Miscommunication

Hello, you left a message on my talk page claiming that I had edited a page without adequately explaining why. I understand that there is a lot of unregistered users vandalizing pages. However, your accusation is unfounded. In fact, I did give multiple reasons for my edit on the talk page of the page I edited (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:At_Her_Majesty%27s_pleasure).

Frankly, I do not appreciate you removing my edit without checking whether I had given a reason. To me, this seems as though I'm being treated more harshly just because I don't have an account. It would only have taken a moment to check on my user page whether I had perhaps left a comment somewhere.

Dynamic IPs

Highly dynamic IPs such as this one are randomly assigned to users - they often cannot control the fact that their IP changes between edits, so your warning isn't particularly accurate or helpful. In addition, the IP's not exactly wrong about the choice to redirect the very poorly sourced BLP to another article, though AfD would be more appropriate in this case as the article subject is not even mentioned at the target redirect. Also, @Hey man im josh:, regarding this edit summary, redirecting a BLP with garbage sourcing is very much a viable option if a search for reliable sources comes up empty (which is what the IP explained clearly in their edit summary). Football Field Lights

Hello, 2 months ago I edited https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowell_High_School_(Michigan) to say that this school in particular was the first high school in Michigan to have proper lights on their field. You changed it, but this information is factual. I went to a neighboring school and both my teachers and teachers that work at Lowell find this to be true. you know there's something called recent changes right?
so if you find vandalism, you click diff, then check about it. I would suggest using the undo button, but if you get autoconfirmed rights, you can get Twinkle to revert and warn. I suggest you look at WP:VANDAL for more information as well as asking the CVU academy. I used Twinkle before switching to RedWarn and then getting Rollback rights. so for now, use recent changes with these filters, which helps me catch vandalism. For now, until you are autoconfirmed, you click diff, compare the revisions, then click undo, then submit the edit, then create a new topic that should start with the current month and year (i.e October 2022) then place the appropriate warn template (i.e uw-vandalism1), the full list should be at WP:WARN, which contains even those for blanking and much more. once you're autoconfirmed, install Twinkle on your user settings in gadgets, and then set the preference for warning users to auto to help speed up the process of selecting warnings.

Visual Editor for Older Pages

Hey! Hope you don't mind me reaching out here.

There's a page I'm maintaining (Symphony X), but I find it fairly difficult as there doesn't seem to be a visual editor available for the page. Is there something I'm missing? Would appreciate any info you may have.

Visual editor is available on all mainspace pages, which means that Symphony X should have visual editor. You can switch between visual and source editors by enabling the 2017 wikitext editor, which is what I often use for editing pages. To enable the 2017 Wikitext Editor, go to the beta features in your preferences, and enable new wikitext mode, then you will be able to switch between visual/source editing. I often recommend using the 2017 wikitext editor since you will be able to see what you are editing and if there are broken templates. Wesoree (Talk) 14:35, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

Marcel Duchamp

Hi Wesoree. About the topic Marcel Duchamp; these are the arguments to consider for people that are not aware of the question who made the artwork. This information is part of the knowledge around this topic. Thank you in advance.

1917: Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was living in New York City at the time of the Society of Independent Artists exhibition, where the Fountain was submitted. Marcel Duchamp, on the other hand, was not living in the city at the time, and it is uncertain whether he even saw the urinal in person. 1917: Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was known for creating artwork out of found objects, just like her famous assemblage sculpture God (1917). She likely saw the urinal as a ready-made object that could be transformed into art, and she created the Fountain in her unique style of found-object art. 1917: "R. Mutt" was a pun on the German word Armut meaning poverty, this was part of her artist statement. ”The joke of "mutt" has also been interpreted as a reference to Elsa's nickname "M'Lady," which suggests that she may have signed the urinal with the pseudonym The handwriting on the Fountain is strikingly similar to Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven's handwriting in other works of art and in personal letters. It is well known that she was the one who signed the urinal with the pseudonym "R. Mutt. William Camfield, Irene Gammel and John Higgs point out that Duchamp himself admitted, in a letter to his sister on April 11, 1917, that it was not he but one of his female acquaintances who sent the urinal.

1935: The first time the Fountain was attributed to someone, it was attributed to Marcel Duchamp. However, Duchamp's claim that he purchased the urinal from a plumbing store named J.L. Mott has been disputed. There was no shop at the location where he would have bought the object, only a showroom, and it was later discovered that the urinal had been shipped from Philadelphia. Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was known to have been in Philadelphia at that time, while Duchamp was not. Also to refer to a showroom is not an artistic statement, while referring to poverty is. 1935: Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven had already passed away by the time the Fountain was first attributed to Marcel Duchamp. It is possible that she did not assert herself as the creator of the urinal because she did not have the opportunity to do so. Theo Paijmans, a Dutch author and art historian, has argued that Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was the true creator of the Fountain. He has cited the similarity between the Fountain and Elsa's other works of art, as well as the similarity between the handwriting on the urinal and Elsa's handwriting, as evidence of her authorship. Irene Gammel, a Canadian literary historian who has written extensively about Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, has also claimed that the artist was a significant influence on Duchamp and that her work deserves greater recognition. Gammel has pointed out that Elsa's other works from the same period as the Fountain, such as her assemblage sculpture Cathedral (1918), are closely related to the urinal and suggest that she was the one who created it. In conclusion, the evidence strongly suggests that Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was the creator of the Fountain, not Marcel Duchamp. Her unique style of found-object art, the similarity between the handwriting on the urinal and her handwriting, the artist statement and the proximity of her location to the urinal's shipment all point to her as the true author of this artwork. Very strange that I am blocked by you and not the writer of the Marcel Duchamp page. Historically it's well known that Marcel Duchamp did not make the Fountain. Hi. The people used in images in "List of Vietnamese people" and some of the people listed there are not very notable compared to the ones I'm an using. The ones I am using are universally beloved and the ones used in this page are not very famous or just people trying to make not-very-famous people, famous. For example, Nguyen Chi Tai is way more famous then most people on this list but is not there. My edits will improve this page and I am reverting to my edits. There's a feature called edit summary. Using the edit summary can allow you to be able to delete, and it lets those who revert vandalism know that you are removing large content. It can confuse us between what is vandalism and what is not. Adolf Hilter and Animal Rights

Hi Wesoree,

I see my addition to the list of animal rights activists has been removed again, this time with no reason given. Are you willing to engage in discussion about this? It is known that Hitler was interested in animal rights, the Nazi Party put several laws in place regarding animal rights, including some about vivisection and animal cruelty. Hitler was also known to have practiced vegetarianism toward the end of his life. The diaries of Goebbels also suggest that Hitler desired to outlaw livestock production in Germany after he won the war.

All of this information is well known, it's summarized with reference on wikipedia itself. On this basis I think it's fair to say Hitler was an animal rights activist, he was one of the first animal rights activists in Europe actually. Can you please engage with me and confirm why you are removing this information? It was unclear from your original message.

I removed it because it was unsourced, which means that you need to read WP:RS and WP:CITE. Additionally, you should put it back in but also read it. It also might be that you might need to follow bold revert discuss on the article talk page, as other editors may not agree on the same thing.
