Add Cecil and Garland?[edit]

They can be seen in the magazine scan. Faythoffenrir (talk) 10:44, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cecil and Gralnd been put under new characters. They are not new. I suggest either not including them or making a new table for recurring/continued characters. - The Spellweaver 17:57, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cast[edit]

The seiyuu, and VAs, for Dissidia 012 should be expected.

  • Garland: Kenji Utsumi (Jp), Christopher Sabat (Eng)
  • Cecil: Shizuma Hodoshima (Jp), Yuri Lowenthal (Eng)
  • Kain: Kōichi Yamadera (Jp), Liam O'Brien (Eng)
  • Lightning: Maaya Sakamoto (Jp), Ali Hillis (Eng)
  • Cosmos: Sumi Shimamoto(Jp), Kathleen McInerney (Eng)
  • Chaos: Norio Wakamoto (Jp), Keith David (Eng)72.184.129.252 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:51, 8 September 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Apparently JD Cullum confirmed Kuja's return, saying that he's finished voice work for Duodecim. Yellow Mage (talk) 22:07, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Warrior of Light[edit]

Enough for confirmation? http://blog.jp.square-enix.com/tgs10/2010/09/13153955.html --84.250.23.231 (talk) 05:53, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

unfortunately, i didn't find anything about warrior of light mentioned, but merely mentions to look forward to tokyo game show 2010, and that is a sample image, anyways i think we should wait until then.Bread Ninja (talk) 08:04, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

True, you do see his helmet on the teaser site though :P It'd be strange for S-E to not include him considering Garland and Cecil are staying too xD --84.250.23.231 (talk) 11:47, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He's in the game and (spoiler), apparently betrays the Warriors of Cosmos, but doesn't quite join Chaos's side. 142.26.194.190 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:03, 13 October 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Original Cast[edit]

One of the referenced pages on the wiki article (http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/09/15/flying_get/) says everyone from the original cast returns. --84.250.23.231 (talk) 09:25, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tifa Lockhart[edit]

There have been accounts that Tifa Lockhart of Final Fantasy VII will be making (or has already made) an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show, as shown here. Of course, given the nature of the ambiguous nature of the source, maybe we should wait for a more reliable source before adding anything. --User:Immblueversion (talk) 19:22, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Several places and sites including Famitsu have said she's seen in the trailer that was not openly visible (i.e., the one on Youtube) --84.250.61.217 (talk) 19:54, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cast List[edit]

There used to be a list of new playable characters similar to the one in the Dissidia Final Fantasy article. Where'd it go? 207.216.200.81 (talk) 04:29, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:GAMECRUFT. The guideline states that cast lists as a separate section are discouraged in game articles. Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 21:19, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You guys have a lot of work ahead of you getting rid of them, then, 'cause a lot of the game articles, especially for the crossover games like Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, have playable character lists. 207.216.200.81 (talk) 01:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would consider restoring the playable character table as well. Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:38, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wait... first you say they're "gamecruft" and then you say you want the DDFF character table back? I'm confused. Do you want it back or not, 'cause if you do, then go ahead and add it back in. I'm all for it. 142.26.194.190 (talk) 15:46, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize. I was referring to cast lists as standalone items (this does not count voice actors in characters section). As I had said before, I suggest we restore the cast list, but also to include it in the characters section this time, as with the Dissidia: Final Fantasy article. Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 21:34, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Naming[edit]

Dissidia duodecim title[edit]

it seems like the knaji shows "Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy". so shouldn't we put that as the main title? the current one sounds really off.Bread Ninja (talk) 05:47, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The official English title is given as DISSIDIA 012 [duodecim] FINAL FANTASY, without any hyphens or colons designating Final Fantasy as a subtitle. For that matter, the official English title for the original is also DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY, with no colon. Wikipedia policy dictates that you can't use stylized text for the titles of articles, however. Dissidia 012 duodecim Final Fantasy is probably a fair rendering until an official English localization is announced.
As for the furigana (pronunciation), which is simply "Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy", that's less important than the actual written title. See Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, which is pronounced "Kingdom Hearts Three-Five-Eight Days Over Two". WtW-Suzaku (talk) 08:52, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well the title goes more like Dissidia [duodecim]012: Final Fantasy. as for colon. it will depend on english reviews whether it should or not. i personally think it should stayed with colons. just look at Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus. though the dashes look really inappropriate.Bread Ninja (talk) 09:21, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Check Square's official websites and press releases. Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus are officially "CRISIS CORE -FINAL FANTASY VII-" and "DIRGE of CERBERUS -FINAL FANTASY VII-" in English, whereas Dissidia is officially "DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY". Colons are used instead of hyphens for subtitles on wikipedia due to manual of style, however Dissidia Final Fantasy has no subtitle.

The official ordering of the title when on a single line will be revealed soon via press release, but so far I've seen it mostly as "DISSIDIA 012 [duodecim] FINAL FANTASY" on Japanese sites. It makes more sense that way, as the [duodecim] is clearly a pronunciation guide for the 012. WtW-Suzaku (talk) 10:01, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it's still in the tile....for now, we should keep it to "Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy". and make sure no one moves the page.Bread Ninja (talk) 19:43, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And with the new official site, "DISSIDIA 012 FINAL FANTASY" is indeed confirmed. [1] WtW-Suzaku (talk) 20:25, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Should the page be Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy? Given that its predecessor is Dissidia: Final Fantasy.KiasuKiasiMan 03:39, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Leave it alone for now. Until we the englsih game releases and adds the colon then we can add the colons if a number of courses use it.Bread Ninja (talk) 05:29, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, the game has been out for years now, the title is still officially rendered "DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY", perhaps a title-case version of this with maybe a colon thrown in should be used or maybe mentioned? There is no space between 012 and [duodecim], only a space directly following. MontztheMan (talk) 09:45, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

3rd Costumes Only Available Under Certain Circumstances[edit]

The only third costumes that were mentioned were an Aya costume for Lightning, and Cloud's Kingdom Hearts outfit. Both of which can only be obtained if you have The 3rd Birthday for the Aya suit and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix for Cloud's KH costume. The Additional Material section only has info for Cloud's DLC costume, but not Lightning's. 142.26.194.190 (talk) 14:46, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prequel or Sequel?[edit]

The trailer kinda makes it ambiguous wherether Dissidia 012 is a prequel or sequel to the original game, with the Emperor saying that none of the warriors remember any of the prior conflicts between Cosmos and Chaos. 142.26.194.190 (talk) 20:06, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Although technically a prequel, taking place in the 12th battle (first one being the 13th). an interviewer has called it a sequel. until further information changes, then we will change it to prequel.Bread Ninja (talk) 20:42, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't what the problem is. All prequels are sequels, but not all sequels are prequels. See also Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games/Archive 82#Second opinion on "prequels". Megata Sanshiro (talk) 09:47, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
that one is not as direct as the one in here. plus I was in it, so no need to remind me, that argument was never settled correctly. the main focus are the games while everything else complimenting it, although the anime released a couple weeks before the games, the anime was a series just like the games and was airing conccurrent with the video games, which still can be justified as a prequel. As of now the word "prequel" hasn't been used yet, and information can change.Bread Ninja (talk) 16:44, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
"...revealing what occurred before the events of its prequel"? Any so-called sequel that reveals the events prior to the original story is a prequel. Dissidia 012 is the prequel to Dissidia. Just pointing out that the statement kinda contradicts itself. 142.26.194.190 (talk) 21:03, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. The original Dissidia is not a prequel. "Prequel" is a portmanteau of "previous" and "sequel". Fixed now. -- Noneofyourbusiness (talk) 19:00, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Like i said, information can change. for now we odn't even know if that will be the main focus.Bread Ninja (talk) 21:19, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just because it reveals previous information, Dissidia 012 in no way has to be a prequel. It could simply happen after the first game and the characters find out about what happened before. I say we just go by what it has been officially declared, which is so far nothing.72.199.100.223 (talk) 08:39, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

that is basically what i'm saying. though announced as a sequel, we should keep it as is, until further information specifically state it as a prequel.Bread Ninja (talk) 08:42, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Information?[edit]

Check it out? Is this stuff we can use to update the article? http://kotaku.com/5674749/lots-of-new-looks-at-dissidia-012[duodecim]/gallery/ 142.26.194.190 (talk) 21:51, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vaan?[edit]

When and where was Vaan confirmed? There's no info on kotaku or any of the official wbsites, so take it down for now. 207.216.200.81 (talk) 02:56, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Characters[edit]

All right. This addition of unsourced material is really getting out of hand. Just so everyone is clear, if you can not provide a reliable, published source about new characters (such as Vaan, Wakka, etc.), any addition these characters will be deemed as original research. Thank you for your cooperation. Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 12:39, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You might aswell rever everything that they've done to the point where it appeared most lively. it looks like this because of vandalism.Bread Ninja (talk) 18:02, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't there references when there was a table of new characters?Tintor2 (talk) 20:13, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think so. If there was, we should source them so this situation will not happen again. Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 20:17, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now that I check, the old references were from the site Siliconera and I don't think it's reliable.Tintor2 (talk) 20:20, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thats odd because, i used siliconera a couple times as a source....Well maybe it can be put in the project discussion page. But either way, there has been alot of vandalism, and i mentioned it in the past.Bread Ninja (talk) 20:34, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vaan has been confirmed. Link: http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/216/vaanddff.jpg. Although I don't know where we can source it to since I found the link of the Final Fantasy Wiki. 207.216.200.81 (talk) 22:34, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How reliable is that? Lord Psyko Jo (talk) 17:53, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's a preview of next week's Jump magazine. There's been faked scans before of course, but never of this quality. If this is a fake, it's the best yet. The Clawed One (talk) 18:40, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jump Festa featured a new trailer, at the end a clip about 2 seconds long showed Yuna's bare feet with a bit of a hakama showing walking on water in a similar fasion to the Sending Ritual from Final Fantasy X. Should Yuna be added? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.232.154.145 (talk) 19:28, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Laguna Loire[edit]

Laguna's section used to say he was Squall's father as well as FFVIII's secondary protagonist, but now it just says he's the secondary protagonist. Why was the part about him being Squall's dad cut? 207.216.194.166 (talk) 05:06, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Late reply though, but there is no evidence (reliable source) that Laguna is Squall's father. Only the unreliable proof (Final Fantasy Wiki@Wikia) mentions the relationship. So no reliable source =s to that part being cut, get it? Kyrios320 (talk) 08:38, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Downloadable Content[edit]

Should this page include the additional content that can be obtained by getting other games? For example, Lightning gets Aya Brea's outfit in The 3rd Birthday, Cloud gets an additional outfit when you have KH Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and when you get the special edition of Duodecim Tifa gets another alternate outfit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.238.131.132 (talk) 01:51, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Voice Actors[edit]

How sad that history repeats itself. Fortunately for my stress levels and unfortunately for the article I'm not in the mood to care this time around. The Clawed One (talk) 23:36, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

don't worry, we'll worry about it when we cross that bridge. But things like prishe and gilgamesh can't be verified yet. So those can be removed. while the rest probably can be.Bread Ninja (talk) 01:47, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Did anybody noticed what happened to the Dissidia 012 article?[edit]

Its demo (Dissidia 012 Prologus) is never fully mentioned in it. Any wikipedia user should know that Dissidia 012's demo has a different name and it's not a free demo, it's a paid demo released on the PlayStation Network (PSN). So the demo shouldn't be mentioned the article like the demo has the same name as the main game and free of charge, what a disgrace for the way it was edited! If you admins don't believe me, you can see this as proof: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dissidia_012_Prologus_Final_Fantasy Kyrios320 (talk) 02:10, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't mark it a reliable source. I only marked it up as proof for improved editing of the demo's mention in the article. So delete that disrespectful sentence away please. Kyrios320 (talk) 12:25, 17 February 2011 (UTC) Done deleting already.[reply]

THAT'S IT! I've deleted that disrespectful sentence away, Bread Ninja! Kyrios320 (talk) 08:46, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

wait why is this directed at me?Bread Ninja (talk) 08:55, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Something's not right here...[edit]

Someone has been repeatedly adding speculation, such as Hedy Burress playing Yuna and Liam O'Brien playing Kain. Can anyone provide a reliable source on this information? Thanks. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 16:57, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can't find anything just speculation. Anyways...i really dont expect much editing until the game releases. though we could also add a tag warning editors not to add speculation.Bread Ninja (talk) 17:00, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has added the speculation again, despite the notification. Should we leave the voice actors out until there is a reliable source? Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 18:54, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
we should in general, but for things like this, i would usually treat is as something that will eventually get removed. especially since the release is pretty near. But if things like this start getting reverted again and again, then it would be best to put semi-protection over the article.Bread Ninja (talk) 18:57, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article protection?[edit]

We really need to get this article protected, or something. Because as much as the person editing it wants to claim otherwise, recognizing a voice in a video is not a reliable source, because our ears aren't reliable. It is entirely possible to fool yourself into thinking it's the proper voice, when it could be a really good sound alike. Harpiesiren (talk) 16:01, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, it won't be long until the game releases and it was a wiki editor who added the refs. so if we put protection it would be difficult to make more edits.Bread Ninja (talk) 20:35, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dissidia 012 Prologus[edit]

There needs to be more information on this prequel-of-a-prequel. I don't deal with this game so I cannot help, but research indicates that the importance of Prologus warrants more than a passing mention; it is not an ordinary demo, and should not be discussed that way. Despatche (talk) 14:35, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

haven't seen much explanation oon the demo, so maybe you should clarify to us why it's so relevant.Bread Ninja (talk) 19:42, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Time Placement?[edit]

I know that there has already been a topic of prequel vs. sequel, but I'm still slightly confused... In the story mode 000 there is mentioned the 18th cycle, and others, but if this is duodecim (12) how can there be that kind of reference? Thanks. 76.125.170.56 (talk) 23:52, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Arena Fighting Game[edit]

I'm not really jumping to conclusions here, but I would like to throw something out there: All fighting games of all kinds are always strictly classified as "fighting games", but there are subgenres. Take Power Stone for instance - it's subgenre is "arena fighter." When you really think about it, Dissidia plays MUCH more like Power Stone than Guilty Gear. So, I think it would probably be a bit better if we just add that "arena" in there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.230.252.5 (talk) 17:16, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks fairly good. My issues for FA would still be some spots of slightly redundant or awkward wording. The lede has this bit, "The game is both a prequel and remake of Dissidia Final Fantasy, revealing what occurred before the events of its predecessor, and was released on March 22, 2011 in North America" which seems unusual. The first comma is not an adequate split for the run-on sentence. Other points like "EX Mode functions exactly the same as the first game by collecting EX Cores" implies that readers have read about the first game or are familiar with it, an unnecessary and incorrect reference for this localized article. The incomplete track listing for length and Japanese names are probably a concern for the FA level, but I can't hold it back for that alone.

While you do also avoid the infamous "worse name for a video game" release popularized by Game Informer in the Top Ten Stupid Videogame Titles section in their 2011 release. It ranks as #4 by the way. Here's the full quote if you care, "Square Enix is the master at coming up with confusing titles. As the first sequel to the original Dissidia, this follow-up is naturally titled Dissidia 012 - a numbering system that makes about as much sense as scoring in tennis. Duodecim isn't actually in the title, but rather the Latin pronunciation of twelve. It was nice of Square to include it so you that you know how to make an ass of yourself when saying the name out loud." (In issue 217 of Game Informer, May 2011)

Anyways. Congrats, it passes. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 20:06, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
