just thought it made sense. GarryMc 11:11, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Being bold is usually welcomed, but it is always best to discuss things in an associated project before making changes effecting about a hundred articles. Always check the talk pages to see if it has been discussed before. In this case, you would have seen that it has been discussed before, and that the idea was rejected. TV Newsroom images[edit]

Hi. Don't know if you remember when I mentioned how an image you had uploaded of Huw Edwards and stated had been captured by yourself was almost identical to one I had seen on leeseaman.com, but I have found two more now that are without doubt from TV Newsroom though you have stated in the image summary for each that they were captured by yourself.

All I'm saying really and don't take this the one way, is that you don't need to pretend an image was your own when it comes from somewhere like TV Newsroom, where images are fine for fair use, but credit must be given to them where due. I will update the image summary pages for both image pages. Thanks. Wikiwoohoo 15:59, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
