    • Dear User:Medara Bassey, please give some more details which article was the one you added the image to, and what image was it? Just tell me these things and I'll see how I can help you. As for the image uploading software that is not necessary at all. I am guessing that you made some mistake while uploading the image, anyways do not worry I'll try to help. May your stay here be a good one. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by King Of The Wise (talkcontribs) 16:11, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template tags[edit]

Please could you enlighten me more on noinclude, includeonly, and the onlyinclude tags, and how to use them in coding templates. Medara Bassey (talk) 12:19, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

<noinclude>foo</noinclude> means that "foo" will appear on the template page, but won't appear when you put (transclude) the template anywhere else. <includeonly>foo</includeonly> means that "foo" won't appear on the template but it will appear when you transclude it. And <onlyinclude>foo</onlyinclude> means that only "foo" will appear when you transclude the page.
That said, please don't make a template. Templatespace isn't meant for userspace stuff and making a template with only one transclusion is redundant. What you can do, though is create User:Medara Bassey/something and then transclude that by writing {{User:Medara Bassey/something}} on your user page. Also, please note that one user only gets one account except in limited circumstances (in reference to this, which I'm assuming is you as well). --Jakob (talk) 18:17, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    • Thank you sir. I only wanted to know what those tags stand for. I am presently creating and using templates in my user space (such as my signature template), not in template space. Thanks the more.

Medara Bassey (talk) 17:58, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, you actually are not allowed to have templates like that in your signature; it's in the signature policy. If you insist on having a template signature, you must substitute the template, rather than transcluding it, as you're doing; that is, you must have "subst:" at the beginning of the template. However, it's not a good idea to do even that; it's unnecessary, and it introduces errors into your signature. Your above edit is an example; the timestamp reads "17:58, 3 April 2014 (UTC)", but you actually made the edit at " 18:28, 3 April 2014‎ (UTC)"; this timestamp error is because of the template you're using, and it will only get worse. Please don't use a template in your signature. Writ Keeper  18:39, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:Wikipedia logo permitted.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Wikipedia logo permitted.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Be a regular joe.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Be a regular joe.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Writ Keeper  17:16, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What I've said to Aliciaag applies here too, so I'm going to copy it over here: while that is the technical process, the actual requirements for uploading an image are somewhat more complex. To upload an image to Wikipedia, the image must be either public domain or licensed under a scheme compatible with the terms of Wikipedia's CC-BY-SA license, or it must be uploaded under the quite restrictive terms of fair use. Just because you can upload any image doesn't mean that you should, unfortunately. It looks like most, if not all, of the images you've uploaded recently had no indication of any of these things, and so they are all up for deletion. If you've uploaded them in error, that's okay, just let the deletions take place; it's not a big deal, people make those sorts of mistakes all the time. Just keep it in mind for the future; Wikipedia takes copyright issues pretty seriously, so we need to be conscious of it. Thanks, Writ Keeper  17:34, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    • I dont know where and how to add the owner of the copyright and the link to the website I obtained the image.Medara Bassey (talk) 08:39, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Help in Template protection[edit]

Please what should I do to protect my user page or template from unnecessary edition.

Medara Bassey (talk) 21:16, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For all I can tell no one but you ever edited your user page (assuming this was you, too) or any of its template sub-pages. Unnecessary edits to your pages don't seem to be a problem in need of a solution. Technically you could request page protection, but that requires some evidence of need. Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy.Place any further information here.Medara Bassey (talk) 13:35, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline; we need your IP address to investigate your claim that it is no longer an open proxy. WhatIsMyIP will tell you your IP address. If you don't wish to provide this publicly, you can use WP:UTRS (though it's slower than an unblock request). Yamla (talk) 14:49, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
