The Ultimate Boss[edit]

Hello,

I know you had issues with this user (previously known as DarklyShadows) in the past; they have quit Wiki and left their user page with text clearly directed at me after my comments at their recent FAC. Also, look at their comments on my talk page, does that break WP:CIVIL? --K. Peake 14:36, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kyle Peake: Don't think about it too much, he will be back sooner or later. He is just "mad" due to the comments, I guess he can't assume "good faith". Regards, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:45, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I'm not sweating it to be honest, though "Can't Tell Me Nothing" is under review by him so should it be changed to second opinion? Also, how do you feel about my comments, was I correct to make them or too specific? --K. Peake 14:48, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: I would give it some time, but it is your call. They were correct, if the user took your advice and changed the article, which actually looks like a huge mess, he could even make you support it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 15:01, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That is fully true, though he has now stated that the review will be continued prior to his apparent retirement. --K. Peake 19:05, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: So he is back for good or just to finish the review? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:34, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See what he has recently posted and you will find that out. --K. Peake 16:50, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

GA reviews[edit]

Hello,

I have not been reviewing articles as much over the past week and a bit, though will be making more of a return soon but feel worried for some reason; like as someone that's seen plenty of my work, am I a slow reviewer... sorry I just get anxious? --K. Peake 18:57, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kyle Peake: Hi there! You are not a slow reviewer at all. Anyway, take as much time as you need to make a great review and good luck with those. Nothing better to beat anxiety than a GA review. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:31, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah this has more so been propelled by real-life experiences, but thanks for giving feedback. I honestly do enjoy contributing to this site and it is sure as hell rewarding to get barnstars! --K. Peake 20:34, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Reviews are going fine, though I do have a question; this year-end chart for 2019 in Portugal has a streaming chart for 2019; should this be cited on year-end charts as Portugal Streaming (AFP)? --K. Peake 20:22, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: I cited the singles and digital and not the stremaing. Perhaps if it doesn't enter the normal year-end chart? However, mention it is the streaming and not the regular? Nontheless, I'm not 100% sure. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:48, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good topic[edit]

Hello! Can you reply at Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Melodrama (Lorde album)/archive1 re: whether or not you think the topic should be promoted? I don't understand what the little issues with specific articles have to do with the Good topic promotion. Thanks! IMO, we should be judging if the collection of articles meet Good topic criteria as a whole. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:40, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm having some problems with my iternet provider right now. So once I figure out what is going on, I will try to see what has and hasn't been done there. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:03, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Break My Heart Again[edit]

I was about to start my review of this article, but I noticed in the past that you had successfully nominated it for deletion so thought it would be appropriate to reach out to you now and ask if the article is ready to be reviewed or still lacks notability? --K. Peake 05:42, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

K. Peake, it was deleted because it lacked notability. I found more sources that were reliable and had more information about the song. The Ultimate Boss (talk) 06:38, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kyle Peake: It does look better. But I would have to give it a more detailed review. Just compare it to the WP:NSongs and take a closer look at the sources, it is you call in the end. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:22, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tours[edit]

Hi I was considering reviewing your GAN of Hooligans in Wondaland Tour, though I am not too sure what the criteria is for tours. Could you try to explain somewhat from an unbiased standpoint; I have looked through some GAs so began to develop an idea but still not certain... --K. Peake 15:04, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kyle Peake: Hello! That would be nice indeeed. I have promoted two other tours, they were bigger nontheless. Take a look at some FA tours to get a good grasp, such as The Breeders Tour 2014, Mozart family grand tour and Zoo TV Tour. They usuualy have a background and/or development section, they also include the performane section (with the songs and how it was perfomed), people can be bias in this setion, so be careful! Critical response for the critics who attended certain shows, setlist with the songs usually performed and some exceptions, the tour dates and gross if available. They can also include some stage design and show production, if available. Did it helped? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 15:28, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Message from Tease Pillar[edit]

Hello, MarioSoulTruthFan! I just came to thank you for your help with the article for "How Do You Know?" by K. Michelle to prepare it for it's GA finalization. I would extremely like to thank you for adding the credits and personnel to the article as I have been having a hard time adding that. I also am wondering if you could try adding the credits and personnel for another article I am currently working on which is "Never" by Keyshia Cole as I do not know how I should put the credits in. I really am trying to set that article up for a GA nomination and I would like for you to also help me on that. Thank you! Tease Pillar (contributions) • (let's chat) 23:48, December 3, 2020 (UTC)

@Tease Pillar: Besides one article or two and some improvement here and there I'm not that active and I don't take requests. At that point, the article you nominated was an exception since I tried to improve it as it didn't meet the GA requirements at a bare minimum, missing sections, doubtuful/unreliable sources...it could be further improved. BTW not sure why wyou removed the chats it entered? I could do that or teach how to do that for yourself, which is much better. Please read Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Album article style advice#Personnel to have a better grasp of that section and others can also be found on that page. I was thinking about taking this article to AFD since it does appear to lack notability, but I thought it'd be best to reach out to someone experienced in that regard like yourself first. With only nine sources, only seven of which (including Tidal) are specifically about the song, plus it did not chart or receive promotion, should this be taken to AFD? --K. Peake 14:56, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

user:Kyle Peake I’ll take it to AFD myself. So you don’t have to. The Ultimate Boss (talk) 20:01, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable album tracks[edit]

Hey, MSTF. I appreciate the work you are doing to uphold notability standards on music articles. Are you aware that a whopping 19 tracks on the album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon have their own articles? It seems to me that every 4-5 days a new one is created. I haven't personally looked into the situation as my track record at AfD is bad, but you might want to.--NØ 15:21, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MaranoFan: Greetings, I'm aware of that. However, for notability two sources are needed and all of them but 1/2 tracks, one is actually on AfD, and the other one is not. However, I don't want to have more than two/three AfDs open at the same time. I have three right now. I'm trying to make my record on there better, you can do the same. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:59, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As I mentioned earlier, my judgement isn't very good when it comes to what should be nominated for deletion. I especially won't be nominating any articles for songs that you think are notable, as you are way more experienced. Thank you.--NØ 01:53, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MaranoFan I guess it comes from a place with error and trial. Sometimes they will be deleted/redirected other times they won't. It dependes on who is voting and their perception on the guidelines. For example, I won't name the article because I don't want any problmes with users here. But a year before it was kept and it was pushed again to be deleted this year and this time it was voted to be deleted. Regarding music its not black and white and the bar is very low for WP:NSongs. As long as you have two articles talking about "X" song is good enough. Regarding the article you talked about...just go through each one and see if they have minimum of two sources talking about only the song. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 09:33, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me what the track is so I could put it up on AFD for you? If the community agrees that the track is not notable, it should definitely be redirected to its parent album. ShootForTheStars (talk) 17:51, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

MaranoFan, The Ultimate Boss: Its Something Special (song), you only have one source covering it, a genius one. The rest comes from album reviews and interview with management team, which itself doesn't show notability. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:03, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Here's one source I found talking about the song [1]. I'm not sure if it is reliable or not. ShootForTheStars (talk) 18:05, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@The Ultimate Boss: Unfortunately is not according to wikipedia. Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Sources#Reliable_sources the site belongs to medium "Per WP:RSP, Medium is a blog hosting service. As a self-published source, it is considered generally unreliable and should be avoided unless the author is a subject-matter expert or the blog is used for uncontroversial self-descriptions. Medium should never be used as a secondary source for living persons." So unless the author is an expert. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:19, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I will put the article up for AFD since it only has one source talking about the song. ShootForTheStars (talk) 18:21, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would first google the author. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:32, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Smeezingtons[edit]

Hi MarioSoulTruthFan, I found a couple of problems. The lists of instruments in the "Production equipment" section are confusing for non-experts ; it might be a good idea to reduce these lists to something more generic. Some of the text in "Influences and style" are also padding, particularly the fourth para onwards. I didn't find and other major problem I couldn't fix. Good luck with the article and cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:45, 2 May 2021 (UTC).[reply]

AFDs[edit]

To Superastig, Northamerica1000, and Eddie891 I'm reaching out to you because you are quite active on AFDs and I trust your judgment as you are all very experienced users.

Lately, I have been haressed, stalked and target on AFDs, a user has it out for me, and I'm not sure why. We engage in two discussions, see 1 and 2. There was no rudeness at this point or any sort of attack just two clear cut discussions. However, at some point things have changed and I'm not sure why. To begin with he makes false claims, he affirmed I nominated an article to be deleted, which I have note along with other claims. He calls the nominations to which I have gained supporters as "nonsensical" and that fall under "WP:SNOW" when he goes on a rampage nominating over ten articles for AFD all copy-paste (irony?)

He used an article that I submitted to AFD and was kept as an argument to keep other articles that I nominated and to be quite rude "and got his ass handed to him on a platter for a good reason", see this and this. I'm sure you can't use this as an argument as it is nothing but a fallacy and the sentence I enlighted should serve as warning, its just a personal attack at this point! So it should be removed from the AFD. I'm fine with someone disagree with my POV, but this feels like its over the top and stalky and quite offensive at best. Moreover, I feel like he is picking the articles I have nominated. He refuses to acknowledge any point I make and seems to make his own guidelines. If you go to the Afds I voted he is on all of them but one at the time I'm writing this. He claims "Who has time for this stupid shit?" So its stupid and doesn't have the time...but he votes? I'm confused, seems more than your casual voter.

Not sure if you can do anything about this, whats the best course of action here? I do feel stalked and target and this isn't good at all, Wikipedia is a place where you should feel safe. Should I address this to other adms or can any of you help me with this? Believe me I have never felt like this before and I never had issues with any user here, some discussions but nothing taken this far. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 23:13, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

MarioSoulTruthFan, both of you have a point in your statements as each of you follow different policies. However, HumanxAnthro seems to go out of line by flinging personal attacks in some of his statements and I find this intolerable. I suggest you take this incident to the admin noticeboard and tag HumanxAnthro to sort things out. ASTIG😎 (ICE TICE CUBE) 07:48, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@JSFarman: It is all good, if it wasn't for you I would not have noticed the spelling of Matt Galle. My biggest issue was with the roles because they are credited that way on the Billboard source, and ten years ago they could have a different role from what they have now. Remember the Name[edit]

Hi Mario, it has been a long time. I saw you have done a, self-proclaimed, "major lead revamp and also major revamp of Critical reception" on Remember the Name (Ed Sheeran song). I would have preferred you discuss this with me considering I had nominated the article for a GAN five days ago. I welcome the changes but this is inappropriate behaviour.--NØ 15:35, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

MaranoFan Hello! You are indeed correct, I should have discussed and warned you about the changes. Nevertheless, I believe I improved the article majorly as I was able to correct previous mistakes, add a new source, added information that was missing. The critical reception I added when the song was released divided the critic's analysis according to their preference and removed some information as one of the reviews was "copy and paste". Next time I will warn you. By the way, I will make some other changes in the meantime. Nevertheless, it is not "inappropriate behavior" as anyone is free to improve articles at any given point. I'm sure you know nobody owns wiki articles. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:08, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Majorly restructuring an article that has been GA-nominated by someone else four days earlier can reasonably be interpreted as stepping on toes. Kindly do not do this in the future without discussing it with the major contributors. I am not asking you to "warn" me, by the way, just inform. However, the article does look better and I have decided to keep the changes. Do let me know if you would like to be included as a co-nominator. Regards.--NØ 02:18, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
MaranoFan Well, better to have the reconstruction than a GA fail, isn't it? I just took your groundwork and expand upon it, created a section, and re-worded some stuff, you can see the edits. However, I can see how that can come across, therefore next time I will let you know something. I wouldn't have made changes if it was to look worst, now would I? Sure add me, after the changes I did I can't possibly review it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 10:54, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
MaranoFan On another note, how do you know it is a hip-hop song? You don't point a source for it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:02, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I figured the paragraph-wide discussion about Sheeran's rapping in the Composition section would suffice. I don't remember the exact source. This one is pretty descriptive but I don't see a genre.--NØ 11:13, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is a lot of useful information on that article that could be added. However, there is no genre. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:03, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
MaranoFan "“Remember The Name,” this time drawing inspiration from the tradition of rap posse cuts with 50 Cent..." → Uproxx. What do you think? The author also states "While he also sings the hook here, there’s a clear hip-hop bent to the delivery, as well as a distinctively Eminem-inspired flavor to the beat.", but this is more regarding the delivery, I believe. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 10:45, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good find. Maybe let us use this as the source in the infobox and we will remove the genre if the reviewer takes issue with it.--NØ 10:51, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
MaranoFan: Nevermind, I found a better source, take a look at the article page. I don't think anyone will require to remove it. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:28, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Remember the Name (Ed Sheeran song)[edit]

On 26 June 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Remember the Name (Ed Sheeran song), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Ed Sheeran wrote "Remember the Name" as a homage to the "cheekier songs" on early Eminem albums? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Remember the Name (Ed Sheeran song). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Remember the Name (Ed Sheeran song)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Cwmhiraeth (talk) 00:03, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

MarioSoulTruthFan, I noticed that you added a note to the GA nominee template for this nomination asking for a second reviewer, so I went ahead and changed the status from "onreview" to "2ndopinion". Given that this review was opened over three months ago and has been abandoned for well over two, I was wondering if you'd prefer that I put the nomination back into the pool of unreviewed noms with no loss of seniority. This would put the nomination as the sixth-oldest nomination needing a reviewer, which might well improve your chances of finding a new reviewer over that of those reviews looking for a second opinion/reviewer, though of course there are no guarantees. I'm very sorry you've had to wait so long. Please let me know your preference, and I'll make the adjustments needed. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 19:56, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Explain[edit]

I'd like to hear what you think. Why are you reverting?Justanother2 (talk) 04:09, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thus far you are doing an awful job of explaining. "It's already below" are the words you used. I am guessing you think some of the information is covered twice. I believe you are wrong but show me clearly what you mean. I find you to be editing in a fashion which is not proper.Justanother2 (talk) 12:25, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the information is covered below. It means it is twice in a row, just read the paragraphs MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:44, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
STOP. You're not using correct grammar. You called it a paragraph and it's more than one. Justanother2 (talk) 23:51, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If information is in an article twice it could be removed. Understand in a lede things are mentioned and then repeated at times in the bio section. You don't have to revert to remove info. I really think you should study writing and stop with your mistakes. Justanother2 (talk) 23:55, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I'm doing. It is already mentioned in the lead. You should learn how to read. Cheers, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:54, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Smokin out the Window[edit]

Hi MarioSoulTruthFan, this one was fairly straightforward but in the first paragraph of "Production and release", you have "Serban Ghenea mixed "Leave the Door Open" at MixStar Studios in Virginia Beach;"—I thought the song title might be a mistake and was about to change it for "Smokin out the Window" but decided to ask you instead. If "Leave the Door Open" is correct, I would remove that sentence because it's not relevant here. I also thought the list of musicians in that para is a bit long-winded—it might be best to reduce it to the main musicians and technicians since there's a list of personnel at the end of the article. Good luck with your planned FA nom. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 05:41, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is supposed to be "Smokin out the Window". It is just GA. Cheers, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:01, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Since you did the GA review for All My Hits: Todos Mis Éxitos Vol. 2‎, would you be wiling to check out its candidacy for FA? – jona 18:25, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for considering me to help out with the FAC. However, my time right now is not only limited, but I'm more use to GA reviews, so I'm not familiarized with the FA process. On top of that, It is quite demanding. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:36, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, was just wondering and appreciate your response. Best – jona 20:16, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Marry You[edit]

How is it not a real single cover? It’s sourced and there’s even promotional cd singles https://ibb.co/9TfYJvX https://web.archive.org/web/20130703200408/http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/singlesreviews/a332198/bruno-mars-marry-you.html Friendlyhelper9949 (talk) 22:24, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's a promo single distributed by labels to radios, promoters and others. Not for commercial release. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 08:50, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
news sources have the art on the single announcement though. other singles art are listed from links like that Friendlyhelper9949 (talk) 05:36, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
News source provided is one. There is no proof of that ever been the original art cover when the song was made available for download. Furthermore, the promo single cover art is also given to certain news outlets. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:22, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then let’s keep the art and say it’s promo like tons of articles do Friendlyhelper9949 (talk) 14:18, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's promo for a select group of people. Not promo art for a website sale available for the GP. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 15:05, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bruno Mars covers[edit]

Hi, happy new year! How do you know that they are not official covers? DollysOnMyMind (talk) 21:52, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have done that edit as well. Those covers are fan art. Those songs don't have cd singles. digital download or even vynil released alongside those covers. There is a chart source that uses those. However, Atlantic Records never used those or the songs have been promoted along side those covers. Happy new year! MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:54, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. Apologies, they seemed pretty real though, same style, same font. But the "Runaway Baby" one was a little trashy I'm not gonna lie lol. Thank u DollysOnMyMind (talk) 22:03, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I made the same mistakes years ago. Ahah, it was a bit lazy, I'm not going to lie. Kind regards MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:07, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
