update the References[edit]

if you look at the end of the article some of the links are dead or not worken for some reason i don't know why, shouldn't someone find new ones or find what happen to these ones and some things written down don't have sources next to them. Nothing wrong with them here at all just copy and paste the links were you found the info its quick and easy and stops people deleting the things you spent a lot time trying to write down it'll help you and others who don't know every thing. If your unshore about anything ask someone they'll be happy to help you don't worry82.22.206.205 (talk) 17:51, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thundercats[edit]

I recall reading on wikipedia something about Mark writing/co-writing the theme tune to thundercats, is this just a daft rumour? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.222.92.87 (talk) 12:49, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You need to provide reliable sources for what you are saying. See Wikipedia:Verifiability. Chris1193 (talk) 16:50, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Parentage[edit]

Just wondering... His father is listed as being Mick Ronson, guitarist for David Bowie etc... His sister's father is listed as being businessman Laurance Ronson... Is it just coincidence that they have different fathers with the same last name or is this and error??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.118.80 (talk) 13:23, 28 August 2008 (UTC) Ok... so I read the references on Samantha Ronson's page and updated this one accordingly... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.118.80 (talk) 13:29, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

songwriter???[edit]

okay it says mark co-wrote Slow down baby the song by Christina Aguilera and also the song Back to Black does that make him a songwriter buy wikipedia standereds others like that have songwriter written down on there articles don't know if mark does or not82.22.206.205 (talk) 19:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've just answered your own question by acknowledging that he wrote songs, therefore he can be described as a 'Songwriter' Indisciplined (talk) 18:05, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. Neither of those songs were big hits; so although he may have some writing credits to his name, he is not notable as a songwriter. Nathan86 (talk) 05:30, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Back to Black was a big hit in the UK 86.2.38.112 (talk) 21:23, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This may sound like an odd question, but has this guy actually done anything of his own? All the songs I know of are remixes or covers, like that mutilated disaster he calls "Valerie".
TheDarkFlame (talk) 14:37, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean by 'of his own'? He's a producer- his work on other people's records is 'his own' work, and part of that work has been songwriting. But he has not released music as a singer/songwriter, or anything along those lines Youandtheguys (talk) 19:44, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nephew who helped Usher and Craig David become famous?[edit]

The claim that he has a nephew who helped Usher become famous seems a bit unlikely to me. Ronson's only 32, how could he have a nephew old enough to have done that? (Usher released his first album in 1994). 79.68.17.89 (talk) 17:53, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Ronson's step father is Not Mick Ronson! It is Foreigner's Mick Jones —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.168.18.246 (talkcontribs) 1 February 2006

All Google hits suggest that he is son of Mick Ronson, and the stepson of Mick Jones from Foreigner. [1] I don't know where Laurence Ronson has come from. Google certainly doesn't support that. - Nzd (talk) 19:23, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Try "Lawrence Ronson". This is definitely right. Mother Ann Jones, whose first husband was this UK financer. No relation to Mick Ronson at all.

Here: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/10/arts/music/10rons.html?_r=2&ref=arts&oref=slogin&oref=slogin . The reason he's listed as Mick Ronson's son on some sites is because he is incorrectly listed as such in the allmusic guide; and all the other sites that say he IS his son have swiped their info from there. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A21644525 Nathan86 (talk) 06:50, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Ronson three time grammy winner[edit]

okay mark won two grammy at the grammy awards 'producer of the year' and 'record of the year' he shared the record with amy the award go to the song writers and producers but amy just made a speech when it was anouced as mark was in l.A and amy was in london. so i think that should be up there too on mark and amys articles look up record and song of the year on wikipedia it will tell you about it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.22.206.205 (talk) 02:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

here the official Grammy website [[2]] that says the winners and nommites and mark is listed as well for the record of the year i think it should be added why does only amy gets the credit she shared it with mark

heres what it says on the wikipedia page [[3]] the record of the year grammy goes to the artist AND the producer so actually mark won three grammys please put the right facts in please. or i'll do if no one replys

Personal Life?[edit]

I've read somewhere that he was supposed to be married, but they never said if actually married her. And I've noticed we only have a section about his 'early life', does anyone have material to make his a section about his current personal life? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.223.232 (talk) 03:24, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

Michael Jackson tribute album with Rhymefest[edit]

I've added a brief sentence about this project. RMM77 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 00:32, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

London or Southport?[edit]

Why is his "Origin" listed as London? He was born in Southport and then the next place he is listed as living is New York so where does London fit in? I changed London to Southport once already. brob (talk) 01:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC) It says New York now. Can we be clear what Origin relates to? brob (talk) 21:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On a Google search IMDB, and others say that he was actually born in London, so ive changed it. Chris1193 (talk) 20:54, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so lets get this clear. On his webpage and imdb they state he was born in London, all the rest just say England. I'm adding references, and hopefully this solves the problem! Chris1193 (talk) 18:55, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

100,000,000,000 quid to DJ for Cruise & Holmes?[edit]

Have serious doubts about that figure! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.144.116.200 (talk) 14:19, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do as well! I have removed it because there are no refernces to it anyway. And it wasnt quite 100,000,000,000 when I checked. Chris1193 (talk) 19:12, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Associated Acts[edit]

I'm removing Sam Sparro, Julian Peretta and Jay-Z from this section - the other artists have/have had long-term artistic association with MR while SS & JP just happened to tour with him once; and I have no idea why someone put Jay-Z there... Nathan86 (talk) 05:44, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism/Criticism[edit]

If you don't like Mark Ronson; why don't you add a criticism section with properly sourced relevent criticism rather than just vandalising the article??? Nathan86 (talk) 09:00, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anglo-American[edit]

Wouldn't that be a more accurate description than "British"? --MichiganCharms (talk) 06:27, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, he's not Anglo-American.

And why has somebody removed in the first sentence the DJ/Disc Jockey part? He is first and foremost a DJ, not a guitarist —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.30.91.78 (talk) 23:27, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Potential source[edit]

I just removed the following source from the article's external links section since it didn't comply with our guidelines, but it looks like it would be a good source to expand the article with so I'm placing it here on the talk page for future sourcing.

Discography & Production sections[edit]

Who changed the format? It's an absolute mess. Nathan86 (talk) 03:33, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Origin[edit]

what does the origin bit in the info box means? it seems like a weird thing to have for a person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.153.113 (talk) 17:47, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No genre listed in the infobox[edit]

The current version of this article doesn't list any genres in the infobox. Can this be remedied? Are there sources for this kind of thing or do people just generally make up the genres? I see other artists such as The Beatles and David Guetta have genres listed. Hmm. --MZMcBride (talk) 02:07, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I added a few genres in this edit. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:21, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
