BLP?[edit]

@Koridas: Thanks for approving the draft. I'm not sure about the article being in Category:Living Persons, however. Wouldn't Category:People declared dead in absentia and/or Category:Missing people be more appropriate? Muzilon (talk) 21:55, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Muzilon, Alright, I'll go and change it up, as the subject has gone missing. Koridas (...Puerto Rico for statehood!) 00:54, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@RetroCraft314:, I would presume the subject has effectively been ruled dead in absentia via the US federal court judgment? Muzilon (talk) 09:02, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Muzilon:, I might be wrong but reading WP:BDP, which says Anyone born within the past 115 years is covered by this policy unless a reliable source has confirmed their death, seems to indicate that out of an abundance of caution, it's best to keep the BLP notice. <RetroCraft314 /> 19:34, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose it's a question of whether a U.S. federal court judgment is a "reliable source" then. Muzilon (talk) 20:00, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The advice given in response to this question at WP:HELPDESK refers to the first footnote on WP:BLP, which states People are presumed to be living unless there is reason to believe otherwise. This policy does not apply to people declared dead in absentia. As the U.S. federal court judgment effectively did declare the subject dead in absentia, I shall therefore remove the BLP category here. Muzilon (talk) 22:01, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
