Because, as I wrote in another post, the line is extremely blurry. Are Chavez, or Allende, or Maduro, social-democrats? Most would say No, bc he’s on the more radical side of reformist socialism. Are Jeremy Corbyn, Willy Brandt, Mitterrand, Sanders, Mélenchon, Lafontaine and co. social-democrats? For some they are both simultaneously socdems and demsocs, for others the currently living ones in that category are not socdems, while the older ones are. Are Tony Blair or Lionel Jospin social-democrats? For most, they are, but they aren’t socialist (while self-describing as such), for some few others, they aren’t socdems bc of their neoliberalism.
